I think Gayle Louis Stephen is the Queen of the hard Brexiteers, one is entitled to one’s opinion no matter how extreme. However her idea of stopping all flights between the UK and the EU thus in the process make the UK a bigger and better competitor in the global aviation market is way of the mark, in fact it would have the opposite effect. If we could not use European air space the UK could be used less as a hub, for example, coming from the USA instead of going to Heathrow to change planes, passengers would change at Amsterdam, Paris, and so on, and by doing that
they would be not using British carriers.
ICAO rules means we are entitled to the 1st 2 freedoms no matter what but each country/bloc are in charge of the rest of the freedom rights & how they are agreed. The ICAO have always stated planes CANNOT land in territories unless specific treaties between the governments involved are in place.
I want to see all uk-eu flights END COMPLETELY from March next year onwards otherwise will be left permanently trapped under the vassalage of the EU with no hope of ever escaping their stifling rules & regulations. In other words, it means we will never be able to fully free ourselves from the EU's handcuffs. Also their airline ownership rules will drive UK shareholders, who have stocks & shares on UK airlines, into bankruptcy & impede our chances of becoming a bigger & better competitor in the global aviation market.
The only way to get us out of the EU completely which is EXACTLY what we voted for is to pursue a no-deal brexit.
EU will be happy to oblige since UK is a big threat to their airlines.
I hope you are correct in this, I REALLY hope so. Stopping all uk-eu flights will not only help revive our own tourist industry, it will allow us to open up much more of our aviation market to as much of the world as we want, give us access to more wonderful destinations outside the EU, & make us a bigger & better competitor in the global aviation market. We will be COMPLETELY free from the EU vassalage especially from the jurisdiction of the ECJ & most of all we will be free to be able to make new aviation agreements with countries of OUR OWN choosing rather than be forced to accept such deals with countries either on the orders of the EU and/or having to ask the EU for permission all the time.
Sorry. EU is the worlds biggest markets. So far NO country has opened its market for UK airlines
Not now, I'm talking about what could happen once a no-deal brexit is formally declared. We will simply be given the opportunity to open up our aviation market to more countries around the rest of the world without worrying about the EU meddling in our affairs.
Why is Dyson leaving UK?
He's moving to Singapore which is a tax haven in many ways.
Why is UK begging for a deal?
Because they're desperate to keep us tied to the EU which goes against what we voted for. We voted for a full, clean & pure break from the EU which will give us back our full constitutional rights to do the following:
1. To decide for ourselves what policies will be put in place.
2. The right to trade with countries of OUR OWN choosing.
3. The rights to allow certain non-uk registered transportation of OUR OWN choosing to enter our country.
3. The right to decide bilateral non-WTO related deals with countries of OUR OWN choosing as transport & finance.
ONLY a no-deal brexit will give us those rights in full & we must opt for it. Our government MUST change its policy entirely & go for a no-deal brexit. Its the only way to ensure that we are completely free from the EU, it's vassalage & it's stifling rules.
Why is UK not leaving?
We are leaving but there could possibly be an extension which I hope won't happen. I also hope the deal is voted down again on Valentine's day.
PM May has stated over and over again that the UK is going to leave the EU, with or without a deal.
Based on her massive loss in the vote and the EU stating they will NOT re-negotiate, it's looking more likely that a NO DEAL brexit will occur.
This means that UK airlines will have ZERO rights to land into the EU without new agreements, which CANNOT legally be made until after midnight on the 29th of March (Brexit Day).
This leave the question of how long will EACH Eu country take to draw up the legal framework to allow UK Airlines to fly into their respective countries.
Spain will, I am sure get this done quickly, but quickly could mean a minimum of 2 weeks.
That's a minimum of 2 weeks without UK to Spain flights.
Multiply that by the other EU members.
Now take into the fact that each and every car / lorry / bus / coach / etc traveling across the channel will also be subject to 3rd country checks.
This means your European fruits / meats / etc could be delayed by 3-8 days.
This also means that your GAS / ELECTRICITY prices will increase.
You will pay for 'roaming in europe'
Your UK Driving license will NOT be valid in Europe.
etc.
How incredibly sad - ignorance is most certainly bliss. Our brilliant PM is acting on the will of the people. Remember Oliver Cromwell '' appointed by the people to serve the people ''. 30th March NOTHING will happen - the tourism infrastructure in Europe depends on the £. Thank god we did not enter the Euro. STAY CALM - CARRY ON.
