Both the culprit and the parents of the baby deserve to be jailed. Poor helpless babies have been lost to strangers who lure babies parents some of whom don't give due diligence to cushion these babies from dangers of kidnappers

Funeral attendance is not a convincing reason to leave your baby with a stranger. Cancel the funeral attendance and look after your baby. Then let the dead bury the dead

You go for interview for a job which involves taking care of a few thousand shillings for your new employer. You'll be asked for a degree, old payslips, letters of recommendation, ID, police clearance, residential address and a referee. Yet, we employ a nanny for our kids, at least 8 hrs every day, and we don't bother even with an ID or referral. Really, we deserve to have our eyes AND brains scanned.

The parents should also be charged with child neglect, for leaving a vulnerable child in the care of a stranger they hardly knew.

Agreed 100%. In addition, the only plausible reason for getting a maid is for work purposes, not getting a maid so as to attend funerals. You can carry your child with you to a funeral or leave the funeral attendance altogether. Unless you are going to resurrect the dead.
