Big money cuts corners till things breaks and people die, then they deny it.

We need to make it the law to completely reclaim the raw materials from ewaste within the country disposal. ewaste is 50 times richer in valuable raw materials than any natural ore on earth. We need our govs to stop wasting money on research for nuclear and fossils and put it to closing the waste loop, completely and cleanly. Its is possible. We can even extract diesel and oil fuels from the plastic without burning, and leave the metals behind, un oxidized.

Yet we give breaks to mining, and nothing to recycling ewastes properly without killing poor people around the world.

These people are expendable, they are our slaves, the pollution is in a small area that China will have to clean up. More children are dying in this country and around the world because the cell phone manufacturers chose to allow a phone, to text while moving in a car, leading to thousands of deaths. This was discussed in the engineering meetings way back in the pre-texting days when the digital texting formula and standards were being developed. The cell phone companies did not want to lose the revenue from any texts, regardless of whether it meant saving or losing lives.

If all producers of whatever products had been obliged to safely recycle their waste materials from the beginning of the industrial revolution, there would be no problem today. But profit was the immediate and final goal.

We have turned into a throw-away society and we are throwing away ourselves too - but haven't noticed it yet.

Bit Rot takes good photos but math is a problem. No one can dump e-waste in Africa for $2. Flat wrong, never happened, fake. Africa reuses 85%-93% range (3 studies) for longer than original users in West. Ghana's TV station was running in 1957. Vast majority of households in Ghana had TV in 2003, per World Bank data. Trying to patch these photos onto a discredited 'majority dumping" hoax is very harmful, results in arrest and imprisonment of Geeks of Color, and if Bit Rot is serious about more than heroicizing and exoticizing the problem, BR will read MIT, UNEP, Memorial U, ASU studies. And read that the Org which made up the preposterous claim of 75%-80% dumping now runs away from it.

Please move the dialogue forward. I'm in Africa, 3rd week at Agbobloshie and Tamale, Africa has plenty of real problems without us distorting and making them up (like $2 shipping and disposal costs) http://retroworks.blogspot....
