Their opposition is entirely as expected, but ignores the reality that when an airline fails, and 19 European airlines have stopped flying since the beginning of 2017, customers are stranded and some at the end of their planned travel have little money to pay for a new flight.
The airlines will point out how many of them offered 'rescue fares' when WOW failed a couple of months ago and use this to show how effective their system is. This of course ignores the fact that they knew what was in the proposal and needed, for the first time on such a scale, to show it wasn't necessary, and equally importantly, none of them offered free travel, everyone still had to pay!
