Hmm... as a Canadian I honestly don't feel that worried about Russia's desire to Annex neighboring countries. I don't know about everyone else but I would rather see this money get invested domestically. let America do the work lol. We'll just chill out with our high living standards. If stuff does hit the fan, then we will mobilize our military into action. I kno the sandbox is a mess to be involved in right now but I would rather we spend our defense budgets killing those daesh scumbags and helping the Syrians get out of that terrible situation they're in.

Guest • 7 years ago

If you want Uncle Sam to fight your battles for you without Canada pitching in then you forfeit your right to complain about the US military's conduct.

madcanada • 7 years ago

How does current state of affairs between Russia and the west affect the past US military behaviour? Canada fought in all the battles we saw just, exceptions being Iraq and Vietnam because they were major failures, as admitted by a large portion of US government. Russia is clearly not going to engage NATO, nuclear powers don't fight each other directly, and I have to agree that if Americans want another goose chase, they should do that alone.

Mikronos • 7 years ago

Tell us again what was 'just' about Canada 'doing' Afghanistan or Libya. Or 'doing' Syria and Iraq to-day. Or even standing up for one of the most heavily-armed countries in Europe - while it kicks crap out of itself . They weren't about them little girls in school, were they?

Headspaced • 7 years ago

They were about little girls.. those little girls shelled and killed by Russian weapons and troops in the Ukraine and Crimea.. Don't point the finger when you are the biggest bully in the school yard.

LTJ • 7 years ago

The nationalist ethnic-cleansing faction that is shelling and killing Russian-speaking little girls in the Ukrainian civil war can be found on the side supported by NATO.

Couldn't describe it better myself. Thank you for having the courage ..

Looks like some of the Kremtrools who congregate at Ukraine Today have found their way over to Vice.

Headspaced • 7 years ago

Funny that the investigations have found that to be the opposite of that slice of stinky cheese you are trying to serve... Speaking of the Kremlin, anyone able to read can see how Putin has been waging war on the Russian media that won't toe his line. And again speaking of the Kremlin, how's the pay? Do you get paid by the comment or week?

LTJ • 7 years ago

Your Nazi-worshipping heroes started it all by BBQing little girls in a trade union hall in Odessa. They have continued with bullets and bombs ever since.

Your investigation doesn't exist, but here's one that does: https://www.thenation.com/a...

Thank you very much indeed for the excellent link.

Styx • 7 years ago

Apart from being lewd, crude and rude - do you have anything of substance to say ?

Vlad Pufagtinenko • 7 years ago

I'm still waiting for you or your better half LTJ to say anything intelligent....or truthful for that matter

Guest • 7 years ago

Ah yes, the obligatory Stephen Cohen article from The Nation... As if he doesn't hold biased views favouring Russia.

LTJ • 7 years ago

What an interesting and totally unsubstantiated claim. But it's easier to dismiss the author than dispute the facts, I suppose...

Guest • 7 years ago

Unsubstantiated? A number of people have criticised Cohen for his whitewashing of Putin's governance:

...Cohen pretty much refuses to utter or even countenance any critical remarks about Putin, not on gay rights or freedom of the press or the oligarchic concentration of power and money or anything else. He has expressed amazement that anyone would blame the Russian government for the 2006 murder of dissident journalist Anna Politkovskaya,...

LTJ • 7 years ago

Thanks for that - I guess. It was interesting in a "Wow, I've never seen salon.com publish anything so incoherent before" sort of way.

Some odd and contradictory statements and several accusations; but not much substantiation to be found. Quoting people in whole sentences and providing an origin or context for said-quote would be a huge step in the right direction for Mr. O'Hehir. Sometimes name-dropping Žižek and Nietzsche just isn't enough.

I don't give a flying f**k how many of you far-left fanbois jock Cohen, the guy is a Putin arselick and FOS on Russia. Vanden Heuvel is pretty tiresome too... The Nation is a pale shadow of what it used to be.

LTJ • 7 years ago

It might be true that "the guy is a Putin arselick", but neither you nor Andrew O'Hehir have done much to make the case. What is definitely true is that Stephen Cohen lays out his case with logic, clarity and precision. And the facts.

It might be his approach - he doesn't seem to start with an opinion and work backwards, as Andrew O'Hehir does.

Fascism issues, Kremtrool?

Styx • 7 years ago

you certainly have, lewd 'hero" ..

Guest • 7 years ago

I'm familiar with your crew: aprescoup, V4V, southernfink, etc. You guys are into heavily conspiratorial far-left/far-right third position mumbojumbo. Heavily antisemitic, anti-American, anarchist garbage. You read all the usual sources: Global Research, Rense, David Duke, etc. and worship at the altar of Pootie.

Styx • 7 years ago

you are hilarious, Revolutionary Comrade Preobrazhensky - Simba.
But do have another swig of your favorite beverage and do tell us more ..

Paul Craig Roberts academic credentials are well documented.

...as is his moonbattery. Tell us again about those thermite charges used to detonate WTC7? I missed the details at the last Bilderberg meeting.

Styx • 7 years ago

Careful, that was almost funny ..

Styx • 7 years ago

The article you are referring to contains very crude claptrap and baseless speculations. Nothing much more.

It is apparent that rubbishing posts written by people you disagree with in a rude, crude and openly hostile manner is your full time job on this site. You also have very serious anger issues and hide your comment history. Making abusive remarks is your speciality. Apart from that you have a troll which works in tandem with you who currently posts under the banner of Ukrainian Insurgent Army. Unsurprisingly, you are on very good terms with it.

Do you own this site ?

HAHAHA! That's not the first time I've been asked if I own Vice by one of you far-left dooshbags. Go put on your Guy Fawkes mask and throw a trashcan through a Starbucks window, Clown.

"HAHAHA! That's not the first time I've been asked if I own Vice by one of you far-left dooshbags. Go put on your Guy Fawkes mask and throw a trashcan through a Starbucks window, Clown."

The only clown around here is yourself.

Guest • 7 years ago

A cursory look at your comments shows you saying you're a Tory voter, which is a little strange indeed... So I may have been mistaken that you are far-left but you clearly subscribe to some sort of Third Positionist type dogma that you share with a number of far-left conspiracy cranks and fellow Kremlinistas. I'm just surprised you're not a Kipper, or a BNP supporter for that matter.

Styx • 7 years ago

"A cursory look at your comments shows you saying you're a Tory voter, which is a little strange indeed"

That is because you know next to nothing about British politics.

No little girls were killed by anybody in Crimea. The ones that were killed in Ukraine were by- and-large killed by the Ukrainian Amy and militias . Hopefully the training being given them by CF will help them avoid shelling civilian targets in future.

"How does current state of affairs between Russia and the west affect the past US military behaviour?"

It affects it going forward.

"Canada fought in all the battles we saw just, exceptions being Iraq and Vietnam because they were major failures, as admitted by a large portionof US government."

Canada did not officially participate in the the invasion of Iraq, and its post-invasion involvement was somewhat limited, though less so than officially admitted. When I mentioned Iraq I was thinking about Canada's more recent efforts in the fight against Daesh, although that has wound down somewhat since Trudeau's inauguration.

Randy O'Donnell • 7 years ago

Maybe the US should just stay out of the middle east?
