I gave it a a try (without modifying anything) using the PhoneGap Developer App on an android smartphone and it works smoothly. What do you have in mind when you say "the browser engine is most likely different, at least on Android"?

Hello, thank you for this great work. I have downloaded your tutorial from GitHub. I was wondering if there was a way to use a different data source than the Flickr service such as either a db or reading the files from a local directory? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Well sure you can have images from any data source by modifying the code. Just modify function fetch_images(), where you provide a title and url for each image. Local images work too.
