The team with the most HR's has not won the World Series for as far back as I had time to look this AM.
The 2012 Giants were #30 in HR's.
The team with the best WHIP won in 2016 ... they shall remain nameless but my point is true.
Stop the drooling over HR's because they are not the key to winning.

Moooooooooose • 5 years ago

Somewhere, PJ just broke his hand punching a wall!

PerSpeier35 • 5 years ago

Homers aren't necessarily the key to winning, you still have to pitch it and catch it but they do help you score runs. Heck, Adam Duvall is only batting .205 yet he has more homers and RBI's than any Giant. Homers are fun too and the Giants could use a few more.

Evan Longoria (10) is only four HRs behind Brandon Belt (14) for the Giants team lead in long balls. Belt hasn't had any kind of consistent power stroke since May (pre-appendectomy). It's conceivable that Longo catches long ball fever, benefits from not hitting left handed at AT&T, and catches Belt for the lead in this most prestigious category.

I'd also wager my left gonad that Krush Davis finishes with twice as many long balls as the Giants leader when another season of MLB HR Derby concludes.

Mr. Sarcastic • 5 years ago

Way to go out on a limb with the prediction, Carnac!

totalfan62 • 5 years ago

Ooh, watch it. That “left onion” could become really important to you one day! 😉

12xu • 5 years ago

Longoria 0-4 plus a BB tonight. In Schulman's game report he said that with the injury to Belt today, Sabochvans will have a meeting, could re-activate Longoria for tomorrow night's game.

Skweezplay55 • 5 years ago

Doesn’t sound like Longoria is ready. We’ve already seen pitchers come back too early and be awful. Let Longoria get some rhythm and bring him back when he’s ready and not before. Pardon my ignorance but I thought maybe this would be a good time to bring up Chris Shaw? Guess not.

HaakAway • 5 years ago

Shaw came up as a 1B in the Giants system but has been banned from that position for a few years. It is painful to watch them commit to Panda; maybe Ryder earned a three day shot with that HR in their one win at Oakland?

Noce • 5 years ago

Ryder Jones play 1st in Sac last night. In July he has only gone 0 for in 4 games.

My NY sis sent a simple card to Joe Lacob, thanking him for this amazing run after her lifelong, and very long suffering dedication. She didnt expect to hear back.

Today, she received a hand written note from Mr. Lacob thanking her for her dedication, especially all the way from New York....and a box of swag. Hats, pins, shirts...

Say what you will about heartless billionaire owners in it for just money. The dude wrote her and sent goodies. That’s incredibly cool.

For anyone who is basketball ignorant, this is the owner of the GS Warriors. I had to google it, myself.

Khris Davis is a HR machine right now. 2 Run Hr to give A's the lead in 9th, 3 run HR earlier (off Gearrin) to get them within one.

I say good for him and the A's
As for jealous...more like....
Nobody cares

Yer Ol Pal Ryan • 5 years ago

Since 6/1/18 ?!?

giantc • 5 years ago

Just saw that he leads the majors with the most HRs since June of 2016 — 112. More than Stanton.

Jeff • 5 years ago

Swinging A's are impressive

MikeC • 5 years ago

Unbelievable, another comeback win, 6-5 for the A's. Davis hit a 97 mph Four-seam FB to right field off of Jose Leclerc who came into game with a 2.02 ERA over 35 games. 1st HR given up this year.

I do not feel as bad now as I felt when the A's were hitting HRs off of Giants pitchers in the close games they lost.

I heard or read that the A's are on track to hit the most road HRs in MLB history.

PerSpeier35 • 5 years ago

Will you guys please stop talking about the A's?

winebaroness27 • 5 years ago

Seriously...
Nobody cares

MikeC • 5 years ago

You were the first to bring up the topic of the A's tonight at 7:54 p.m. when you wrote:

"...BTW, A's Khris Davis with a three run bomb off Gearrin A's down 5-4 in the 7th, they have Texas right where they want them. Must be nice to have some power."

I am as frustrated as you are that the Giants do have a HR hitter like the A's Davis. The only Giant possibility is Williamson if he ever gets his stroke back like he had before his concussion injury.

You know you were watching and you know you love it :-)

You, Brownie, and that turd Footy.

Soler Burst • 5 years ago

I think you and Junipero Athletes Footy get royalties.

Yer Ol Pal Ryan • 5 years ago

He can't throw worth shit, but he can sure hit the shit out of the ball pretty much better than any other slugger in the game.

Jeff • 5 years ago

Check out the 2nd HR to right, it was a blast. He could easily hit the water at ATT regularly with that swing.

12xu • 5 years ago

Here are his 2 HRs tonight:
https://www.mlb.com/video/d...
You're right, the 2nd one would have landed in the bay at AT&T. He has hit 6 HRs in the last 4 games (2-1-1-2). On KNBR tonight they said over those 4 games, his 14 RBIs are more than Posey, and I think Belt, have since June 1st.

Yer Ol Pal Ryan • 5 years ago

Yup. I was watching. Was a little sleepy, then that woke me up, and I was able to get some work done prepping for tomorrow. Their relievers are pretty awesome too, The Killer T's.

Those FOX or ESPN games are still available via the AtBat/MLB-TV app. The FB game only if you are a FB user. And then you have to tolerate the uninformed announcers and the wacky between innings stuff. Sure hope we don’t have any more of these on our schedule!

Interesting BBC test on what country your personality fits. I'm still trying to sort out the ramifications of being Chilean.

Why is so much time wasted on music videos here? I like music, I like some videos, but unless they're making a statement relevant to the discussion, I don't see the need.

610nm • 5 years ago

It is a nice way to fill in time whenever the Giants aren't playing? And, CC has a fairly broad range of interest in music, with some overlap to my tastes, so he has helped me learn some new artists.

buyselltrade • 5 years ago

I like the music videos and sometimes include me among the guilty that post music videos.

For many baseball and music are nostalgic so that is a common link.

For me the San Francisco Giants and SF Bay Area music, venues and performers, were experienced first hand though I have not gone to a Giants game nor live music for years.

Must admit I will never understand the attraction of Rush, don't get the arena bands of the 80s and 90s and have a near mind blank on rap and most current popular music (except blues/blues rock).

Can certainly see the need for that one. John Rutsey's only album appearance.
