I certainly wouldn't like to be the guy in the hot seat on this UK government watch but there does appear to be a real misalignment of logic. Yes there is a spike but as the Spanish minister says most areas with a spike are less so than that of the UK and the measures here in Spain are somewhat more strict than in the UK, which will result in a quicker drop in cases. The preparation around the beaches etc is quite awesome, ensuring social distancing and the late nite hot spots closed down with any sign of inappropriate Covid related issues. Were it not for the economic aspects, being resident in Spain, I'd say keep the brits out as they are in a worse state than Spain. I know everyone is doing the their best to make sense of this but with all that is at stake, financially, health, inc mental health, to me this UK position is chaotic and very much knee jerk. The UK govt also claims to have capacity to test 500,000 people per day but actually test less than 300,000. Surely, testing stations at airports to and fro, would be a decent use of some of this additional capacity and along with track n trace, create a much more sustainable containment of the spread?
Easier said than done, I know. Just sayin . . . . .
