In this profession we tend to set high expectations for performance. Whether circumstances tend to conspire against us, or we just fall victim to human frailty, we may not live up to our expectations. Studies of medical professionals who committed errors resulting in the death of patients show a majority of the involved providers consider suicide. That makes such consideration common. Common things are not outliers, and therefore cannot be considered strange, foreign, aberrations to be hidden and to be left to smoulder in one's soul.
