Thanks for the Tip, I'll be sure to let Toby know about this frother as well. It's 2021, we don't have time for no burnt frothers haha. 🙌🏽 Keep enjoying ❤️☕️-Adrian
I don't have time to make lots of small coffees during the day so a large mug is better for me. Wondering why you didn't introduce the double-shot pod as a solution?
Great question! For almost all of our intensities, we recommend using our short shot: this gets all those elusive oils and all the goodness out of your pod - this includes the Double Shot. Our Double Shot pod isn't about it having more coffee in it ( in order to double the amount of coffee, we’d literally need to double the pod ) Our Double Shot features double the amount of caffeine (versus) coffee. If you have a large mug - give our specific Long Shot pods a whirl - they have been designed for a bigger cup - ☕Nicole
Hi Toby,
I have just read your tips on how to achieve the best coffee. Being a very fussy coffee drinker (no one else makes my coffee) i found that what you have said is quite similar to how i make mine except the bit about frothing the milk was very interesting as i also found with the coiled whisker there is way too much froth! and yes using the standard one does the job just fine. One little hint that i use as i like my coffee very hot is before hand i fill the cup with boiling water and let it sit for a couple of minutes. I will give you a bit of a plug here Toby, my sister and i where talking coffee at Christmas and i was saying how disappointed i have been with the pods i have been using for some time, so much so i very rarely used my machine, she immediately made me a coffee with one of your pods and Bingo! Whow!
they are awesome! I havn't looked back since. Love your pods to death and also your presentations. May i ask a question? I recently purchased some Waffle Cups but was quite disappointed with the result, very soggy and fell apart, now i am confident that i have done something wrong here, can you tell me what? On parting keep up the good work and posts, i really am loving them!

Nicole jumping in for Toby here! Thank you so much for your lovely message - we are thrilled to hear that you’ve found a way to perfect your coffee-making process, and I love your tip about pre-heating the cup with boiling water. It’s such a simple step, but it makes a huge difference when you like your coffee piping hot!
I’m so glad your sister introduced you to our pods, and I couldn’t be happier that you’re loving them as much as we love making them!
As for the Waffle Cups, we made a helpful video with some tips here: https://www.urbanbrew.co/bl...
I've just dropped you an email to follow up and help out a little further ❤️
Thanks again for your message and for being part of the Urban Brew Crew!
Thanks for the tips. Personally I heat my milk in the microwave intead of frothing..that way you get the heat without the froth. Just my preference.
P.s. love the pods 👏 🙌 👌
🙌🙌 Glad to hear you found this helpful. - Camille ❤☕
I'm interested in the advice to use a long shot pod if you have your coffee in a mug coz one pod is obvs too weak but because my mug is on the small side 2 pods can be a bit too strong. (Before I was given this mug 2 pods were perfect for my bigger mug!) I don't like the idea of using the long shot button though for the reasons Toby mentions. So now trying to decide if I should try a long shot pod or 2 weaker strength pods...🤷❓
One tip I've found to help clean the bottom of the mikl frother you are using is to put a small amount of water in it and let it sit. That loosens the milk caught on the bottom and makes it far easier to clean by wiping with a soft cloth.
Great move there Ian, love your work. Definitely is best to clean with a soft cloth when able to do so. ❤☕-Adrian
Hi.
At work, I use a Nespresso machine but don't have access to milk, so we normally have more of an espresso-style coffee. Any tips for a better coffee without the milk?
Hi Adam! Great question! For a long/short black we recommend the #8 or the #6 intensity. For a long black, we recommend using the short shot only (1 or 2 pods) and top up with hot water from the kettle. Here's a blog post you might find helpful on preparing a long back https://www.urbanbrew.co/bl... .I hope this helps! :) - Renee
Hi,
I have a Delonghi Nespresso machine with inbuilt milk frother. It makes perfect milk froth and is much easier to clean than my old separate milk frother. Worth a try for anyone looking to simpify the process.
Oooh, nice one Heather! Thanks for your tip : ) - Brenda
Thank you for the milk frother tip. I will try this next time I make my coffee. I don't usually use the milk frother because it makes a lot a fronth and just a little bit of milk so I end up throwing a lot.
You're most welcome Fox! It's definitely a game changing technique, saves you so much wasted milk too : ) - Brenda
Hi Toby, what about how to reset the Aldi pod machines?
Hi Mink! Please check out this blog for how to reset your K-Fee/Aldi machine: https://www.urbanbrew.co/bl... : ) - Brenda
I've changed the default short shot size on my K Fee machine to 30ml rather than the default 40ml. What size to you feel is best suited to your pods? (I've just placed my first order with you, so I don't have your capsules yet to experiment with, but I have found that all of the Aldi capsules are absolutely tasteless at both 40ml and 30ml)
Hi Michael, we recommend the best extraction with our pods is the 40mls. 😊☕ - Camille
Thanks Camille. I'll set it back to the 40ml default. Looking forward to receiving your capsules. :)
Thanks for the pod tips! will give that a go.
Do yourself a favour, ditch the nespresso milk frother and get a Breville 'The Choc & Cino' Milk Frother. It can do 2 lots of milk at once and its dishwasher friendly.
I've 'burnt' out too many of the nespresso ones over the years, this one is stainless.
