We are clearly being governed by fools. UK infection rate is amongst the highest in the world. Where cases are rising in other countries it is in very specific areas rather than across whole countries. We had six months when we ought to have instituted quarantine but it didn't happen and now that people have been told they are OK to travel, we have decided to start random quarantining. I was in France just over a week ago and everyone was taking more precautions than in the UK around hand washing, social distancing, alcohol gel and mask wearing. The government are unable to enforce quarantine, even if they say they are going to, and since Cummings' eye-test trip to Barnard Castle the government have lost any credibility they had around telling people what to do and expecting to be listened to. It feels like they are trying to cause chaos and uncertainty, trash the outbound tourism industry and look stupid whilst doing so. If they wanted to create mass instability and uncertainty they probably couldn't have done a better job!

Brilliantly put Giles.
We are being governed by fools and unpleasant inveterate liars

They’re not telling us anything we didn’t already know. Obviously the more movement there is the more the virus will spread. So continue with lockdown, let the economy completely crash, let the people go completely mad land lose all hope, start riots, start looting and by then the virus will still be with us! Noel is right, the government is doing a great job in scaring people, instead of using common sense in their approach.

The UK Government and Ministers are damned if they do and damned if they don't! What is absolutely certain, is the virus is still at large. Even Greece has seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 infections in the past few weeks; and it has thousands of islands, separated by miles of sea!

You’re pretty good at geography!

Mike • 4 years ago

And what on earth is the relevance of Greece's apparent thousands of islands?
A more relevant statistic would be the number of lies, deceptions, about turns and dreadful decisions made by that Billy Bunter oaf who pretends to lead this country

I have to agree with Ian Duncan Smith Madness is the right word. If we wipe out a whole country because it has spikes in certain areas makes no sense. We at the moment have spikes in Manchester and Preston does that mean France will put quarantine restrictions for their citizens coming home from visiting say Cornwall and London.
