yes, lets give someone attention because they are a tranny and then pat ourselves on the back for a job well done...

don't know who's sicker, the tranny or the mlb geniuses who decided this was a good thing.

It's so nice of them to be so supportive of people suffering from serious, mental illness....

p3orion • 8 years ago

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "TRANSGENDER." There are two and ONLY two sexes, and except for the vanishingly small fraction of the population who are born with legitimate genetic sexual abnormalities, a person is exactly the sex his or her genitalia would indicate, and that his or her XY or XX chromosomes confirm. This remains true no matter what clothing choices, hormone therapy, or surgical alteration he or she might undertake to deny that reality.

A man who thinks he is a "woman in a man's body" is mentally ill. He (or a woman in the opposite situation) is suffering a serious delusion, as assuredly as the 80-pound anorexic who, despite all the evidence to the contrary, still believes she is too fat. Just as it would be wrong to assist the anorexic in dieting, or for a doctor to perform liposuction on her, it is unethical to humor the delusions of “transgenders,” or for physicians to surgically mutilate them to assist with their disguises.

A person has a right to masquerade as the opposite sex, but he or she does not have the right to demand that we all play along in their fantasy. In fact, those who do play along, in the mistaken belief that this is an “enlightened” and “tolerant” stance, may actually cause further harm to the person who is the object of their misguided indulgence. If a man, acting in the fervent belief that he has become a cow, takes to walking on all fours and saying only "moo," is he really helped if we "respect his choice" by putting him in a pasture and feeding him hay? Or would he be better served by others' assistance in gently guiding him out of his delusion?

As people suffering mental illness, so-called "transgenders" deserve not hostility, but compassion (at least for their condition, though not necessarily any efforts they make to characterize it as "normal.") However, that does not mean we should coddle them by accommodating their fantasies; an essential part of showing compassion would be to refuse to honor such a person's "choice," and their refusal to accept reality should have no bearing on our own recognition of it. But our disdain should fall not on the victims of a "transgender" mental disorder, but rather should be reserved more for the politically-correct liberal idiots who indulge and reinforce their delusions by trying to legitimize their unfortunate self-deceptions.

The problem with characterizing these feelings as "normal" ("you're not crazy, you really ARE trapped in the wrong body") is that such enabling prevents the sufferers from being treated for their underlying mental condition. These are people who are fundamentally dissatisfied with who they are; surgery and hormone treatments are an expression of that dissatisfaction, not a cure for it. After spending thousands of dollars undergoing irreversible changes and STILL not liking who they are, it is not surprising that many see suicide as the final viable option, at a rate some twenty times that of the general population.

Only a minute fraction of the population has an actual genetic sexual abnormality; Klinefelter Syndrom (XXY chromosome) occurs in fewer than two out of every thousand male births, and that is the MOST common one. But for these few people, it is obvious that a degree of understanding, compassion, and accommodation is appropriate; since for some of them their sex really is ambiguous, it probably is best simply to agree that they are whichever sex they would choose to declare themselves. I would not, however, be inclined to offer the same terms to anyone who is simply suffering from the delusion that they were born the "wrong" sex.

Once the state of science has advanced enough that a person’s 23rd chromosome CAN be changed from XY to XX (or the reverse) I might even admit that, "yes, OK, that guy really HAS changed his sex" (although I'll be damned if I'd want to see my taxes paying for it.) But until then, it's just the same as if I decided to wear a toupe: I might look different, but I'm STILL bald.

When does the next guy who likes Sheep get to sing? Or the president of NAMBLA ?

Rob Rock • 8 years ago

Brevity is the soul of wit.

p3orion • 8 years ago

Quite so, but I wasn't trying to be witty. If you want pithy little soundbites that take no longer than the average trip to the toilet, stick to Twitter.

karl • 8 years ago

What about all the people who are born with intersex genitalia, or XXY chromosomes, or all the other sexual abnormalities children are born with? This accounts for roughly 1 in 2,000 children...

p3orion • 8 years ago

Actually, the incidence rate is somewhat higher than 1 in 2000, but that is irrelevant.

If you had read as far as my second sentence, you would have seen that I mention such actual genetic abnormalities. For people who have a legitimate birth defect of that sort, one which DOES call their sex into question, of course the decision should be left in their hands as to which sex they will considered.

But that does not support an argument that we should grant the same privilege to those who are simply DELUDED about their sexual identity, but who are actually part of the overwhelming majority born either XX (female) or XY (male.)

It's only natural to let someone born with only one arm decide whether or not to call himself disabled, but if a guy fervently believes he should have had THREE arms, you don't let him call himself disabled because he has only two.

karl • 8 years ago

Honestly, I don't see why it's a big deal if someone feels like the gender that doesn't match their genetic sex. I know a couple such people, and they basically just were never comfortable with societal norms for what their gender should be. One is a trans woman, and the other a trans man. Both became much happier people when they accepted who they felt they were in their heart, and both seem a lot more "natural" (for lack of a better word) as the people they are now.

