I oppose abortion because it kills babies and hurts women.

George DeBear • 6 years ago

Here ya' go: Do you think that when you die and are at the Pearly Gates awaiting your "assigned quarters" that St. Peter and his assistant angels might say something to the effect of: "Well, you seemed to have lived a decent life but we were expecting a bit more of 'abortion participation ... what, you couldn't at least stand on the corner and talk-it-up a bit?"

Diane • 6 years ago

For the mother, murdering the baby from rape just compounds the grief. Now the woman needs to deal with the horror of the rape and the murder of her baby.

mzwaddles • 6 years ago

if a pregnancy is just a clump of cells, then why does the abortion provider have to put the pieces of the baby back together in order to make sure they have a whole baby!

Deepak Savio Fernandes • 6 years ago

Poland banned abortions for all except cases of rape, danger to Mother's life and health.
The number of abortions went down to 800 a year, 3% of what it was before (when all kinds of abortions were legal).

With this you can say that rape related abortions are about 1 to 2%. Probably closer to 1% or lower.

Lyn • 6 years ago

Also the babies of rape are surely a very small percentage?? I am sure Mother would still fall in love with a baby from rape if given the chance as it is in no way the baby's fault And half her genetic make up!

Lyn • 6 years ago

Men should oppose abortion even more strongly than women as God has made them the custodians, protectors and leaders and Fathers of society. Why should women and the unborn babies have to fight alone. Men and women need to care for each other more and respect the roles that each other has in society. Women should be loved and respected as the nurturers and heart of the family. When women feel their sense of worth in this role, society will be better as a whole and our Father in heaven will smile again instead of the wrath that He feels when these babies are cut up in the womb. Babies are a gift of God. If a child comes from rape to me it is the one good thing that comes from it. To me you are richer the more children you have. Money doesn't buy happiness. My two beautiful sons came over and fixed our roof on the weekend and tidied the garden. I went shopping with my daughter while bouncing my beautiful granddaughter on my knee. Went over to see my youngest daughter in her new flat and she made us dinner. Sure it's hard to raise children but if you love them unconditionally and guide them in God's ways as it says in the bible train a child up in the way you want them to go and when they are old they will not depart from it. Babies are a pure gift from God. I wish I had a couple more to love!

It's good to have women in support of pro-life, but men can too. The more supporters, the better.

klyneal • 6 years ago

Abortion definitely victimizes women, mainly by letting so called "men" completely off the hook. If the woman decides to keep her baby, all the pre-natal care and hospital bills are on HER. And you can easily be talking about 20 to 30 thousand dollars. She cannot get support until AFTER the baby is born and she actually goes to court for it. It is NOT retroactive.

And it's mostly men who are the abortionists that brutally murder her baby just to further profit by cutting up her child and selling the baby parts and organs.

Every law lets men off the hook for their responsibility in the matter. Financially, especially. And no laws hold the abortionist responsible for any damage done to the woman, even if only psychological.

If a man gets a woman pregnant, he should be just as responsible for pre-natal care and hospital bills as the woman. If she has to take off work to have the baby, he should be responsible for half her bills. Child support should start as soon as the woman gets pregnant.

Then and ONLY then can men claim to have some say in the abortion decision.

And I bet you ANY amount of money, that once men are held equally responsible for any life they create, that a whole lot less unplanned pregnancies will occur. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT.

This way we can make the barbaric murder of innocent human beings illegal again, and both MEN and woman equally responsible for any babies that are conceived "by mistake." 60 million murdered babies are a SHAMEFUL TRAVESTY.

There are still tons of pregnancy centers that help with pre-natal care and hospital bills, provide adoption services, free counseling, parenting classes, help with child care until the child is 3 to 5 years of age, etc.

This, so me, is the ONLY way to end victimization of women that occurs with today's abortion and child support laws. Laws that let men and abortionists completely off the hook for their part in the ordeal.

It takes TWO to create a baby, so TWO can take responsibility for the protection, care and love of any child created, even if that means giving the child up for adoption.

