Reposting... this is one of the articles mentioned in Mr. Jeffrey's letter. Worth a read.
Fair Game: Leveling the Playing Field in Scientology Litigation

Thanks again, and if anyone is reading this (ha!) here's the link to the other fantastic article
http://lawandreligion.com/s...
Both are obviously things anyone litigating Scientology should have and use.

Juicer77 • 8 years ago

Great, TY!

Shorpy • 8 years ago

Thanks for that, its really cool.
I especially like the repeated use of "Church[sic] "

Juicer77 • 8 years ago

I loved that part too! ;) The author does it again and again.

OK - what about this scenario - taken from Lawyers.com, "If the case is close to trial the court may be reluctant to grant permission for dismissal if it'll delay the proceedings unless the court finds you have good cause under the circumstances to discharge your attorney." The question of course is how close is close? In legal terms this could be a lot further away than I might imagine - non?
As far as I am aware, the court hasn't actually granted permission yet, and will Monique have to show good cause?
Maybe a lawyer here knows the answer?

Good questions. I am particularly interested in what Judge Waldrip will have to say to the Rathbuns. If indeed they are proceeding without legal counsel, he will most likely take great pains to explain to them exactly how dangerous this is. I know we can't know what is said "in chambers" but something will end up on the record about it.

If there's still anyone around here's a post from ICSA about cult myths.

Myth/Misconception: Once you leave a cultic movement, you can/should just move on with your life—don’t look back.
Reality:

Most helping professionals agree that understanding one’s experience helps reduce the impact of the trauma.
Some people cannot reflect on their experience—trauma disables.
Currently there is much discussion by helping professionals of the neurobiological impact of trauma.
There is no “one size fits all” rule about the benefit or harm of trying to understand, or when an effort to understand is best.
Former members may go through stages similar to the stages of grief: denial, resentment, fear, interest, reflection/acceptance. The stages do not necessarily move in a fixed, linear order, and they are not universal.

They've already bid 3 no-Trump.

Yikes!

From another board:
Q: Why do so many people take an instant dislike to Ted Cruz?
A: Because it saves time!

Rita G • 8 years ago

Cruz oozes creepy.

Artoo45 • 8 years ago

Cruz oozes is just plain fun to say.

salin • 8 years ago

I can not remember a 'leader' coming out of Iowa, who had built so much enmity from colleagues (in this case other US senators, including those in his own party). Sounds like that in person and real life, Cruz is a really unpleasant person.

Recent aurora activity has been beautiful. While not much can be seen from the Tromso sky cam, the Nasa sight has many recent photos that are breath taking. I share my appreciation of what I consider an awesome natural phenomenon, as a reminder to show appreciation for Tony's post - today the demonstration of a great legal repel move to deflect an aggressive Co$ legal attack - and today's comments. There are 167 'Recommends' - if you appreciate today's post and/or the comments - and haven't yet recommended - please recommend. Just click 'Recommend' right under the comment count. The heart (next to recommend) beats with each new recommend. Make the heart beat.

You really do not want to be here with me... heat stroke is prevalent at the moment. Really disgusting... and I have no air-con except in the car... or at the pub, and we've already resorted to that twice in the last few days, I don't want to gain a reputation.
