The UK needs a second hub airport to distribute economic development more evenly. It does not need more money pouring into the overheated South East to support London's status as a global financial centre - a status which it will lose if we have a hard Brexit. It is time to call a halt to the Heathrow expansion and look at how regional airports - for example Birmingham and Manchester acting in partnership - could achieve a better overall result for the British economy..
