Sesame Street TROLLS out autistic puppet to trick the public into believing "autism" is normal.

Jennifer Muirhead • 7 years ago

It's so autistic kids can see other kids like them on screen and feel normal. Autistic kids exist, they're here and they deserve representation. This is the same kind of messed up thinking that used to be used to lock people with disabilities up in institutions where the sight of them wouldn't cause offence. Let's NOT go back to those dark times, thanks.

Karen • 7 years ago

We are in even darker times. The evildoers have gotten even smarter. Now instead of using people with disabilities who were put in mental institutions to be experimented on, the whole planet of people are now being experimented on in the name of "health", course.

You can go ahead and try to "normalize" this all you want. You can go race, jog, hop, skip or jump for a "cure" that the medical community will still claim they haven't found with all of the billions that have been spent on medical "research" for all these diseases that are coming out of nowhere for some very "strange" reason. Read the vaccine inserts and see just how "safe" those vaccines really are. Then ask yourself if you would drink those ingredients or give it to yourself or child(ren) -- all in the name of "health" and "protection" from disease, of course.

Jennifer Muirhead • 7 years ago

Regardless what you think the causes of autism are, autistic people are people, and deserve to be treated as such. Reducing stigma and bullying is a good thing. I can't believe the heartlessness of some of you.

Karen • 7 years ago

I never said autistic people were not people and anyone who said that should be ashamed of themselves. A former coworker of mine was on the autism spectrum and he went to school and got a degree and was one of the hardest working people anyone has ever met. He could put a lot of us "normal" people to shame with his work ethic.

Jennifer Muirhead • 7 years ago

I didn't say you said that in so many words, but denying autisitic children a role model who helps them to feel normal, and shows other children watching that children with autism are kids like them basically, who they can play with and treat like other kids, is not treating them like people. I'm unclear why you see this as "romanticising" autism or think I do fun runs or some such.

Karen • 7 years ago

I believe I said "normalize". It is not normal when you have 1 in 45 children being diagnosed. The medical establishment does not want to blame those toxic vaccines, flouride and other chemicals so what is causing this? That 1 in 45 is going to get smaller and smaller and the medical establishment is going to continue to play dumb and dumber. This is an epidemic and it is social engineering at its best. It is the survival of the fittest and only the strong survive. Therefore, destroy the young so that they will not stay strong and fight back.

Guest • 7 years ago

Exactly. Normalize autism as they have tried by saying its inherited and that Bill Gates and Einstein etc are autistic. Portray them as quirky and funny and they make good employees. Just like they trumpet pharmaceuticals but whisper their numerous disturbing adverse effects, they play this sick game of "everything is normal" not caused.

Allie • 8 years ago

It's not an attack on he autistic. It is negative felings toward the effort to make autism no big deal, when it's occurance is not hundreds of times more common than it ever was - something is wrong here. We shouldn't be normalizing it as if it is simply a type of birthmark - we should be exposing the causes of it and making known the ways to avoid it and help those who already have it.

Jennifer Muirhead • 7 years ago

It's not more common, it's better diagnosed, and scientists are researching and "exposing" the causes of it, which is in no way prevented by having an autistic character on a children's television program. And actually it is an attack on autistic people to assume that autism is necessarily inherently a negative thing to be "avoided".

I have autism. I've been depressed and felt alone my entire life. I've switched schools many times because I've been bullied like you wouldn't imagine. I've always said to myself that if I could just be normal, be like everyone else, maybe I could be happy. I have developed horrible social anxiety that makes me even worse off in social situations because I stress myself out, badly, just to say the right thing. I've seen other autistic people in my life slip into drug use, commit suicide, or rarely leave their beds because they think they make the world a worse place. I don't even care anymore if any of you think I'm the way I am due to vaccines. It isn't true, because that's not how it works, but I don't care. But saying that an autistic child on a children's tv show is wrong breaks my fucking heart because my friends, myself, everyone I know who have children with autism, were all fighting for something like this. And the reaction from all of you is that our existence is discouraged. That me living is just wrong, and bad for the planet. Autism isn't contagious. You can't justify your attempt to eradicate us by pushing us further from everyone else. We're scientists, artists, poets, politicians. We're not a stain on the earth. We're human. We have emotions and dreams and talents. We deserve social acceptance like everyone else.

echo • 7 years ago

The article's attempt to dehumanize autistic people is terrible. My daughter is autistic. She's four and can read better than most five year-olds.

