I never understood the "do it on a machine and let the machine print a copy" BS. Seriously, if the end result is a paper copy, then START with the paper copy and skip the freakin' machine! Voter ID, purple thumb, physical signature, day-of voting except for specific reasons (absentee/military/etc). Yet I'm willing to bet, that if a single machine ever changed just one Dem vote to Republican, they would lose their minds and scream now stop about how republicans were cheating and all machines need to be banned. You don't read so well apparently, the issue in TN was the machines switching the votes to republicans when democrats had been voted for. I'm a republican but overall I'm for truth, both in voting and in reporting.

Apparently you didn't read the story. Nowhere does it state the votes benefitted the republicans in TN. In fact it states the election officials tried to blame the voters themselves, basically saying they were too stupid to push the button for their chosen candidate.

Election officials did not "basically say that the people were too stupid to push the button for their chosen candidate" the election officials said it was touch screens and the people were using their fingers instead of the provided stylus. And republicans in TN and other places are using machines because in many places it is not up to the individual voter how they are required to cast their vote, they don't have the option of using a hand marked paper ballot if they want their vote to count.

Wrong again. The article clearly states that the election officials blamed it on user error. They can claim it was the finger or stylus or whatever they want. That does not negate the fact that the VOTERS said their selections on the screen did NOT match the printed results.

And neither do you. I reread the article and did an Internet search. Not one comment about a Democrat vote being changed to Republican.

I love that to early vote we use a machine to select the candidates, it prints a paper ballot, then it is scanned it in a machine again to count it.

It is almost like someone at 2:00 am could run a nightly report to see who people are voting for before election day.

I don’t know about other states, but in Texas, every time we run a tally on a machine it’s electronically documented. So there is a possibility for fraud, but it would likely be amongst the counters and those who monitor the machines, as poll workers have little access to this information. But the only way that kind of manipulation is caught is if someone goes back to see when reports were generated from a controller (the box you feed your ballot into). But as I mentioned above, everyone needs to check their printed ballot and make sure it’s accurate or if it is wrong, request a new one and have that ballot spoiled. Spoiled ballots cannot be counted as votes.

The ONLY way to be sure the machine count is accurate is to hand count every single ballot. And that just ensures the count is correct, it doesn't ensure that the ballot marking machine actually marked the ballot the way the voter intended. The best option is to use only hand marked and hand counted ballots, ballots which were voted by verified citizens.

When you receive your paper ballot after voting, make sure everything is accurate before you feed it into the final counting machine. If it is incorrect, tell the presiding judge or whomever is in charge to spoil the ballot and give you a new one. I work as a presiding judge on election day, and a ballot can be “spoiled” if it did not accurately represent the voters intention and the voter receives a new one. The only way we know it is if the voter tells us. And in Texas, we have to log the spoiled ballots and why they were spoiled. So if this is actually happening, it will help document the fraud.

I always check and if there was an issue I would say something but thank you for letting us know what specific verbiage to use to ensure we don't get taken advantage of. Question, when we feed the ballot into the counting machine, the printed side up or down?

It should have arrows pointing at the top, but it should be fed face up.

It's more insidious than that. When the machine prints a "copy" it also prints a bar code that may or may not have anything to do with the visible filled-in ovals. The scanner can then ignore the ovals and read the bar code, and no one knows the vote was flipped. This is a patent by Kevin Runbeck of the corrupt Runbeck Election Services that prints the ballots for Arizona and Georgia.

Just add that to the list of how to cheat on selection day.

The weird thing to me is there's no reason to "flip it on screen" when the programmer can simply flip it in the database after printing something the voter thinks is correct. It's almost like they are trying to let people know it's rigged. You can't trust computers to count because the votes or tallies can be manipulated so easily.

In Florida, the paper ballot you marked with your ball point pen is what goes into the machine. Not a printed copy, only the original that the voter used.

It is the human's fault that the machine is not capable of doing its' primary function of recording an accurate vote. BS, it either a poorly designed machine or a machine working exactly as it is programmed to work and switching the votes as designed.
