Company A buys Company B for no better reason than to stop Company C buying it (or for its' attractive tax loss) - we have all seen this risky strategy many times.
Buying and integrating a business takes huge amounts of management time and resources. A far better long-term strategy has always been to look at what you do with your business and continually try to expand and improve it and if you are going to buy - then buy with extreme caution.

I only hope that Mr Heapy does NOT enter the race to buy T/C, this whole debarcle started when Airtours /My Travel was bought by T/C. Why do companys try to get bigger than they can handle. Please Mr Heapy dont be drawn into this mess because mark my words it WILL end in tears!!
