"The most important moment in Israel's history" is, as always, This Moment. The moment we're in is the only moment that has ever existed since the Beginning. Love the Lord, seek Adonoi's Happiness & Pleasure. For Hashem to taste something delicious, someone (or some critter) must put that yumm in his/her mouth. We are truly in the Image of the Lord. Reading this? Alive? Love God, the best and perhaps the only path to a worthwhile life.

I love being a Jew with our heritage and culture but I have a hard time accepting the Holocaust and everything associated with it.

God waited 400 years before telling Moses to tell Pharoah "Let my people go."

No one should be so horribly murdered as the Nazis did to 7 million + Jews.

I hated Elie Wiesel for forgiving the Nazis and hate every Jew that thinks that way.

I wish every Nazi and his entire family would be destroyed.

Vijayakumar Samuel • 6 years ago

Bill I am not a Jew nor I stay in Israel. I visited Israel in 2005 went to the Holocaust museum, that disturbed me till I left the land. I still cant come to grip with the fact that for over 3000 years Jews have been wandering while their land remained desolate, a land flowing with milk and honey!! and add to that the holocaust. So I keep reading how the holocaust survivors have come to accept and live life as nothing happened. I dont know who you lost that you have allowed bitterness to take over. How ever God has a plan which he has revealed in the Bible and accordingly He is coming back for his people. May be when he rules in Israel you can clarify all your doubts in fact The TANACH has all the answers
In Gen15:16 God gives the answer to your statement "God waited 400 years before telling Moses to tell Pharoah "Let my people go."- the sin of the Amorites God is not only God of the Jews he is the God of the Universe-Melech Ha Olam" right ,so He is being fair to all. Do you know there is a saying its Divine to forgive and that forgiveness brings healing to the one who offers forgiveness. Hey do you know that your wish-"I wish every Nazi and his entire family would be destroyed." is coming true/ fulfilment.
Angela Merkel is doing just that -All the Muslim refugees are going there with only one aim to wreck that society including France.
God said I will punish the nation they serve- Gen15:14- Egyptians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Romans and every other nation that oppressed the Diaspora. So just hold your peace now is the time to comfort
Israel His people and speak tenderly to Jerusalem-Isaiah 40:1 & vs6- say to the towns of Judah " HERE IS YOUR GOD'"
God Bless you and your people Israel ,Jerusalem eternal capital of Israel.

Not all Germans are / were Nazis. Nazi ideology is that everyone else is subhuman somehow & therefore should be destroyed. People who think like that (e.g. Islamic extremists) should be annihilated like the Amelekites. That is called self defence.
Hatred is only bad when it is unjustified. The problem is that too many people believe lies & therefore hate without just cause. The fakestinians are a classic example of this. Moses on the other hand killed an Egyptian taskmaster & buried the body in sand after he saw him beating a Jewish slave.

Vijayakumar Samuel • 5 years ago

I fully agree to the response against the Nazi ideology my core point is that one cannot carry on with the hatred. Like a jew whose entire family got wiped out by the Nazi Germany should not continue the hatred of Germans of today who are not jew haters. I hope I have clarified my stand. Because if the hatred continues to the present generation then the person who hates will become sickly both mentally and physically. That is why the TANACH talks about avenging, and cities of refuge . The Western governments intervened in the Nurnberg trials and prevented gallows to the Nazi criminals which had it been executed many of the jews would have the right relationship with the present German population. This is my personal opinion and changing it depends on how well the facts are put forth. Thank you

edan • 1 year ago

The only problem I have with that part of the Exodus story. Moses was a part of the Royal Family, brother of Pharoah. He had nothing to fear for killing a taskmaster, no matter the excuse. The Royals killed whomever they wished, and there was no punishment.

Benjamin120 • 1 year ago

Moses was Jewish, not Egyptian. He was not part of the royal family. He was adopted by Pharaoh's daughter, to the reluctance of Pharaoh.
Pharaoh's astrologers had warned him before the birth of Moses, that the Jewish redeemer was about to be born.
As a response, Pharaoh ordered, "All sons who will be born, you shall cast into the river."
When baby Moses was brought to royal residence, Pharaoh gradually grew suspicious. When Moses killed an Egyptian, that was all Pharaoh needed, to convince Pharaoh that this man is a threat to the Egyptian people, and to have Moses executed.

Ruven Golan • 5 years ago

hate does not = self defense

thereligionofpeace.com • 5 years ago

I agree. That's why I didn't equate the 2. However in the example I gave, Moses killed out of hatred of the injustice & defending an innocent slave, rather than self defence.

