When was a 3rd runway first mooted, 31BC was it, therefore surely by now there can't be anybody living under the flight path that wasn't expecting it one day, in fact some people must have moved to the area since plans were first aired.
The £5bn subsidy which Heathrow is expecting could be spent far more effectively in the constituencies of those northern MPs who favour Heathrow. Do they really want more subsidy for London? Gatwick is cost free to the public purse and leaves the government with £5bn it could usefully spend elsewhere.
