Health care needs to be treated as essential national infrastructure, necessary for the security and well-being of our country. It requires effective management, not politics. Other countries are way ahead of the US with lower costs AND better outcomes.

We have built a government road infrastructure, not relying on a crazy quilt of private roads.

Then why do you see "the wealthy" coming to the US from UK and Canada for medical care? My wife was an insurance broker 'before HusseinCare' put them out of business. Apparently you haven't heard the horror stories from these people about the medical care in these countries.

A less broken arm is still a broken arm. If the Republicans do not get this right then what else will they compromise on?

The difficulty with any effort to make health care affordable and available for everyone is no those who have a good income or those who have little or no income. It is the folks in the middle who suffer. The "working poor" who simply cannot afford insurance nor can they afford the costs of health care, particularly if they have health issues. I work. I am guardian to five children who would be in the Foster Care system if I had not taken them. I have multiple health issues and take multiple medications. I make too much money for Medicaid and not enough money to pay insurance and support my family. And there are a lot of people like me. I'm a proponent of free or income based clinics staffed by PAs and NPs. This would be very low cost. If the health care provider felt that additional care from a specialist was needed, that care could be provided at low cost also. People paying cash should never pay more than the lowest negotiated insurance cost.

I live in a highly liberal state....I don't want ANY gov. in my
personal decisions especially in my health care. I liked it before
hussein's-careless- government intrusion plan rolled out! Let the people
go across state lines and try to get the best possible ins. to suit
their needs. I don't want to pay for murdering the unborn nor for a
sex change...both of which goes against GOD'S LAWS!

"We have to pass it....to find out whats in it."
LOL, it worked the first time.

Well since the moderators don't seem to like my previous comment, I'll shorten it. We don't need replace, just repeal. Americans are not promised free or cheap healthcare. We aren't even promised healthcare. This hand out is on the backs of the middle class that have to pay for all these "programs" the liberals keep selling to their named "victims". Liberals want to sell you a lie that they can deliver a "fair" world, which they can't. Even if we agreed on what that was, which we don't. If liberals are the champions of their named "victims", ask how much they personally contribute to programs that benefit those they named. How much does Schumer, Pelosi, Clinton, and Owebama actually contribute of their own money. They are all multi millionaires, but the last report I saw showed almost NONE! Yet, they are all too quick to write checks off hard working American's tax dollars. Nothing but lies for power grabs!

To all those in the comments section decrying this, I submit a question: What would you propose? Try to avoid anything that ends with people dying due to a lack of medical care.

The per-capita language rewards states like California disproportionately for burdening the system with illegals and cheaters, and encourages other states to do the same. "Per-capita" requires narrow definition and strict enforcement, which have never been Medicaid's strong points.

Republicans are going to have to be courageous and do what is necessary and not be so concerned with how the liberals try and portray them. There is a silent majority that would applaud removing the subsidies. Health insurance is not a right! If you cannot afford it, you don't have it, and you use the safety net we have always had in place. No one dies in the streets in America!

We give them the house, they did nothing, we gave them the senate, they did nothing, and now the presidency and it's bad enough the democrats are stone walling but the republicans?? 2 more years and we can finish cleaning house. They can get rid of the courts and put new ones in, won't do it. I'm sick of hiring people who want a paycheck and benefits but don't want to work for it. Enough is enough. You want a job in 2 years you better get your act together. If I was Trump I would throw their bill back at them

We won't know until the CBO scores it

Obama-WHO????

gwinf • 8 years ago

Too much entitlement in the new plan. Repeal first then take up single issues, one at a time to fix the system.
It is not the place of the federal government to dictate health care nor to provide healthcare. That is a State's issue period!

Snowcat007 • 8 years ago

The government does not belong in anyone's healthcare period!
If they are going to force this lite version on Americans then they too should be subject to the same healthcare.

I would not call it ObamaCare Lite. As proposed it is simply a re-skinned version of ObamaCare - nothing "lite" about it. For of giveaways and big government intervention. Do the GOP so-called leaders really believe that those who elected them are so stupid that this will just slide by? Well, that is not going to happen. I have already called my Congressman and e-mailed Paul Ryan. It is time to take a stand. Maybe it is true that the GOP does not know how to lead. God, I hope that is not the case.

Oscar • 8 years ago

I too contacted my Congressmen as soon as I read this.(as if they listen) I don't think the GOP can lead. They've followed the advice of their liberal counterparts so long they think like they do. Both parties want the same thing, CONTROL. We're headed for a one party system. The only difference being the GOP is using the scenic route.

BibleConscious • 8 years ago

Like it or not, Trumpcare will soon be its new name.

Oscar • 8 years ago

It will be no different than any other program the government is involved in. It's all about power of the purse and control of the people. DC needs to get out of the way!
