I think it is disingenuous to say that it's those that generally paid the least who got stung when it's companies like Virgin Holidays/Virgin Atlantic that are proving again and again how badly they have handled refunds (I am personally still waiting for mine and still can not speak to a real person about it - they've only had our full balance for the last 6 months) and yet the more value companies, such as Jet 2, have absolutely shone through in how they have handled their customers. He is right that customers will remember and that they will be more careful and,judging by some of the comments and support groups on social media forums companies, such as Virgin, will struggle to regain their reputation for a very long time.
