Just awful. Nothing to carry the heritage. I get that its forward thinking and targeting foreign markets, but completely forgets where they came from the in first place.

That being said, this is coming from someone who holds tradition in football in high regard. If it achieves what it sets out to, and the fans accept it, then its a winner. I do question whether the fans will accept it though...

Ganjer • 7 years ago

I was a huge fan as a kid, I remember don't wanting to go to school the day after we lost the final against Dortmund (this just to prove that I know what I'm talking about ;-) ).

My first reaction was like yours. "Man, where's the shield? What have they done?". Then I stopped a moment and realized that the Juventus heritage isn't the shield. It's the stripes. They nailed it.

The Juventus shield never was as iconic as - say - Milan, Real Madrid or Arsenal.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Haha Arsenal... not even entitled to be in the same space as those other names, let alone be titled iconic.

I think my main beef is the lack on heritage...it seems considerate of only potential markets rather than current ones. The prancing horse that is featured throughout may have been a better place to start. If someone presented such a radical change of logo of a team I supported (Brighton btw), I would be pretty annoyed about it.

As a mark, I actually quite like it, I just don't think it is very considerate of the space where it has to live. Time will tell whether the mark is relevant or not in a few years.

Ganjer • 7 years ago

Granted, Arsenal might not have been the best choice for the point I was trying to make ;-)

The horse you mentioned is actually a bull which comes from the city of Turin's flag. It's always been kind of a pickle, as it's very close to the emblem of the other Turin footbal team. That's why on some of the logos over their history, they switched from the bull to the zebra.

See what I mean when I say there is no strong heritage apart the black and white stripes? ;-)

YES! Smooth out the shield and it's much better!

Oscar Alx • 7 years ago

I have serious respect for that!

JC • 7 years ago

way better

Just Joe • 7 years ago

Smooth out the bottom corners of the shield to contour around the J better and you have a solid logo.

sofaman • 7 years ago

I like what you've done there. Another option: https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

bianca sz • 6 years ago

Yes, the shield is needed to keep it in the tradition and avoid confusion. The new logo is bold an minimalistic, very modern, and i would absolutely love it, but... two white stripes on a black background? Better be careful with that. It's uncanny how much it evokes the Nazi SS symbol.

Sunny Joshi • 6 years ago

Actually better!

Jean Viales • 6 years ago

A+++++++ So much better dude. They should've hired you.

Wooow awesome!! The concept of the new logo with the essence of the football classic logos

Whats the problem with Arsenal?

THEE BLOG • 7 years ago
thisiskevin • 7 years ago

he's old, sooner or later he'll be gone.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Problem with Arsenal....Think they are way more important than they are. 'Elitist,' self righteous style of play that is pleasing to watch for three months of the year. The fans bitch and moan constantly (the ultimate keyboard warriors), but really they should be pleased that they consistently compete at a tier just below the top table.

They will never be considered a European juggernaut in the same breath as madrid, barca, utd, liverpool because they have never won the big one, and probably never will. When their greatest night is winning 3-3 at Bournemouth and you have their players celebrating like they won an unlikely quadruple you know you have a problem.

Also, their logo is awful!

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Yeah sure Arsenal is not at the same league as Barca/Madrid/Bayern etc. But Liverpool? Seriously? When's the last time then won anything rofl. Also United has been on a decline this couple of years.

Im sure Arsenal can rise up again once Wenger is gone and replaced by someone better.

Logo is just fine. I'm assuming you're a Hotspur fan?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

^ See above...I'm a Brighton fan.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Funny how you can talk shit about other club when the club you're rooting for never really win anything significant... oh well, whatever floats your boat i guess.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

We never implied that we are part of Europes elite. We also don't receive Real and Barcas cast offs. But you are proving my point :)

Arsenal keyboard warriors at it again. Gunners Unite...!

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Wasn't me who fired the first shot. Won't really debate anything had you been a Barca/Real/Bayern fan since its a proven fact that they are in a class above Arsenal.

But your club? And you diss Arsenal?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

I didn't fire any shot. I gave an opinion that is reflective of the football community at large. Just because I support a team of a 'lower' social standing than your own, doesn't mean I can't have an opinion. Probably, given my knowledge or lower league football and the european football and its history, my opinion probably has more validity, especially as it can be backed up with something more than 'Arsenal is an elite club.'

Arsenal fans are an ungrateful bunch for the most part...you think that because you get into Europe every year that somehow makes you special. Brighton and the rest of the football league would kill for an opportunity to play in Europe, compete at the top of the premier league and contest domestic trophies. Instead you spend most of the season, typing into your keyboards about how much you love/hate Arsene Wenger depending on what time of the month it is and debating how Jack Wilshere may be the greatest midfielder of the last fifty years (exaggeration).

I actually have nothing wrong with the club, its the fans that make them completely intolerable.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

"Haha Arsenal... not even entitled to be in the same space as those other names, let alone be titled iconic."

If that's not shit talking then i dont know what is.

"Arsenal fans are an ungrateful bunch for the most part...you think that because you get into Europe every year that somehow makes you special."

i've been a fan of Arsenal since i was in elementary school so i did stick with them through the good and bad. There are numerous times that i thought of something like "i should've picked another club to support, fuck this shit." but in the end that never happened. I personally think we are good, just not the best. We do manage to stay in the big four for god knows how long and that should count for something i hope, though i do wish one day we'll get the title again. So yes, we bitch about Wenger and Wilshere but we do love the club and will always support the club. But just like you, we are entitled to have opinions. So as long as we bitch and moan about whats going on in our club that shouldn't really be any of your business no?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Its the truth, there is a big difference. Joke of Europe and joke of the English game. Do you think you would not get rinsed on Insta and the like if you weren't such a bunch of obnoxious morons?

