My experience with presently deployed Tourism Monitors has not been very positive. They have absolutely no interaction with the many guests visiting the attractions such as 3 Rondawels etc on the Panorama Route.
It seems as though the monitors just sit around at present and do not do anything to enhance the tourist experience. I do understand that these monitors are not Law Enforcement Officers (they are no-existent) but feel that if communication skills are enhanced and they go out of their way to chat to the visitors, they will gain far more than what is happening at present. I have tried to engage with these monitors without any success, they seem just morose and without any interest in doing anything positive? I would love to hear about positive interactions from fellow tour guides if available.
