In reality, tour operators should perhaps be looking towards beginning of September for attempting to begin getting holidays back up and running. Let’s all be honest here and admit that so far none of the main holiday destinations have come out of lock down. Once countries do start reducing restrictions it is going to be months before airlines, resorts and hotels are able to fully open and get back to anything resembling normality.
No doubt once countries begin lifting their restrictions, there will most likely be a period of inbound restrictions on visitors to try to prevent the virus coming back in from other countries. So a restart date further off makes more sense. The worst thing for tour operators is to keep promoting start dates only a few weeks away and then delaying time after time.