Just going to leave this here... https://www.youtube.com/use...

The video is not the reference here, its the channel itself.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

well it seems you are really fixed with your opinion that we're a bunch of obnoxious morons right, so go back to your little league while we stay here trying to at least finish in the big 4. Maybe one day our teams will meet on the field?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

A little league that is still one of the top 10 most watched in the world, and arguably the most competitive in the world. If you knew anything about football, you wouldn't make sure a belittling and juvenile comment. Its clear that my comments are clearly very close to home, and I'm sorry that you and the majority of your kind cannot see yourself for what you truly are.

I'm sorry you are going to come fourth and go out in the last 16 of the Champions League, and I'm sorry about your bipolar fans attitude to Arsene Wenger. I'm sorry that you may or may not have the opportunity to compete for a domestic trophy (although not the premier league hahahaha), and I'm sorry that most fans in the Premier League and beyond truly despise what you lot are.

We will see you next year! Referring to my early comment, if you knew anything about football you would know our current position....Oh wait, you don't.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

i know just enough and i don't really want to waste my time with no namers.

Maybe one day when your team can compete in the EPL we'll continue this discussion. In the mean time enjoy the little league.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

I didn't glory hunt unlike yourself. Sure you will quietly switch to a City fan or something soon enough. Football can do without people like you

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Upset!?!?!? Watford...

Enjoy fourth!

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Hows little league going? Try again next time when you guys are in the EPL, if ever.

Nope, not a City fan and will never be.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Still top. Like the fifth biggest league in the world. Ah...bitter, bitter Arsenal fan that your poor little 'title' race is over. It was over from the first kickoff of the season. Fool...

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Top of the little league? Yeah would love to see your "great" club play against any of the EPL clubs. Doubt it'll be great after that rofl. What good being a big fish in a small pond.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

You know so very little about football its actually embarrassing. It is truly reflective of your kind

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Yeah yeah at the very least i know that your club is no where good enough for EPL. Hows that?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Also not true. Keep racking up those L's wee man

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Not true? When was the last time your little club competes in EPL?

IBudgie • 7 years ago

A very long time ago, but that doesn't make us a little club. We sell out 30,000 every week. That is not quite your size, but at least we know they are going to be true fans of the club, not tourists looking to spend some Yen.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

"A very long time ago." Nuff said.

love it how your ignorant ass kept on saying we're not true fans even though in my case i've been an Arsenal fan over 20 years. I guess little leaguers have a different way of thinking.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

You say little leaguers like it supposed to be some kind of insult, and a poor attempt at being patronising. In short, you have nothing to come at me with, because you don't know enough about the subject matter.

Arsenal fans are all the same...

;)

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

just for this argument, i know i can sleep well at night knowing that your team is no where near as good as Arsenal and thats good enough for me.

And fyi i'm not from England, so i don't really give a damn about small leagues. Hence why i don't know anything about a no namer club like yours.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Exactly, a plastic fan from abroad with no respect for English football. Your comment is even less valid as a result. Because you have no fucking idea. Picking a team from thin air that you have no connection to is a terrific form of glory hunting, and I'm sure the true Arsenal fans hate the sight of you. You are everything they dispise.

My advice would be to support a team from your own country and actively support the development of your own league.

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

so supporting Arsenal makes me a plastic fan? Seriously i feel stupider for just talking to you. I'm guessing you're one of those brainless football hooligan like the ones usually pictured in the movies?

As i said i've supported Arsenal since i was in elementary so that makes it a bit over 20 years. Sure i picked it a bit randomly but as we all know Arsenal was not really a champion club 20 years ago. If i want to pick a winning team i would've picked Man U instead. And i stuck with them all throughout these years. I've also watched them live at the stadium and i buy their merchandises. All your arguments are invalid.

And please don't ever forget the point that your team is nowhere near as good as Arsenal and it will never will be.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

PLASTIC FOOTBALL FAN DEFINITION: 'A plastic fan is one whose allegiance to a team is not determined by geography or family ties. He or she is a glory hunter.'

That is you. Period. Undeniable.

'I'm guessing you're one of those brainless football hooligan like the ones usually pictured in the movies?' I'm university educated with a respectable career, as well as having attended all tiers of English football in the last 20-odd years.

'Sure i picked it a bit randomly but as we all know Arsenal was not really a champion club 20 years ago' They won the league 97-98 as well as the FA cup. That is pretty much 20 years ago. Please learn the history of your club. Arsenal were not unsuccessful up until that point.

'And please don't ever forget the point that your team is nowhere near as good as Arsenal and it will never will be.' Never said we would be. I'm not bothered by our quality compared to Arsenal. Its a bit of a muted argument when you are owned by billionaires and we are owned by a local businessman who earned his fortune primarily through gambling.

In all, whatever helps you sleep at night. You keep getting schooled and you keep coming back for more!

thisiskevin • 7 years ago

Yep sure you do sound like someone educated with a respectable carreer. Not. Imho you just sound like a bitter man whos stuck with a shitty team and loves to vent your anger on others on the internet. The type that you called a "keyboard warrior"

97-98 was 2-3 years after i graduated from elementary school and the best team back the was still Man U and i decided to go for the underdog. Still stuck with them through the losses even until tonight. Had i been a glory hunter it would be so much easier to root for Man U like so many of my friends did back then.

And yes you are bothered, otherwise you won't talk shit about other clubs in the first place. As much as i hate other teams, i don't really talk shit about them openly unless provoked.

IBudgie • 7 years ago

Its good to see you bit then ;)

Keep it plastic bro.
