I am a tremendous admirer of Etihad flying with them many times and having lIved in Abu Dhabi. A load factor of nearly 80% for a 100% long haul carried is most envious. Take away the tax's from the advertised cost, the actual seat rate in real terms is pitiful and on many occasions a little over £120, terrible. The Gulf hubs of Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat and Doha ex UK have in excess of 11 million seat a year and the carriers keep on loading capacity year after year. Recently, we have Cardiff to Doha (expletive deletive here) The only brilliant service they all offer is to the travelling public and not to themselves. The corporate traffic in where the profits are to be had with leisure traffic just cash flow. Conclusion and frankly I do not care, how can these four main hub carriers survive without ' big daddy ' support again so what. Its akin to a law saying you cannot give your children pocket money.
