To hell with service, this show is just so darn cute!

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

Exactly!!! And the icing on the cake is that we do get some service every so often including panties and boob bounce and bunny girl suits etc.

You're picking up what I'm putting down, Scissor my bro!

Besides Photoshop, what is the best software for making GIFs (not WEBM) ?

aikapants • 7 years ago

Probably Gimp.

AdiiL • 7 years ago

I tried Gimp as well but it's so inconvenient and impractical

Light ecchi is appealing for some people. Personally, I prefer shows full of cute girls with b-cups and tight asses who constantly flash their pantsu and nipples (eg. To Love-Ru), but there's room for tamer shows as well. It's good to have something for everyone.

Looks promising. A couple of small images that I managed to snag from that page:

CF5X3 • 7 years ago

Yuri and cuteness with an occasional touch of sexiness, sounds like a good combination;
those end cards, however, keep making me think that the show is sexier than it really is.

How long does it to take you make a stitched image?
Whenever I look at stitched images, I get the impression that at the least, a person has to undertake a timely and meticulously process of capturing multiple frame-by-frame screenshots to eventually stitch via photoshop, or some website.

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

The show does get sexier than you might think it is but only in small amounts. The other slice-of-life shows haven't even come close to those moments.

"How long does it to take you make a stitched image?"

Depends on the stitch. The really easy ones can take only a few minutes. The really hard ones can take over an hour and most of that can be trial-and-error. The more that happens during a pan, the harder the stitch is to make if it's doable at all.

Modern stitching software takes most of the grunt work out of making stitches like it was in the old days with Photoshop etc. I use MS ICE for the great majority of my stitches. Not only is a great stitching tool, it's free to use.

Modern video playing software can also take a lot of the pain out of frame capture. Especially if you use one with batch (or burst) frame capture. That's what I use when making diagonal stitches.

CF5X3 • 7 years ago

Thanks for the insight, especially about the burst frame capture feature.
I'll have to check out if any of my video players have that feature, as that would be a much more efficient process than hitting Ctrl+PrntScr to get the desired screen shot.

"The more that happens during a pan, the harder the stitch is to make if it's doable at all."
Lol, I guess that's one perk for anime generally having simple animation. It seems like it would be impossible to do a stitch if the screen pan was across a non-still image.

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

"much more efficient process than hitting Ctrl+PrntScr"

Please try not use the screencap feature of Windows or video player. Not only is it easy to lose image info by too much cropping or wrong aspect ratio or by zooming, there's a fair bit of image processing by both the video player and by Windows. It's usually better to use the frame capture feature of the video player with the setting to capture the original image size. One some video players that is called a snapshot feature. Can still have image processing but should be closer to the actual frame in the video file.

CF5X3 • 7 years ago

There's image quality loss from using Ctrl+PrntScr!

Darn it, it was a pain to reupdate my collection of anime/manga images after I realized that there is an image quality loss when converting png's to jpegs; it looks like I got to go run through my collection to update those screenshots of animes and magazine scans.

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

If you have saved caps in pngs, I would leave it at that. It's probably better than most of what you find on the net which is jpg. It's just that Windows sceencaps usually have lower quality defaults and it's easy to change the image in unintended ways like 720p video becoming 700p or 740p which also changes the original aspect ratio.

Thanks for all the advice Scissor.
Much appreciated.

On a tangential note,
I got to express how happy I am regarding the end of the race arc in UQ Holder.
One of my favorite aspects of Ken Akamatsu's Negima was the girls losing their clothes in events/battles,etc. This arc didn't disappoint in that aspect, as all the main girls (and the children of favorite yuri couple, Setsuna and Konoka) get stripped by the end of the race, a moment made even greater when each of the main girl command the main male protagonist to cover them using his hands.

You know what makes me happy? Staring at hotaru's rack!

Fan artists often miss the subtle details with Hotaru. She looks a little derpier than that (in a cute way), and her tits aren't that big, haha.

Nice review and stitches. One of these days I'll get ICE to work. :D

I've been wondering about something. Do Western licensing companies have any influence over what gets adapted? I've been wary of Funimation ever since they tried censoring the Dance in the Vampire Bund BDs, and shoehorned an awkward GamerGate reference into the Prison School dub.

I found this picture that aligns pretty well with my preferences. Cute girl + slim + pantsu.

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

I'm surprised that you're not using MS ICE by now. It's a big timesaver when making stitches. What are you using right now? Photoshop?

According to Justin Sevakis at ANN, Western companies don't have much influence at all on anime production unless they are on the production committee which is not common but happening more and more.

weasl • 7 years ago

That's not entirely true since they do make anime that they consider more geared towards the western market at times. The popularity of a title in the west can often lead to a series spawning more.

aikapants • 7 years ago

I just take about 4 or 5 caps with VLC and put them together in Photoshop. I'm too lazy to research compatible video options, and trying to configure VLC to export image sequences was a hassle.

And thank god. It would be a shame if the puritans took over the anime industry. Long live shameless and lewd anime!

Luigi • 7 years ago

The gamergate shit put a bad taste in my mouth, then again, with Funi dubs I've also heard awesome Pinky and the Brain references... so I think it kindov evens out.

ScissorMeTimbers • 7 years ago

MS ICE will take those vlc frame caps and stitch them together for you. I used MS ICE + vlc to make stitches for a very long time. Just click on make panorama from images towards the top left and navigate to the folder with your caps and select the caps you want to use.