Take Spain.
Yes, Brit's are the Number 1 incoming tourists but the largest spender on Spanish holidays is actually domestic Spanish tourists who spend 58% more than the Brits.
look at the massive LOSS to the GBP since the referendum.
Was 1GBP = 1.40 EUR
Now it's sinking daily.
Come 30th March with NO DEAL, I see 1GBP = 1 EUR or worse
It's already been dealt with in December, by a new EU Regulation.
EU confirms that if a HARD BREXIT occurs, only limited UK planes will be allowed to land in the EU and they will ONLY allow pilots to operate under an EU license NOT a UK Pilot's License.
Parliament have voted against stopping a no-deal brexit which is a MASSIVE victory for our democracy as the biggest BETRAYAL of the British nation has AT LAST been averted. The EU are now expected to declare a no-deal brexit very soon as they have stated they would MUCH RATHER rip up the brexit deal & pursue no-deal than ever renegotiate the terms of the current backstop in the withdrawal agreement. This now means a wonderful brand new era in our aviation industry will soon be upon us & its something we should be looking forward to & embracing instead of being devastated about the loss/limitation of access to the EU. In a no-deal brexit scenario:
1. We will regain our right to arrange new bilateral aviation deals with more countries around the world with absolutely NO interference from the EU.
2. We will be free to choose which countries WE want to strike new aviation deals with instead of being told by the EU to accept aviation deals that are not necessarily in our best interests, and/or having to constantly seek the EU's approval before we can plan anything.
3. We will also hopefully be able to reinstate direct flights to countries we are currently unable to access thanks to our EU membership & also massively open up our access to more lucrative aviation markets around the rest of the world.
4. We will also see a boost to our own tourist industry by more people staying home for their holidays & saving at least £39 billion meaning more money to spend on improving our resort areas & improving the livelihoods of our resort communities.
5. Our international aviation industry will also make much more money as most of it comes from long-haul flights, particularly the trans-atlantic routes.
6. We will regain control of the amount of landing slots we make available for non-UK airlines at our airports. The amount of EU airlines landing at our airports MUST be reduced to make way for non-EU airlines. Thats why I hope the EU rejects MEP calls to lift the 2018 flight cap as its in our best interests to do the same with EU airlines.
7. Our airlines will no longer be expected to abide by the EU's ridiculous & unfair airline ownership rules that would've taken away the voting rights of UK shareholders & put our airlines at risk of breaching standard international aviation laws requiring all airlines to be owned by their home countries. This would've jeopardised our global market opportunities as the majority of the rest of the world are not prepared to bend the rules in favour of striking favourable aviation deals with us. Some countries have even threatened to scrap their proposed new deals with us unless we opt for a no-deal brexit.
8. We will be COMPLETELY free from the jurisdiction of the ECJ as a no-deal brexit is the ONLY way to ensure this. This is because the EU have said they will not agree to a broader air safety & transport agreement unless we step over one of our most CRUCIAL red lines & remain under ECJ jurisdiction, something which simply CANNOT be allowed to happen under ANY circumstances.
9. We will be able to take back complete control of our aviation industry by renationalising our airports & returning them to state-ownership which was how it was before the EU's open-skies policy came into force. This way it will mean non-UK registered airlines wishing to land at our airports will have to seek approval from our government first before they can operate any flight routes to & from the UK. This will make our airports much safer & reduce the risk of non-UK nationals from countries that are rife with the likes of terrorism & human trafficking, passing through our borders. The USA have taken action with certain Muslim countries & other countries with which it has political difficulties with. We MUST regain the right to take similar measures, which the EU are NOT allowing us to do & an aviation deal with the EU as it stands, will continue to prevent us from doing this.
10. Freedom of Movement will be ended immediately which is exactly one of the reasons why I voted leave & that it's essential that an ultra-clean & ultra pure brexit must be pursued. We can no longer afford to have our lives being put at risk, especially at a risk of terrorist attacks. Our country is a primary target for these monsters who are determined to destroy our way of life. If freedom of movement continues for much longer, then there will be more & more terrorist attacks happening right on our own doorstep. The ONLY way to reduce that risk is to regain FULL control of our borders IMMEDIATELY from 29 March onwards.
A no-deal brexit will make our country's entire future, including those of our aviation & tourist industries MUCH better & MUCH brighter. Therefore it's ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE & ESSENTIAL that our government opts for a no-deal brexit at absolutely ALL costs.
