There are far reaching consequences when
Something like this happens to the Industry
After the 787 issues Boeing needed to get
The max8 /9 right for the market
Airlines will be cautious about being launch
Customers going forward and this will effect
the leasing and financial capability in the sector.
Airlines could simply fold if this situation is
Ongoing for the summer season the consequal costs of subservicing in capacity
(If that capacity exists) will be finsncial suicide it will be better for flights to be cancelled
safety comes before compensation and
Financial suicide the Airlines who op this
Aircraft should be excempt from Eu 261
Claims and Brussels should be supporting
The industry by making this move at least
In short Term whilst a reliable timeline to get
Aircraft in service again (safely) is fully established

261 comp would usually NOT be possible.

If it was a case of the airline not servicing the aircraft correctly, then yes, but if Boeing call for the grounding, this is called 'UNFORSEEN' and all that is legally due to the customer is the price they paid the airline / tour operator, not a penny more.

I hope that all thease Airlines that have been forced to ground the Aircraft make Boeing pay for the disruption to them .And that Customers DONT jump on the compensation band wagon and if they do then its Boeing that they should go after NOT the Airlines

What is it with your spelling Steve! Also, as we have seen - the only company flying this aircraft in the UK is TUI - who have already confirmed that all passengers have been moved to different aircraft with no real disruption to flying overall. Also, this is all unforeseen in which case compensation would not be due or owed.

Julie drewls • 6 years ago

flying passengers would not normally be due any compensation as this is called 'UNFORSEEN'.

Yes, it's possible that Boeing may be legally liable, that would be for either Boeing to admit and pay, or for a competent Judge to decide if any legal action was taken by the airline(s) involved.

Depends what the European courts decide, and frankly I wouldn't put it past them....