A man is involved in each and every conception, sometimes in a good way but, in the case of women contemplating abortion, most likely in a bad, abusive way. If we are every going to find a way to offer women a better solution than abortion we need the influence of good men and their actions.

Phyllis • 6 years ago

The statement is ludicrous. Men must oppose abortion for the protection of their wives, their girlfriends, their daughters and their unborn children. They are often the influence that saves their unborn child from its death sentence.

LF • 6 years ago

A person not being able to oppose abortion because he is a man is like saying a resident of a northern state in the 1860's could not oppose slavery because they didn't have the option of slave ownership. We ALL have the obligation to stand up for the women and children who are direct victims of the predatory abortion industry. And yes, women need men's support (perish the thought!!) as much as men need women's. Let's be the partners in life and society we are meant to be, instead of using our differences as excuses to shut each other out. Our negative experiences can make us scoff at this last line, but our adjudication of them as negative presupposes and points to the ideal, which we should never obscure and always strive for. A society that partitions its members' jurisdiction in the determination of such fundamental issues is no society at all.

How can we help people to see that it's the ACT OF MEN that is WRONG TO CONCEIVE WRONGFULLY & that WE OUGHT TO PROTECT THE INNOCENT BABY WITH ALL COSTS from the further harm ?

Moreover, it is even more WRONGFUL to DECIDE & JUDGE(or support it) which of them are UNWANTED & KILL THEM.

Even the physical/bodies of men that caused to conceived these babies were made victims of their 'master's' wrong choice/actions.

Babies are their 2nd chance to make things right, but if not, by entrusting their responsibility to whom can protect them.

Rid off life is killing, there is no easy way out with this consequence.

Chris Lilly • 6 years ago

Men can oppose abortion because they are part of the procreation process!

Robert LaBiento • 6 years ago

Thou shall not murder! Whether in the womb or as a capital punishment! Unless in self defense, abortion and capital punishment ,is just that! Babies are less then pigs? That person(?) should NEVER become pregnant!

Quacker • 6 years ago

That's like saying I can't oppose slavery since I don't own any slaves.

disqus_uss2m1K3kS • 6 years ago

Anybody considering abortion due to rape should maybe watch a few episodes of
"Long Lost Family" where those conceived through rape have been adopted -- but are clearly sorely missed by the birth mother & often very much sought after, for years after the baby was taken from them.

It is patently obvious it is beneficial to both parties to be reunited whenever they can, & despite the initial circumstances of their conception. They both need closure from that experience too, but interestingly always love & respect the one they have missed.

Nobody needs to be aborted. People should realise it is murder -- therefore obviously wrong & nobody should be standing on a street corner shouting pro-abortion comments! I sincerely doubt the sanity of such a person.

scragsma • 6 years ago

The issue isn't male/female. The issue is human.

joesulla • 6 years ago

Without male sperm there is no pregnancy. The baby inherits half its genes from the father and therefore has at minimum a 50% interest in the outcome of the pregnancy.

Joe Right • 6 years ago

"That's not what my momma told me!" That's what my answer would be. Real men defend the unborn.

Jack • 6 years ago

The (any) argument is the argument. Any person can agree (or disagree) with either side of any argument without affecting it. To say that someone can't take a side because they are part of a particular group is...ridiculous.

LawProf61 • 6 years ago

- Boys are aborted, too.
- No child is conceived without a man.
- Men should care about their children, and the mothers of their children.
- If the child is born, a man has a duty to support that child; he should also have rights without respect to his child.
- As a society, we should encourage men to take responsibility. Abortion destroys a child, destroys a man's responsibility for his actions, destroys opportunities for fatherhood.
- Saying "Men can't oppose abortion because they're not women" is like saying I can't oppose existing immigration laws because I'm not an immigrant, or I can't oppose slavery because I was never a slave.

Pat • 6 years ago

Great comment, LawProf61, I agree with you 100%. Thank you.

