When I watch a video of Yahoo Japan with chrome of ferenOS, error code 1001100 is displayed due to video trouble and I cannot watch the video. What should I do now?

Try going back into Tour and installing Restricted Codecs if you haven't already.

PS: This is a bad time to be commenting here, since it's the day this comments section closes down, so... if you need further help: https://ferenos.weebly.com/.... Sorry for the inconvenience.

Unfortunately, I've been mulling over this for a while now, but it's in everyone's best interests if I do this, so...

On Saturday 14th, the Feren OS website's comments page will officially be discontinued and archived. This will mean no more writing or editing comments.

If you want to retain communication with us, please check out https://ferenos.weebly.com/... for other ways you can talk to me for help with Feren OS if you ever need it.

It has been a great many years reading to and responding to your comments here, but due to the following factors I can't find it in good will to keep the comments section open for any longer:
- Disqus has no reliable way to notify me when people comment here (yes emails exist, and they are on by the way, but they're not exactly reliable either), so I get seriously delayed seeing comments on here
- Disqus has its own subset of issues, ones I'd rather move everyone on from
- I'm way more active on all other social media places than here, so you'll get a way better response time over on those than here

That aside, the rules:
1. Treat others as you want to be treated, and not with disrespect.
2. Respect the chat staff and their moderation decisions.
3. Post in a readable format and in English, as it's annoying to moderate stuff you can't properly read or understand immediately. (sorry people, we only primarily speak English)
4. Absolutely no illegal things are allowed in this chat.
6. Don't advertise your own content please.
7. Don't share any personal information.
8. No elitism, racism, sexism, homophobia, fascism, and so on (you get the point), or trans-phobia. Ironic racism is still racism.
9. Please don't use all capital letters in your messages, don't spam, and don't swear (if you really have to, please censor it).
10. No 'filth', dark (not to be confused with dank) memes and similar, or other NSFW content, please... (nor references to it) this includes profile pictures/names.

If you break these, prepare to be banned.

ℹ Use what software (including your Operating System) works for you, do not forget that.

I had a lot of problems with the last update of feren OS. errors popped up during the update that I manually fixed (kdenlive dependecies). now I don't get the shutdown, logout and restart dialog box and the nemo viewer is lagging behind.

Are you planning on FerenOS 2022 ISO? I love Feren Plasma

Thomas G • 2 years ago

Dear colleagues,
I installed Feren-OS today and have some troubles with the preview feature of the Files app (Nemo 5.2.4).
I select simple txt or jpg files, hit Space bar but nothing happens.
The store app shows the "Nemo-preview" add-on is installed.
Do I use it wrong? Thank you.
Regards, Thomas

by far the WORST damn installer i have ever encountered. this 2021 standard version. I downloaded this 4 times and INSTALLED it 4 times. when the INSTALLED Feren starts up...I

get.....the INSTALLER MENU for a startup page ! EVERY TIME ! geez. I went back and installed the old "classic" and it booted up fine. ON standard, it just boots up and presents me
with the INSTALLER menu! i click on install and it shuts down,. i go back i click on cancel and it shuts down. Absolute crap !

And wanted to know that my kinda old laptop was running cool till i updated to kernal 5.11.0-41or higher and it doesnt shut down properly but works just fine upto kernal 5.11.0-40. Is that a kernal problem or Distro not optimized properly with kernal , or is that a problem with just my hardware.

It has not been long since i started using linux and feren is my defualt OS so forgive me if i havent phrased my question properly as english is my 2nd language.

I am not seeing thumbnail icons in my Music folder in Nemo in Feren OS for my music album covers for individual songs (I have embedded album covers in my mp3 tags). I switched the preferences to show thumbnails for less than 4gb. No thumbnails are showing. When I was using Mint Cinnamon with Nemo, I didn't have this problem--the individual mp3 files showed the album cover thumbnails.