Ruven Golan • 5 years ago

there are many many explanations

edan • 1 year ago

I've had the same issue. I cannot understand how the G-d we bowed and scrapped to, even in our exiles, allowed 7 Million to be so brutally slaughtered, tortured, belittled, and mistreated. Worked as slaves, until death. It's haunted me since my 1st introduction to the Holocaust at my Jewish Community Center as a young teen. I always felt Germany should have been divided among the 6 nations surrounding it, and the language banished from Earth forever.

if Jews had made every effort tolive in Israel, the Diaspora and Holocaust would have been smaller

Aristobulus • 4 years ago

Erm?, when, in the 19th century?, nope. The Turks prevented Jews to come in, and from what all those Jews (if they had come in) would have lived?, it was a region consisting of desert and marsh.
And when the Jews came in later, the Brits prevented them from coming. Remember, they built lager in Cyprus and sent ships back to Germany.

Damian Sco • 1 year ago

The issue was not "trying to live in Israel" The issue is leaving God out of everyday life, seeking instead money, pleasures of the flesh, and rationalizing away when the Commandments are either ignored or intentionally violated. THIS is what prevented the Jews from occupying the Land ordained to them any earlier.

Shlomo • 5 years ago

"Shavuot" = "weeks" (the 7 weeks between Passover and Shavuot). It does NOT mean "oaths". The word "oath" = "she'vuah", and "oaths" = "She'vuot", not "Shavuot".

Ruven Golan • 5 years ago

same root word

Shlomo • 5 years ago

True, but one must not infer from this common root that "oaths" = "weeks".

Adonai have done as amazing job. Considering that nations have tried to annihilate the Nation of Israel for 1000s of years. And without the Most High the nation of Israel would not be around today. Learn to Bless Hashem instead denying His greatness and just maybe He might open your eyes so that you can see the truth.

Baruch Hashem

Isaiah 6

8 Then I heard the voice of Adonai saying,

“Whom should I send?
Who will go for us?”

I answered, “I’m here, send me!”

9 He said, “Go and tell this people:

‘Yes, you hear, but you don’t understand.
You certainly see, but you don’t get the point!’

10 “Make the heart of this people [sluggish with] fat,
stop up their ears, and shut their eyes.
Otherwise, seeing with their eyes,
and hearing with their ears,
then understanding with their hearts,
they might repent and be healed!”

Please clarify the part that is not good English. Tenocratic=technocrat? Even so, it makes no sense.

Would you please explain where milk and meat were separated? Because, the way I read it, it says that a kid should not be boiled in its mother's milk! In order to avoid this kind of cruelty (with water scarce in the desert, millk had to be used), being that the mother can easily identify its own kid by smells, this might have absolutely nothing to do with separating meat from milk!

The national constitution, The Decalogue, was delivered to the Jewish People and they became Israeli and not Hebrews. This was the pre-emptive step of Nationhood required for the fulfillment of the Covenant and delivery into the Promised Land that is by Divine Grant. The land was to be conquered to demonstrate to the world that it is God that owns the earth and it is God that decides who owns what.

By direct divine intervention over the specious 'ownership' provisions of human prescription that an accidental possession is a true charge over the land is shown to be the falsehood that it is. The Jewish claim to Judea has an irresistible provenance that is unmatched by any other people. No power can supplant that claim.

No favors needed. It's like telling someone who has lived at home all his life on speaking terms with his parents that now he mustn't speak to them directly any more but only thru an interpreter! This while he continues to speak daily to his parents and they to him!
After death we all return to the Creator of whom we came. There is no where else to go. Hell is a Christian invention based on Greek beliefs.

Vijayakumar Samuel • 5 years ago

Hell is not a christian invention or Greek belief. Because for all of these its the Hebrew Old Testament forms the base . It talks about "Sheol" and there are many passages that refer to it-

few references I give here:Deuteronomy 32:22;2 Samuel 22:6;;Psalms 9:17;Psalms 16:10;
Psalms 86:13;there are many more.God Bless you

Dvirah Talbi • 5 years ago

"Sheol" means "grave", not Hell. Christians have consistently mistranslated the Torah and also misquoted it, with the result that they believe the words to mean something entirely different from what they do actually mean. We are not going to break the Covenant, nor stop speaking directly to our Creator.

Damian Sco • 1 year ago

There are many places where the Scriptures prove there are alternative interpretations to the one you have chosen, but this is the most clear:
Deuteronomy 32:19-25
God saw it and spun around, angered and hurt by his sons and daughters. He said, “From now on I’m looking the other way. Wait and see what happens to them. Oh, they’re a turned-around, upside-down generation! Who knows what they’ll do from one moment to the next? They’ve goaded me with their no-gods, infuriated me with their hot-air gods; I’m going to goad them with a no-people, with a hollow nation incense them. My anger started a fire, a wildfire burning deep down in Sheol, Then shooting up and devouring the Earth and its crops, setting all the mountains, from bottom to top, on fire."

OR

"For a fire will be kindled by my wrath,
one that burns down to the realm of the dead below." One needs no REALM if merely referring to a grave!

