The farmers in Mendefera sub-zone that are engaged in cultivating select potato with the support of agricultural experts reported that they are collecting abundant harvest.
Indicating that two types of selected potato seeds have been distributed to exemplary farmers, Ms. Senait Abedom, vegetables and fruits development expert said that the farmers have been able to produce from 200 to 300 quintals of potatoes per hectare.
Pointing out that the select potato seeds have strong resistance to various diseases and pests, Ms. Senait said that the beneficiary farmers are expected to play due part in stabilizing the market.
The beneficiary farmers on their part expressed appreciation for the fertilizers and pesticides they were provided by the Ministry of Agriculture.
In Mendefera sub-zone, there are about 900 farmers engaged with vegetables and fruits cultivation.

(FYI) - - Somalia formally cut ties with Kenya after accusing the latter of political interference and violations against its sovereignty.
This follows after Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta today invited Muse Bihi Abdi, the leader of Somaliland, a breakaway region in northern Somalia seeking statehood for close to three decades, to Nairobi.
The 2019 Asmara Tripartite Communique (between Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia) urges for RESPECT of Somalia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
This is a test for the alliance members Eritrea and Ethiopia as they are expected to show solidarity with Somalia. Are they going to do that in public or behind the scene?

I always had a problem with African leaders who appear to be subservient to their former colonial masters' whims and wishes. It is no secret that ever since its "independence", the Kenyan leaders have been shamelessly acting and behaving to appease the UK's self-centered command of "Jump"! and only answering it by complementary "How high"! But that is their business.
I support Somalia's action against Kenya for it has violated Somalia's sovereignty. It is also one of the cardinal Memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed in Asmara a couple of years ago between Eritrea, Ethiopia, and Somalia. I also believe Eritrea and Ethiopia (as well as the lifeless IGAD) should condemn the Kikuyu action in the open for all to hear and see.

The Saudi Delegation in the House ....
(MOI Eritrea) - - President Isaias Afwerki met this evening at State House Saudi Arabia's delegation led by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud. The delegation delivered messages from King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud as well as Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to President Isaias.
The two sides held extensive talks on bilateral ties and regional issues of mutual importance. Affirming that the two countries hold convergent views & positions on all these matters, they agreed to bolster their ties & to establish a Joint Committee to implement the common vision.

Great news for the people and gov't of Sudan. The Trump Administration has removed Sudan from its blacklist of state sponsors of terrorism after nearly three decades.