I asked one of them further about the whole thing, because I didn't understand. I asked her why she didn't just dress and behave the way she felt comfortable, but felt it necessary to have surgery and hormone treatment. She wasn't too sure about it really, and said there's just social pressure that if you behave a certain way, your body is supposed to match it.

GozieBoy • 8 years ago

What about them? Should we completely subjugate our culture for each 0.05% of the population on each issue (assuming even your bloated data is correct)? If we take down culture to the lowest common denominator of that level, then it is impossible to have a culture at all.

karl • 8 years ago

The person I responded to claimed there are only TWO genders, 100%, and everyone fits into one or the other. That is not true. I want to know why (s)he ignored people who are born into *neither* gender. Do we just ignore them? Pretend they don't exist? Force them to be men? People born with sexual abnormalities - no matter how few of them there are - have always faced massive difficulties in their lives, and often end up committing suicide. Should we just let them suffer and kill themselves? Is that a fine attitude to have about our fellow citizens in a supposedly advanced country?

p3orion • 8 years ago

See my response above. I never said everyone falls into one or the other categories. However, those who do, do. Abnormalities are one thing, delusions are quite another.

Charlie Frown • 8 years ago

Well said.

SciFi_Freddie • 8 years ago

Notice how they use the word "transgender" instead of "transsexual". A person's sex is established before birth and is immutable. Liberals know this. "Gender," however, is a less definitive word (masculine, feminine, and neuter are genders) and can be molded to mean pretty much what people want it to mean.

Rob Rock • 8 years ago

Well that concludes the discussion since the supreme know-it-all has made his statement.

Guest • 8 years ago

Mad your strategy is exposed?

SciFi_Freddie • 8 years ago

And who is "the supreme know-it-all?" Certainly not me. I do not supremely know everything, but I do know the meaning of words and how liberals are attempting to change reality by manipulating language. That is why 'transsexual' has been dumped in favor of 'transgender.' They cannot logically or biologically argue that one can change his or her sex.

p3orion • 8 years ago

Yes, for example they now want us to believe that "gender" has something to do with human biology (or psychology) when it actually is a grammatical term, and not even one related to English.

next we'll be seeing bumber stickers on cars that read " Proud Parent of a Transgender"

Wow such an amazing first! It will replace Armstrong on the Moon and the Wright Brothers First flight.

GozieBoy • 8 years ago

Probably so. Have you seen the schools' history books these days?

JapaneseRamenNoodle • 8 years ago

The first thing that I thought of when I read this headline: This happened in either San Francisco, Oakland or Boston. I was right. It is a shame to "celebrate" this disorder when it is just that -- a mental disorder.

What the big deal about a guy singing the National Anthem?

Mark Able Jones • 8 years ago

You do realize that this isn't a mainstream news story; it's just a conservative news story. CONSERVATIVES are the ones giving this issue attention.

Nothing normal about this guy who dresses as a woman.

Guest • 8 years ago

Now he's a man without a johnson. A counterfeit woman.

Or is he like Bruce Jenner? A man with a johnson, who says he's a woman.

WillyMcGee2020 • 8 years ago

Jenner is a fake, until he cuts the johnson off, he's still a man.

WhereDidMyLibertyGo • 8 years ago

I've got news for him. He will be a malefor all eternity. Male = XY female = XX.

Period.

Oh and he'll never have one of those, either.

Monty Python and the Life of Brian: "But you can't be a woman you haven't got a womb!" "But I should have the right to be a woman, none the less!"

Blue_Jason • 8 years ago

Nope. Men aren't always XY and women aren't always XX. Chromosomes can sometimes vary but hey, coming from the mouth of an idiot, what can we expect? An idiot who apparently considers himself a scientist! Good one!

NJman • 8 years ago

"Jehovah" !!!!!

And even afterwards. He'll just be a disfigured man.

Blue_Jason • 8 years ago

Sounds like you know from experience that Jenner has a Johnson. You've either a) somehow actually cared enough to spend the time researching it or b) fantasized about it. Wow.......

you are exactly correct. God made Men and Women for a reason, changing your identity to suit yourself doesn't work, ask the lady in Spokane how it worked for her.

RockLakeGuy • 8 years ago

No, it is an 'it'. It is a neutered human being. It can't be a woman, because it doesn't have the necessary functioning organs. It can't be a man, because it now cannot impregnate a woman.

Nope. On that day the media will go back to raging over a Republican president and you'll get pushed to the back of the line. No one will give a $#!t about you and your silly cause.

Besides, shoe manufacturers are tired of making size 12 EEE heels.