Tark McCoy • 8 years ago

I KNEW Elmo was retarded...now we know WHY!

Freckle • 8 years ago

As a strong advocate for vaccine choice, I want you to know that you have gone too far this time. This article is demeaning to autistic children, and only hurts our movement by further polarizing us. I urge you to retract this article and show a little compassion - the Elmo shit aside, some parents of children on the spectrum have worked very hard to have a character on the show that helps normally developing kids understand autism better. Let them have it.

Dusty Ayres • 8 years ago

I wish for the day when immunization of kids mandated by law and is automatic, and any violation of sad law will result in the child not being allowed to go to school, or the parent losing custody of the child in question-it will make people like you wake the frack up and see reality.

Kasual • 8 years ago

You really need to look into the research on this my dear. You have bought into the sales pitch. I have looked deep into this and also have my degree in Bacteriology so I know more than most. I know that those live microbes in the vaccine do damage to the gut lining. Also the harmful toxins of mercury and aluminum in many of these vaccines isnt healthy for any living organism let alone a baby. If the mothers immune system was in any way weak and she passes that weak immune system on to the baby the babies gut will not be able to control those new and visicous microbes. Please do a little reseach. I have only given you the most basic idea in the simplest of words to help you realize this more than putting a fluid in a childs theigh or arm this is damaging the person for life. I am over 60 and I still have those vaccines flowing in my body damaging organs years down the line. There are devices out there that can show you exactly what is in your body, which I have, and all my vaccines show up.

Dusty Ayres • 8 years ago

60 years old, huh? That makes you sound like most of the people who wear tinfoil hats. Yes, autism isn't that great but neither is getting sick from the flu. I'm afraid that you've been with the silly people for far too long, and it's affected you a lot.

Kasual • 8 years ago

Its pretty sad that you equate autism as less serious than getting the flu. It shows how ignorant you are of the seriousness of autism. The flu you can get over in about 2 weeks and 4 if you are immune compromised. WIth autism it can be a life long burden for everyone around you. The financial costs of someone having autism are so much greater than getting the flu and lying in bed for a week. You are just one sick person from what you write and insulting to those with Autism or deal with autism.

Paul • 7 years ago

Influenza actually kills 500,000-100,000 worldwide per year. Not to mention the following diseases (each of which has a vaccine):

Haemophilus Influenza Type B (HIB)
Diphtheria
Ebola
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis B
Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
Human Papilomavirus (HPV)
Influenza
Measles

Meningococcal
Mumps
Pandemic H1N1 (2009/2010 Swine Flu)
Pertussis (Whooping Cough)
Pneumococcal
Polio
Rotavirus
Rubella
Smallpox
Tetanus
Varicella Zoster (Chicken Pox)

Kasual • 7 years ago

So that is why there are mass graves all over the countries. All these deaths every year from these minor illnesses. Hummm it must have been the vaccines that caused their deaths because when I was young no one was dying when getting these naturally. They were so minor that our moms had parties to expose us to those kids that had them. Well now I know why they are making mass graves everywhere. OMG 9 people just died next to me I bet they had one of those diseases you mentioned. Oddly they all had the same words written on their foreheads not vaccinated. I wonder if that was for the media so there would be no mistake.

Kasual • 7 years ago

Yeah I was wondering about all those mass graves in every country. Now I understand all the news headlines about these huge masses of people dying all over the place. I was sitting next to ten people in a restaurant and 9 of them dropped dead from one of the listed illnesses you mentioned above. All were unvaccinated they had it written across their foreheads to make sure the newspapers reported it correctly. It's really scary how many are dropping dead isn't it. Oh can you give me your sources for those numbers of deaths so I can have them for my records.

Jack Sprat • 6 years ago

Tell us more about those mass graves; it is not something I am aware of. What countries have used them and for what purpose?

