Dear Carla, As I read your piece describing your experiences with your blind son, it was like I had written it over 25 years ago! The SAME exact things happened to us when we were working to secure services in Kentucky for our deaf son. From the 'borderline IQ' diagnosis to the denial of services! It's incredibly sad that nothing much has changed in over two decades. Through early intervention services, strong advocacy, and hard work, our deaf son (who now hears with a cochlear implant) is a successful engineer. Thank you for sharing your story.
