Based on photo's at the scene, multiple shrapnel puncture holes on the aircraft suggests an explosion OUTSIDE the aircraft.

This could be either the engine's exploding causing the fan blades to shatter and become projectiles or, 'alien to the aircraft', shrapnel (i.e. think of MH17) causing the damage.

I posted about shrapnel damage 2 days BEFORE anyone else mentioned a 'missile strike'.

This was based on my examination of photo's previously unpublished, showing multiple shrapnel holes on the plane.

"Technical problems" ... what technical problems?
We all know the 737 Max is grounded because of "technical problems" and this is a 737-800. Let's hope the cause is not something that will start to make people nervous of getting on any plane with 737 in its name.