Kasual • 7 years ago

Also the influenza vaccine is useless cause as you must be aware it's an RNA virus that constantly mutates so it's based on guessing as to which virus form will be around each year. The antibodies one makes is to the adjuvants in it not to the microbes that's why most who are vaccinated end up getting the flu and infecting others around them.. it's also got mercury in it which ends up going up to your brain. They did studies on urine and didn't find the mercury there so they thought it was gone from the body. Then they did testing of brain tissue in animals and found that it was going directly up to the brain and that is why it didn't show up in the Urine like they had guessed it would. Flu shots are totally useless unless you purposely want to weaken you immune system or get dmentua later.
Oh yes dementia is now showing up in younger and younger age groups so we can thank all the vaccines for helping make that happen. Aluminum found in flu shots enhances the toxicity of mercury and both are accumulative.

Paul • 7 years ago

Please show me a peer reviewed source to substantiate your claims.

Kasual • 7 years ago

Paul it is basic immunology that the flu is an RNA virus and they mutate all the time. Its impossible to know which flu virus for sure will be active it just a guess. Of course you know that or am I wasting my time talking to you.

Kasual • 7 years ago

paul it is pretty well know that it is an RNA virus and they mutate all the time. You must know that or you don't know the most basic things and I am wasting my time with you.

Kasual • 7 years ago

Yeah and those who died of influenza are usually those with an already compromised immune system. The very elderly, those with aids, those with cancer, those dying from some other illness then got the flu, those with already compromised lung compacity. It's not killing the average person. All the above could be treated with high dose Vit C to help their immune system and turn around all the above.
The majority of all those getting the above are either those getting the vaccines or those exposed to those who recently got the vaccine. It is the vaccine form that is spreading not the wild strain. Many carry out the microbe and are silent carriers spreading it around.

Kasual • 8 years ago

With age comes wisdom in my case. Your comment about the getting the vaccine to prevent the flu shows how ignorant you are. My bacteriology background provides me with the knowledge to know that the flu shot is a crap shoot. The flu virus cirulates in a rough 20 year cycle so the makers look back at about 20 years to see which virus was active and then make the flu vaccine based on that virus. Sometimes they are lucky and many times not. Thats why lots of kids get the flu and then another period of infection is around 30 -40 these are the parents of the kids. Go back to school and learn something useful so you can make educated statements. You are so ignorant its pathetic. I hope I put this info in simple enough form for your small brain to grasp.

Dusty Ayres • 7 years ago

Wisdom? No, I'm sorry, in your case, it's stupidity and prejudice against autistic people (BTW, I'm autistic myself [Asperger's diagnosis at the age of 37] and what you said is insulting. But that's par for the course for morons like

Kasual • 7 years ago

Well you are one of the few pathetic autistic then. My daughter is also autistic and functions very well in society unlike you obviously. You really need to work on your discussion skills and stop using Autism as your crutch. If you are on this site you can behave in a decent manner. You need to get help.

Dusty Ayres • 8 years ago

I'm sorry, but as Estelle Getty said once, 'If you're a dummy when you're young, you're a dummy when you're old.'

Kasual • 8 years ago

I'd say that fits you very well then. You are great with the put downs but have no knowledge to share thats a perfect sign of someone without anything to say or to contribute. Look back at all your comments not one bit of value in them. Nothing to convey any knowledge at all. No one can learn from your critical comments. Luckily I dont need your valadation so you can say what you want but you should take a good serious look at yourself and what you write its pretty worthless jibberish. In your case it would be better to keep your mouth shut and listen/read.

Jack Sprat • 7 years ago

That you are with us, and contributing to this discussion, in your 60's is a testament to the efficacy of the vaccines one would think.

Kasual • 7 years ago

I am here at great expense of doing years and years of detoxing from all the toxins I was given over the years. I still have many chronic illnesses to deal with thanks to vaccines as a child that took my immune system away from me. I am full of heavy metals thanks to all the vaccines plus other toxins. I am here inspite of vaccines and due to using natural methods to get rid of all the toxins. Nothing of which was covered in the US but luckily I no longer live there and much of what I now use is covered by insurance and is all natural. You can have the poisons I prefer natural healthy treatments.