Thanks for Feren OS! I'm so glad to see someone finally port Nemo file manager to KDE, because Dolphin--though it has many fine features--tends to drop complex file transfer and copy operations without any notification, especially on external drives. This can lead to utter disaster for backups. I've been very disappointed to see KDE add so many improvements in terms of aesthetics and efficiency over the years, while still neglecting to repair this mission-critical issue, and even more alarmed to see business-oriented distros using Dolphin without warning. If there's a problem with the file manager, you fix that before you add other bells and whistles. So again, kudos to Feren OS for addressing the elephant in the room. Feren OS is now my daily driver.

I recently started using Feren OS again with a fresh install a few days ago. This after about a year away using Windows 10. Feren is now installed alongside Win10 on my Lenovo Helix laptop. FWIW, the TouchPad has never failed in Windows and I cannot recall it failing in Feren last year.

There is something very odd happening: the Synaptics TouchPad freezes intermittently and completely. After freezing the only solution I have found is to log out and back in, or reboot.

Can anyone here advise on some troubleshooting tips?

Just installed Feren and went to change desktop layout to "Familiar". Now, I have lost the super key shortcut that opens the menu. I went into "edit panel", menu "configure", "shortcuts", where I tried to reset the shortcut, but to no avail. Anyone know how to get it back?

Hi, I am a Chinese user (Simplified Chinese), and I remembered that at least one snapshot of Feren OS provided complete Chinese translations out of the box after a fresh install, but could not remember which one it is.

I only remember that it is a snapshot based on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, with Plasma of course, so it should be one of Dec 2019 snapshot, Jan 2020 snapshot, April 2020 snapshot (probably this one?) and July 2020 snapshot (probably not this one, I have installed this version again and the translation is not complete). I cannot find archives of these outdated snapshots except for the July 2020 one ("5 years old version", still available from Sourceforge), so I tested Feren OS Next RC2 from "Feren OS Development Builds" in place of Dec 2019 snapshot, but this RC2 still does not work correctly.

Anyway that snapshot is the last time I see a complete translation in Chinese in a fresh Feren install. For the Ubuntu 20.04 builds, I tried the Nov 2020 snapshot, and the latest April 2021 snapshot, neither of which provides anywhere near to a complete translation right after installation. Even if I manually used "Languages" in the main menu to install all packages for a full Chinese support, and searched manually in Synaptics for any "zh", "cn" and "hans" keywords and installed the packages, the translation is still broken, for about half of application names in the main menu remain not translated, and from place to place I can see untranslated labels in system softwares such as system settings.

I understand that the Dev Team is using English, but I see that Feren provides multilingual support even during live ISO bootup. I guess this issue might be fixed somehow by referencing how kubuntu or KDE neon works upon multilingual support. But right now I want to know if I might have access to the outdated snapshots listed above, especially Dec 2019, Jan 2020 and April 2020, so that I can install that one for a more comfortable Chinese experience and update the system to the latest. Thank you!

P.S. I don't know if this is the right place to leave the comment, or should I go to the Feedback Center...

I am seeing long log in times when I log out and then log back in. Looks like a KDE plasma issue. Anyone else seeing this?

Hi, I'm using Feren OS with KDE Plasma and in config -> Global themes I cannot install any of the themes on the store, It says that it could not install dependencies and it shows the link I think is for the theme.

Its a beautiful distro and I want to enjoy it but fixing first that bug, I'll appreciate some help

The system has crashed, after updating.
Apparently it is a KDE (kwin) incompatibility problem.

(I don't want to have to go back to KDE neon)

Thanks, I'm going to read it, and I'll try to make it work, since I really like what they have done with Feren, I simply have little time, and that the system depends on adapting to third-party changes can be complex in that regard .

it worked. everything fine after reboot, just some details like taskbar icons, or "kickoff-grid" is no longer (only normal "kickoff")

This latest upgrade seems to have not included any drivers for my printer. The prior versions found my Canon printer with no issue. I could probably go try and find them online somewhere but I have not had to do this with Mint, KDE or the previous versions and that covers the last 5 years or so.. My printer is a Canon MG2522. Any thoughts? Thanks kindly!...
