It is sad, is it not, that after all that HaShem has done for His Chosen People, that they still reject Him and look to other nations for their help? At the beginning of this calendar year, i was reading, again, the book of the prophet Yirmeyahu the son of Hilkiyahu, for my personal devotions. Time, and time again, I saw parallels between the situation of the Jewish people in his day, and that of the Jewish people today. HaShem is omnipotent - but even He cannot bless those who are not obedient to His revealed Word.

May I encourage all true descendants of Avraham, Yitz’chak, and Ya‘akov to read, not just the book of the Exodus, as the rabbi suggested, but the whole of the Tanakh - and discover what HaShem is saying to you today?!

Learn about the remarkable events that took place prior to the exodus from Egypt and why the observance of Passover is of primary importance to Jewish survival.

Learn about ancient Jewish weddings, and you will see the significance of what this "dress rehearsal" and therefore what virgins being ready with oil wicks is all about.

“AVRAHAM, WITH HIS GIANT INTELLECT” worked out “ON HIS OWN” the existence of one G-D???!!!!
Rabbi! With all due respect, WHAT NONSENSE!!! G-D, in His Sovereign Grace, REVEALED HIMSELF to the Patriarch!! This wasn’t some kind of theory Avraham arrived at!! On his own Avraham could do nothing!! Who says that he was a giant intellect anyway?!
In Bereishit/Genesis 12 &15 the Almighty One reveals Himself to Avraham. It’s clear that before this he did NOT know the L-RD.

Jews are commanded by God in the Torah to remember and enact His deliverance of our People out of 430 years of slavery. And God Himself enacts his watchful eye on every Jew throughout the World - during our observances of His Passover Miracle (just as He DID thousands of years ago!) From our Seder tables - to our coming home “safe”. Year after year, generation to generation, into eternity.

EXODUS 12:42:

“It is a night that is GUARDED BY GOD to bring the JEWS out of the land of Egypt; THIS NIGHT will be a night FOR GOD TO WATCH “all the children of Israel” THROUGHOUT THE GENERATIONS.”

It's not clear to me how many of the 430 years were years of slavery. At first Joseph and his family were highly honoured guests. I expect that probably lasted for at least 1 generation.

Why not Harry Potter?

Well sadly that's a work of fiction. Supporting evidence? Fail!

I'm sick to death about the Jewish people, always the Jewish people, like they were the only ones enslaved in Egypt and the only ones led out of Egypt. The Whole House of Israel consists of twelve tribes! Judah has indeed kept the Covenant, and the rulership will not depart from Judah; but they are still the smaller part of the Whole House of Israel. The Lost Ten Tribes are prophesied to return to the Covenant and also to the Promised Land. They are only lost in Christianity at the moment. Remove all the pagan beliefs and practices from Christianity and what remains is Leviticism (aka Judaism). The prodigal son parable will play out. In my day, I pray.

Notice that Faith in blood of the lamb saved the Israelites ;)

Tal • 2 years ago

Don't twist it. it was faith in G-d that saved the Israelite. The lamb was an Egyptian idol, and G-d commanded them to slaughter it and mark their doorposts for the purpose of showing their faith in the ONE G-D and removal of the vestiges of idolatry.

This is very interesting. Why did he skip the 40years of wondering in the desert after being emancipated from egypt?

yehudabendavid • 4 years ago

40 years in the desert resulted in the death of those who experienced slavery of which they were psychologically affected. Those people born while wandering had no recollection of slavery and could get on with their lives as free people beholden to HaShem . Passover is a celebration of "freedom" while never forgetting slavery. An important message for many, even today, who continue to wallow in a slavery they have not experienced and use it as a crutch for their failure to get on with their lives.

For Jewish people the 40-year period from its physical to spiritual emancipation from Egyptian slavery is a very very short spurt. For other peoples it takes centuries...