Jack Sprat • 7 years ago

Well Kasual, if you had any knowledge, or even high school chemistry; you could fly a 747 through your story. None the less I wish you well on your kidney and liver and lung transplants, I hope you find a compatible donor(s)
I wish you well.

Kasual • 7 years ago

Only here because I have had to spend the last decade repairing my ill health and helping two daughters repair theirs both were vaccinated in the mid80s and both have had ill health all their lives since vaccinations.
The vaccine inserts reads like their medical history.
After tons of research it's clear why they were both so sick all the time.
With detoxing they are getting their lives back slowly like me.

Jack Sprat • 7 years ago

Hello?

Jack Sprat • 7 years ago

Oh super, I'm glad you've done research. I'm so tired of crap being spewn. What research facility are you accredited with?

Kasual • 7 years ago

What organization or research group are you associated with? What is your education and where did you go to school? WHat universities and what degrees did you get?

Jack Sprat • 7 years ago

Oh I'm sorry. We're talking about me? No. No we're not. YOU profess to having performed significant research. I am simply asking where and how the research was conducted. We can talk about me later.

While I understand the gravity of the issue of vaccines and the damage they cause, I find the rest of this article to be largely misguided. Many children with ASD ARE amazing children, and it's wonderful that they are being represented as part of a children's show. What is this article proposing, that they be ostracized, in the name of the anti-vaccine movement? Children with ASD aren't just neurologically damaged kids. People have had ASD for a very long time, just at a lower rate than today, and it wasn't diagnosed the way it now is. While I believe vaccination exacerbated rates of ASD in children, it did not create the disorder. So while we can continue to fight damage from vaccination, let's also focus on caring for and supporting child development, and accepting all children and their differences. The creation of this character is a positive thing.

Lola Michaelson • 8 years ago

I don't get it. While I agree that we need to stop environmentally
crippling our children, the fact is that there are so many children with
autism right now. They face bullying, social isolation, lack of
services, and cruelty from adults and other children. Showing children
how to understand and accept their friends with autism is a powerful
message. Sesame Street is a leader in this and has done this over and over again
with other disabilities. Supporting the acceptance of the children who
already have autism does not, in any way, take away from the work of
understanding and doing all that we can to stop harming our children.
The two ideas are not exclusive.

Jas • 8 years ago

How about we prevent the corporate induced autism for profit to begin with, then we wouldn't have the problem you address.

JMG • 8 years ago

This article only cites it's own publication.

Lacey Bourque • 8 years ago

As the mother of a beautiful, intelligent and PERFECT little girl with autism I have to ask. Do you enjoy putting children down?

In fifteen years when my daughter is a mathematician you will still be here, crying about "toxins" and how autism should be shoved into a closet so that us "normal" people don't have to deal with it.

Kasual • 8 years ago

Prevent the autism in the first place then your daughter would have a normal healthy life and you also would have less pain and worry. I dont think it is to the peoples advantage to mainstream sich kids as if that is normal. Look at the US population mostly fat and sick and on some kind of prescription drugs. Now it is becoming the norm to be sick or have a chronic illness and its getting younger and younger. I truely recommend that everyone dig deep to find out the cause of this so you can turn it around. Dont sit on your spreading butts and accept all this sickness as normal. Its not normal and it should never become normal. YOu need to fight it. A whole generation or two is going to be lost due to this passive acceptence and trying to mainstream illness. Its not about acceptance its about normalizing something that should not be normal or made normal. I am sure your daughter is precious with or with out her autism. It is said that it is like a special gift but it also a burden for your whole family that you should never have had to bear. How are these kids going to be our next leaders of the US and how are they going to run businesses and have families?

Dusty Ayres • 7 years ago

What we have to prevent is tinfoil hat bullshit and the belief in the 'obesity plague' that really isn't.

Kasual • 7 years ago

Oh here we go again. You are still at it I see. Always attacking the person and never adding any new information or facts to any discussion. No one learns anything from you or your exchanges. All your discussions are based on degrading the person and calling them Tin hat bullshit. You really need to work on your discussion skills they are so lacking and pathetic.