Barbara D'Amore • 6 years ago

So I guess then only irresponsible men should have a say. They are too immature and uncaring towards the mother and the baby. Face it, most abortions are not from rape. That's just a cover phrase for foolish behavior that gets women into trouble.

George DeBear • 6 years ago

I guess women shouldn't pray for or protest against a male political prisoner being abducted in N.Korea or Iran. I have to say, of all the moronic pro-abortion stands, the "let's murder all the kids that hypocritical pro-lifers won't adopt" one takes the cake!

Men must oppose murder everywhere in leadership.

Jennifer DeFillippo • 6 years ago

I agree with Joanne. There was never a single baby aborted who didn't have a father.
If lib women refuse to acknowledge this then they need to go back to school.
And, I'm sorry?? "Less than pigs?!" wow.
My late husband and I had eight children, all wanted, all loved (with two more in Heaven)...it's not impossible, my friends. ~ and I cannot imagine my life without a single one of them! ❤ (and oh yeah. note to libs: he was there for every one of them. just sayin'.)

Just love what you said Jennifer and can't agree more! God bless you x

God, the Father, is Creator of all human life, each and every person. We are made in the image of God--male and female-- provided a most wonderful gift of creation. So, it is more than a right to oppose abortion, it is everyone's duty, man and woman to uphold life from conception to natural death.

Christina Fitzpatrick • 6 years ago

Babies are not the property of men or women or of a man and a woman in partnership but human beings with rights of their own, including the right to life.

Max • 6 years ago

Abortion is a human issue, not a gender issue. Would you claim that Americans can't oppose genocide in Africa? I think not.

PatriciaFraide • 6 years ago

It's been proven, men suffer great anguish when learning a women has gotten an abortion without telling them. They many times suffer the same guilt that the woman will eventually suffer themselves. It's simply one more lie PP puts out there. They understand a part of themselves has been destroyed.

MARY THOMAS • 6 years ago

The aborted baby is torn apart and actually experiences physical agony. This has now been proved beyond doubt and many doctors now refuse to perform abortions as a result of the scientific findings. Women are being lied to, the baby is not anaesthetised even if the mother is, it feels everything.

Deborah Rivers • 6 years ago

Jesus said, " love one another as I have loved you" He wasn't talking to just women.

Women can't oppose men that they mutually co-created a human being with. It's as much their child as the woman's.

Mary G. Nolan • 6 years ago

Men can oppose abortion because they are killed by abortion!

God will not and can't bless America until AMERICA REPENT AND CONVERT OF HER SINS. How we, the Catholics to give America grace to repent and convert? Only when Catholics pray and make reparation and ask their Bishops and Cardinals to RE-CONSECRATE USA TO THE IMMACULATE HEART.

"What is the best comeback to: "Men can't oppose abortion because they're not women."

that's like saying a man can't care for his children because he's not a woman. what a dumb way of thinking.

Theresa Lussi • 6 years ago

It does take two to make a baby---a woman AND a man, Daddys need to have a say in the fate of their children.

NeoCrusader09434 • 6 years ago

How sexist and discriminatory against men.

Patricia Ford • 6 years ago

Hopefully all Christian men will speak out against abortion.

Mae • 6 years ago

Men can't oppose abortion because it would take away their freedom to have sex and not be accountable for it. They don't care about the woman, only themselves. That's why they support abortion.

Mariamante • 6 years ago

Men were babies once too!! Babies being aborted are male as well as female!!

CHARLES S • 6 years ago

I wonder if that daughter of that man that said "Rape babies are less than pigs"; would she be willing to kill a baby conceived of rape?? Would she hold a pair of scissors or knife and sever the spinal core or stab it in the stomach, since that baby is nothing more then a worthless 'pig'......

"It always takes two too tango" Abortion does involve men

Peter Crumley • 6 years ago

Coming to the aid of the unborn means respect for human rights,
not simply the rights of women... or men.

Joanne Strantz • 6 years ago

Every abortion involves a man, preventing their fatherhood and about half those aborted are men (except when sex selection typically kills future women).
