The silence from our Tourism Minister and his colleagues is deafening. I have to admit, after reading the new regulations, I am totally confused.

It is still chaos at check in desks of international flights as airline companies are still asking for all the paperwork (UBC in english or translated to english, Signed and stamped letters, ID`s of parents, etc). Nothing is actually set strait nowhere with regards to what we need and what we do not need to exit and enter.

In 3.5 yrs SATSA and the CEO haven't achieved very much, so why pay the R6,445 - R45,186 per year fee?

What an unbelievably ignorant comment. The SATSA team have busted their backsides trying to secure high level meetings, engage with ministers, put forward the industry's concerns and position, and lobbied government tirelessly. They have been hampered by an arrogant and willfully deaf immigration minister, who has thankfully been forced to resign now, but have held endless meetings with stakeholders and ministers to try and fix these obstacles that hamper tourism.
They have launched successful public private partnerships, have hosted road shows and mega fam trips to boost tourism, have engaged with industry and kept us informed, have lobbied the NPTR and assisted members with operating licenses, have dealt with safety and security challenges, have helped members who had serious incidents, have helped shape and fix the damaging messages about the drought in Cape Town. SATSA continues to be a voice for the industry, a mark of quality and credibility to all who wear the SATSA badge. SATSA does not get to hire or fire ministers, or tell the government what to do. But I tell you what, if SATSA could double its membership it could be an even stronger voice to lobby government and see more result. But here we have Angaas complaining and whining about membership fees. Wake up please. Or get out of the way, you're part of the problem, not the solution.
