What profit is there in kibbitzing from the sidelines?

Rich Gibson • 6 years ago

I've known Michael Moore since he was a late teen. He's always been a rat. He plagiarized a great deal of his early work from Ben Hamper, author of "Rivethead, Tales from the Assembly Line." Later he made "Roger and Me." In that film, he presaged his lifelong self-building and contempt for workers. Take note of his "workers on the chessboard" scene or "The Rabbit Lady." When the Detroit Committee to End the War wanted to find Roger, we found him easily and led a sit in. Now, Michael is a millionaire. He's running the same game he ran from the start: "Look at Me and Upend the System by Voting Democratic."

America is living a social genocide or at least starting one. Those "democrats" that sell sympathy are in reality buying their ticket out of that genocide. We live in a reality similarly to that on the 2012 movie where no one is trying to save humanity but getting their tickets out of cataclysm.
When all trusted supporters can't give more than their sympathy it means they don't believe in any salvation, and so the question, if they don't believe it why do people still believe in them? Well the answer is people do believe but less and less, and Trump is the proof of that. Things will become worst and the social genocide increasingly evident, not only due to misery but also murderer, the actual system is cannibalizing its own base just to survive, because being extremely levered on a ponzi scheme it can't compromise, its ultimate objective is to delay the next crash as far as possible, knowing that those who didn't bought the salvation ticket will became the accepted collateral damage!

They pound their fist in indignation over wealth inequality, etc, and then they tell us to vote for Democratic candidates who exacerbate the problem.

The acid test for any " socialist " is this : Does he or she question and challenge the moral legitimacy even of " legitimate " wealth ? A government of honest socialists would quickly create a very different world. A world without capitalist private property would be a world where most lawyers and judges and politicians would be suddenly unemployed ( but not destitute thanks to " compassionate socialism " ) . What use would we have for the advertising industry ? No more state lottery millionaires. Just deconstructing the military industrial complex, the POLICE STATE , will create a vast new " leisure class " - at least temporarily .
To be sure , a lot of these darlings of the ruling class will be useful in destroying the super-structure of American capitalism.
In a way these multi-million dollar state lottery tickets are nothing but propaganda for the capitalist way of life. ( YOU have " equal " opportunity here ? ) No WINNINGS will be respected under socialist equality. No trust funds for rich kids and no more rich widows in splendid mansions. No more PRIVATE collections of great art.
Think about this , " socialist " friends of Bernie Sanders . No , real socialism will not be bliss for YOU ! But before it is too late you will have an equal opportunity to join the mass of humanity.
Just a thought question : Could the capitalist class have continued to exist without making a world of misery ? Lenin thought that peaceful revolution was simply IMPOSSIBLE because the ruling class was " incurably greedy " . I commend David North for rescuing the real Lenin and the real Trotsky from ruling class academic servants. Whatever honest criticism might stick, they were honest revolutionary giants.

"They did not propose any serious measures to address the skyrocketing social inequality and domination of American society by the super-rich. Rather, the purpose of this material was to offer pretended sympathy for the poor from the Democratic Party and to promote the Democrats in the 2018 elections."

First I must say, Michael Moore is a phony opportunist who avidly supported Hillary Clinton and NOT Bernie Sanders in the 2016 election.
Hillary represented all the things which supposedly Michael Moore finds so reprehensible--extreme income and wealth inequality and the prevailing corruption on Wall Street.

As for Bernie Sanders, he can't offer any viable solutions to extreme wealth and income inequality because he does NOT discuss the endless wars in the Middle East and Africa and all the tax dollars which are absconded to fight those foreign wars and is responsible for austerity at home.

Bernie Sanders, as gone along with the militaristic Democrats in supporting and funding all military interventions in the Middle East. After trillions of dollars have been plundered from the treasury how could Sanders expect a dime to be left for Medicare-For-All or any of the other social programs he advocates.

Without addressing the "armored tank" in the room the "military industrial complex" you're ONLY offering sympathy to the indigent victims of imperialism and predatory capitalism and NO solutions.

And here lies the problem with the Democratic Party--every two or fours years they superficially embrace issues of social injustice just enough to
secure the naive hopeful electorate's vote. And then once they win the election all issues are forgotten and all the typical shenanigans prevail.

The Dems always vote to fatten the military budget, increase surveillance, abandon the immigrants, legislate for insurance companies so that healthcare is prohibitively expensive, and create laws which favor Wall Street, and never seriously address the Opioid crisis. It's always another Obama redux--of sweet smiles, identity politics, slick speeches, and lies.

The Dems are the most insidious because they're cognizant of the social injustices that prevail in our society and yet they willingly work for the ruling class to suppress and divert working-class outrage in order to prevent "real" social change.

Which prompts the not-so-rhetorical question: Who's more dangerous, your sworn enemy or the enemy who pretends to be your friend?

Charlotte Ruse • 6 years ago

I say the much more dangerous one is the enemy that pretends to be your friend--ET tu Brutus

As one who has been opposed to most things republican and is a recovering democritter. (I quit the party during Bill clintons 1st term) After the 9/11 false flag attack on NYC I have been fighting against the dem party. The old friends who once were anti war and anti wall street are now neoliberals. except for a scab crossing picket lines they are the lowest form of life on earth. Below the slug and the scorpion. They now support the wars and killing of innocent civilians and they are silent on the murders of blacks by the police. A policy that has put in place by the government. Moore is a phony just like Obama is a phony. I think the dems are going lose big during the midterms. At least I hope so. Are the republicans worse? Not any longer.
The revolution will not be on Facebook!

LM • 6 years ago

Yeah, my Democratic acquaintances (can't call them friends) don't communicate with me anymore. They don't want to hear what I have to say, especially since they can't refute any of it.

Zeke Krahlin • 6 years ago

So, Percy, just what do you have to say, that your Democratic acquaintances who aren't your friends, can't refute? Or do you insist we're supposed to believe such a nebulous claim?

LM • 6 years ago

When I pointed out the rightwing character of a particular Democrat--say, Obama or Clinton--and cited some history as illustration, I got no response. When I pointed out that many of the "dumb sons of bitches" (their words, not mine) who voted for Trump or abstained had voted for Obama before that, they did not respond.

Zeke Krahlin • 6 years ago

You're right! You answered my snarky challenge superbly...I certainly underestimated you. My apologies, Percy. Chris Hedges is one author/activist who's been warning us about the hypocrisy of the Democratic Party, especially Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, for years now. For example:

......."Greens' political platform, but at the very least, they have no association with the accursed Democratic entity".
They have every association with the Democratic war party...I was a Green. They collaborate with SD's all the time. They are SD's painted over with the veneer of hypocrisy.

And yes Moore should be crucifeid, until he denounces the bourgeois set up and becomes a member of the SEP. Otherwise he's as phony as a 3 dollar bill.

Deplorable,
You wrote:"We might not agree with the Greens' political platform, but at the very least, they have no association with the accursed Democratic entity."
Have you forgotten that Jill Stein offered the Green Party's presidential candidacy to Bernie Sanders?!
The Greens may fain independence from the Democratic Party and the capitalist system, but at the crucial moment the Greens will show their true colors..
Fraternally,
Warren

Moore is a good example how a person with a talent and knowledge still could behave as a stupid ignoramus just because of his class affiliation.

Warren Duzak • 6 years ago

I would suggest that Moore is a wealthy and sometimes talented film director whose real affiliation is not with the working class but the upper, upper middle class where he resides.
