How does one describe Lisa Carrington. I'm not very good with words so I won't even try. She is now equal with 3 other NZers with the amount of Olympic medals she has won with 5. Lisa still has 2 events to go. She is the only kiwi ever to win 3 Olympic golds in 3 different games in the same event. 2 golds today, one in the K1 200 and one with partner Caitlin Regal in the K2 500. Today Lisa had 4 races (2 semi and 2 finals) in just over 3 hours not just winning them all quite easily but won all 4 in Olympic winning times. As I said I would not know where to start to describe this amazing women. https://uploads.disquscdn.c...

You're doing a great job with these sporting highlights Carl. Look forward to them every night.

What does GOAT In The Boat mean?

Carl • 2 years ago

Greatest of all time.

Cairn216 • 2 years ago

Thanks. Very appropriate too.

Curly • 2 years ago

Just like Richie

Nige. • 2 years ago

🤣 🐐🚢

I love how we learn things here.

STAG • 2 years ago

She's a fine looking woman, call me a misogynist, but theres nothing more attractive then a woman in peak physical condition.

Frank N Furter • 2 years ago

I was listening to a couple of work acquaintances criticise her shoulder physique a week or so ago.
I am a happily married man, but I would love a hug from those shoulders and arms. If nothing else it would get me real close to that deadly serious smile. (Probably be a different sort of deadly smile from Mrs FNF though.)

Marquis de Condercet • 2 years ago

What about a man with a bit of chum huh!

Hill16 • 2 years ago

Nothing wrong in appreciating a fantastic male or female athletic form. Speaking as a female, I think she looks amazing.

Halbert judges are going to have a tough time this year.

Frank N Furter • 2 years ago

Lets hope that the Halberg judges do not go woke and award points for degree of difficulty and grace under defeat.
If they did, you know who/what would be a shoe-in for either the male or female category.

GoingRight • 2 years ago

Watched all the NZ rowers, so incredible what this lass has achieved and at the end doesnt even looked puffed!! Seems like a thoroughly nice person and a real team player. Her partner Caitlin also is amazing and I think ten years younger so we have years of looking ahead to some great sporting viewing. Wishing them all the best for tomorrow when the ‘8’s race.

Carl • 2 years ago

They only race in 4's.

GoingRight • 2 years ago

Whoops, numerical error!

Kahawai • 2 years ago

Incredible women. Well Done.

Richard • 2 years ago

Ardern taking leave from a "little winter sniffle" doesn't pass the sniff test.
More likely she is dope sick from the 2nd jab last week.

STAG • 2 years ago

2nd jab hurt like an illegitimate child.

Greg Moore • 2 years ago

And of course having to face question time in the house today after three weeks off had nothing to do with it. /Tui.

Kirsty • 2 years ago

Hope she is getting tested with a swab up the snout. Be a shame if she caught covid from the weekend apology crowd

Richard • 2 years ago

She looked dreadful at that, I initially thought she had employed the ultimate concerny face, but now it's clear she was suffering the after effects of something else.

KatB • 2 years ago

I think she should be getting tested and staying home and the rest of her household staying home and anybody else she's been in contact with, (Beehive). Maybe the KFC worker has some advice for her.

Mtp • 2 years ago

Toilet brush might be a more snug fit than a swab.... More accurate to for what comes out her mouth

Frank N Furter • 2 years ago

She also had that enormous "forgiveness" mat covering her on Sunday. Who knows what sort of livestock that may have been harbouring, and the micro-atmosphere that it created while she was entombed in it.

Flattanker • 2 years ago

We can only live in hope my friend...

Curly • 2 years ago

A 20% drop in your parties popularity would make you pretty sick when you are trying to implement communism

SpencerArnold • 2 years ago

So, on the story about Poto Williams being "bottled", the media lead with the fact that her family were upset, and only clarify later down the article that it was not about violence.

Rule # 2 in media; if the facts don't match your agenda, report emotions because someone's feelings are never wrong!

STAG • 2 years ago

What gets me is he was middling as a man, often bottled it and has a history of not handling pressure, so why wasnt his predilection to blow it taken into account by the selectors, were they so focused on his pretence at being a woman, they forgot about his pretence of being a weight lifter?

I’ve just learnt a new word. Hagiography. Fabulous!

Nige. • 2 years ago

Here we go. Warning. Contains Issac Butterfield. And he's got a filthy mouth.

It's not 'polite to call her a her' because he is not a 'her', he is a he

Richard • 2 years ago

Why take 15:42 to say something that you can say in 8:52...

D.Dave • 2 years ago

I, for one, am pleased that Gavin Hubbard didn't make the grade in the weightlifting. It was a disgrace that we allowed him to compete against women. As a nation we were outraged when the Aussies bowled underarm in a cricket match, yet this is our underarm moment and we should hang our heads in shame.

alex • 2 years ago

personally ignore and refuse to celebrate anything about the Olympics.. these games are tarnished

A.Gadsen • 2 years ago

In what way are the games tarnished?

alex • 2 years ago

they've been used to push an authoritarian ideology..

STAG • 2 years ago

Hear hear brother,

alex • 2 years ago

last time anyone tried that there was a massive boycott

A.Gadsen • 2 years ago

I think it would have been more authoritarian if they had not happened at all.

maskless • 2 years ago

Yep refuse to watch and wont read any stoies.

STAG • 2 years ago

Great sporting analogy, except it wasn't to our sporting family (Aus), we spit in the face of the entire sporting world.

Kirsty • 2 years ago

Unfortunately this now means male transgender will be in the Olympics competing against women for ever more. Gavin will go down in history for helping to pave the way. Today I heard the media singing his praises for being so gracious in defeat.

If he had won and there were protests about males competing as females, the outcome may have been better in the long term.

D.Dave • 2 years ago

Perhaps they need a class for eunuchs, because that is essentially what they are.

Bob Down • 2 years ago

Not this fellow, from what I understand. He's still got what many of our MPs haven't!

Greg Moore • 2 years ago

That's the problem. Next olympics all eight of the finalists in the womens 100m will be Trevors.

Kahawai • 2 years ago

Or Chaz's.

Gaynor • 2 years ago

So glad that a medal from Hubbard is not in our Olympic Records forever as a shameful thing .......

Craig M. • 2 years ago

"... we should hang our heads in shame."

Ummm, no! He alone is responsible for his disgraceful behavior. Not me... Not you... Not any kiwi, that's for damn sure.

Phil View • 2 years ago

Perhaps, the Para-Olympics will be his next target. Discrimination that able bodied trans-athletes can't compete where they want to.