OR for your benefit:

32:22 כִּי־אֵשׁ קָדְחָה בְאַפִּי וַתִּיקַד עַד־שְׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּית וַתֹּאכַל אֶרֶץ וִֽיבֻלָהּ וַתְּלַהֵט מוֹסְדֵי הָרִֽים׃

where it (שְׁאוֹל) is translated in other places as :grave (31x), hell (31x), pit (3x).

Good morning Dvirah,

I am pleased that you speak directly to your Creator - and not just chant repetitious words which all false religions do - they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. Elohim wants you to speak to him as a child speaks to his Father - from your heart, in an attitude of love and fellowship. Although quoting His Word from Scripture in prayer is another way of showing that you love His Word and treasure it above all of your own words or thoughts.

Some of the heartfelt expressions in a Psalm are so beautiful that they make my words seem so weak - but nontheless, He wants to hear my voice, see my tears, comfort me in my sorrows, and draw me closer to Him.

When you speak to Him as "His child" you get to know Him in a very personal way and you will feel enveloped by His love - whether you be Jew or Gentile. I have known Him in this way now for 56 years and long for the day when I shall see Him face to face.

Shalom.

Damian Sco • 1 year ago

True, but what difference does it make who described it first? No one wants to remain there for all eternity!

Damian Sco • 1 year ago

On the contrary, Jesus prayed DIRECTLY to the Father. And showed everyone who hears Him, how to pray. No intermediary is required!. However, invoking His name is to remind US (not God) that when we speak in prayer, those who do acknowledge His sacrifice (Is 53 above) will be looked upon by God as if WE were the Messiah (i.e. in equally good standing). This does not of course mean we are without sin, as He was, but that we can appropriate His goodness if we believe.

thereligionofpeace.com • 5 years ago

If Jesus returns & stops all the wars in the world, all terrorism & all the countries in the world disarmed, then I would believe that he is the Messiah. I believe that only God himself would be able to do this & that Jesus was a test of faith. Many Jews abandoned their Jewish identity because of Jesus & because of dirty Mo.

Damian Sco • 1 year ago

Does this sound like the Messiah you are waiting for

(Is 53:" Who would have thought God’s saving power would look like this?

2-6 The servant grew up before God—a scrawny seedling,
a scrubby plant in a parched field.
There was nothing attractive about him,
nothing to cause us to take a second look.
He was looked down on and passed over,
a man who suffered, who knew pain firsthand.
One look at him and people turned away.
We looked down on him, thought he was scum.
But the fact is, it was our pains he carried—
our disfigurements, all the things wrong with us.
We thought he brought it on himself,
that God was punishing him for his own failures.
But it was our sins that did that to him,
that ripped and tore and crushed him—our sins!
He took the punishment, and that made us whole.")

Perhaps this was the FIRST TIME HE CAME. Period, full stop!

AND NOW< THIS will be the one we ALL are waiting for, for HE will be the "BEST OF EVERYTHING,THE HIGHEST HONORS", and in a very real sense, the One who EARNED His calling as the Meshiach!:

ISaiah continues v. 10
"Still, it’s what God had in mind all along,
to crush him with pain.
The plan was that he give himself as an offering for sin
so that he’d see life come from it—life, life, and more life.
And God’s plan will deeply prosper through him.

11-12 Out of that terrible travail of soul,
he’ll see that it’s worth it and be glad he did it.
Through what he experienced, my righteous one, my servant,
will make many “righteous ones,”
as he himself carries the burden of their sins.
Therefore I’ll reward him extravagantly—
the best of everything, the highest honors—
Because he looked death in the face and didn’t flinch,
because he embraced the company of the lowest.
He took on his own shoulders the sin of the many,
he took up the cause of all the black sheep."

thereligionofpeace.com • 1 year ago

He was somewhat like the Meshiach and preached a lot of good things, but I still think that he was a test of faith and the reason why Jews are still divided. Those who chose to follow him in early days were all ethnically Jews including the disciples, but they all lost their identity as Jews and were treated even more cruelly by the Romans before Rome legalised Christianity. God could not allow us all to lose our Jewish identity because that would mean that he would break his promise to our forefathers.

My personal opinion coincides with the reform movement i.e. that one day there will be a Messianic age with or without an actual human we call the Messiah. There's a clue in the last line of the Ein Keloheinu prayer which says "You are our Messiah."

johntyd • 1 year ago

Why does the faith of Christians depend upon the coercion and pestering
of others to comply with their own? If you had any confidence in your
beliefs you would not have need of the psychosis of enforcing
conformity. The Jews cannot be converted to your idolatrous creed. Get
over it. You're pathetic. The whole business of apotheosis and
messianism are idolatrous pagan importations that corrupt the Divine
intent of the Decalogue. We've all had enough of the 'religion of love'
just like we've had enough of the 'religion of peace'. Israel abides by
her God. The God of Israel has shown Its hand.
