I really like the look and ease of use that Makulu promises, but lately getting anything Debian-based to run after login is an issue. I have Mint mate on my work machine. It is the diamond in the Debian Cracker-Jack box. I tried Makulu 64-bit twice. First the dvd wouldn't even finish loading. I think that was the KDE. Now I'm reduced to the 32-bit iso and it has begun to freeze within five minutes of login. I changed window managers, as mdm has its own problems. It didn't help much. It doesn't seem to matter what nvidia driver I use... freezola. Had similar issues with OpenSuse, Arch, K-Mint (a REAL disaster) and Ultimate Edition, which must be someone's idea of a joke. Boot Ultimate and it just begins farting and belching. Some distro needs to adopt a mission statement that is about performance instead of the "freethisandfreethat" mantra.
I'm actually thinking of returning to Slackware. Hey, it chugs along for hours.. Not desperate enough to use a Microsoft product. I'll pitch the hardware in the lake first.
Developers need to understand that not everybody has the latest and greatest because not everybody can afford it. I just want to install and actually USE an opsys.

Okay, I'm all better now. I need to relax and let the market separate wheat from chaff...

Have you ever tried Peppermint? I have run this on everything and it is nearly flawless even in Multisystem as Live on a USB. Once I even took a live instance and moved it to my hdd! I ran it like that for a long time on this hardware. Now Peppermint 6 is LTS to 2018... Oh it is meant as a net top or a local install for cloud applications but I only use it as local even for games.
