Yep. I can understand the impulse to dash off something in anger, even to use these pages as a way to help manage frustration. But as much as it seems like what we say here is "just letting off steam" there IS an effect on the world. Some posters here use language that alludes to violence ALL the time. Posters even attack other people for not being conservative enough, using really inappropriate language. I understand that the point of Breitbart is to arm us with information we can't get elsewhere, but it seems like the most active commenters are just promoting a state of continuous outrage. Aside from the fact that this probably isn't the most attractive way to educate others about our POV, it also makes for a terrible, really disturbing reading experience. And that's just on a typical day. Last night it looks like one of these people acted on this stuff. I mean, he was obviously nuts, but he also seems to have drawn energy and motivation from this form of communication. It saddens and frightens me. I have long thought we can be better, and now I think we MUST be better.

I'm not sure I understand your statement. Extreme violence and murder is used to bring people into compliance with Sharia Law. Once in compliance you must live in fear of death or physical punishment if you step out of line. I don't see how that's the religion of peace.

Update: I just ran across the first theory of a motive. The shooter being a copy-cat, due to all the press coverage of the Aurora shooter's trial. I'd say that's not unreasonable.
