With each passing day, the authoritarians in this country become more bold in their declarations.
The more they blather, the more committed I am to never relinquish my guns. Can you imagine what these totalitarians would be doing if they didn't have to worry about the armed citizens of this country? I believe it the only reason we're able to hold them a bay.
These domestic enemies, of whom we've been warned, are a very serious threat. They realize their window is closing and they are making a run for the end zone.
Can't wait to see what President Puddin-head's puppet masters to try next.

This is not an American president. This is a pseudo-president. This is not even a man. This is the reincarnation of Benedict Arnold. This is a remotely controlled mannequin parroting the talking points of some marxist policy maker. This is a mock president whose words damn with faint praise all the American heroes who willingly spilled their blood so that he could deliver his people and his nation into the hands of foreign despots for his own personal gain.

Ever stop to think, that Joey is doing this to stop his slide into irrelevancy? A Democrat loser trying to become the next governor of Texas, crashed a news conference, to put on his special show about this shooting. If Beto can do it, why not Joey? Personally I think it is a sign of desperation on their part.

Thom • 1 year ago

The people, some sadistic former SF and LE types designing the combat shooting scenarios I had to complete went out of their way at times to push the envelope on demonstrating the limits of each class of weapon (pistol, carbine/rifle, shotgun). Be it very close (7 feet) with a "long gun" in tight confines or a bit of a reach with an offhand shot with a pistol (35 yards) out in the open or having to both shoot long and short with a shot gun, they made their practical point. Don't take a knife to a gun fight. An open sight handgun in most people's hand(s) properly held is a long blade knife. A kitchen knife does more damage than each hit from a 9mm handgun. You lose against a rifle all else equal outside of point blank range. Soft body armor will stop most pistol and shot from a shotgun. Takes hard plates to stop pretty much any centerfire rifle. BA protects only about 100 square inches forward. I don't think Officer Wilson of that famous Gary Brown, "hands up don't shoot lie" encounter ever hit center of mass with his long blade knife given his condition at the time. He fired at least half his mag at a very large, charging and getting closer Gary Brown... And hit him at least 8-9 times but only one hit stopped him. That's the nature of handguns and their cartridges.

In both cases, Top's in Buffalo and now Robb Elementary, the security officer on site failed to stop the rifle armed thug. Doesn't matter at all what style of rifle he used since every centerfire rifle made will outrange that pistol both officers tried to engage the thug with. The retire Cop at Top's apparently followed his "training" to the letter and repeatedly fired center of mass hoping for a different result until the thug just raised his rifle and fired at him at point blank range. That's often the result of one's only experience with firearms in combat situations being classroom level "training". The security officer at Robb's could not stop the thug with his pistol and was shot for his troubles. I don't know the exact range involved but I'm have a very well honed understanding of the effective range of an offhand pistol shot. Once you add stress into the equation, the differences between open sight handgun use and any shoulder fired "long gun" are amplified a great deal. Both men posted as security at both locations took a knife to a gun fight. Not to make too fine a point here but that is Dept/Company/State/government polices there. I'll leave those that set such policies to defend them. That's a guaranteed loser in a combat situation and any fight with firearms is combat. Stupids are slaved to the scenarios they invent in their minds about how such things should go down. The results of how such goes down, with handguns are very well documented. The few rifles used each year compared to handguns get all the News coverage. Those banging on this or that "style" of rifle should tell us what the total number of those murdered each year is vs. the numbers murdered using non-firearms. That's an impressive differential there. Let's see 1 murderer kills 10, 10 murders kill 10 and the one is the problem to be solved here.

The bulk of the folks running around a crime scene like you see at Robb Elementary, Top's Grocery and way back at the Virginia Tech shooting couldn't keep up with me on one of my hikes. Most carrying the ARs look like they haven't had much experience with carrying and employing such. The guys that do have the skills always arrive well after matters are normally resolved and aren't needed. Rushing into such situations are risk prone for those you wish to save and those that rush in. Fundamentally, the solution to such situations are never going to come from external the site of the problem. The LE out in Vegas apparently didn't have a counter sniper team in a place where masses of people are packed into open venues and surrounded by ideal sniper stands. Lots of LE running around with nothing but shotguns and long blade knives. The murderer was pretty much done when he was finally taken. The Israeli athletes were slaughtered by the PLO because the German Police didn't have the means to deal with the terrorists. The people training me had "real" combat experience and wanted me to survive on the streets here. The people waving the "bloody rage" live behind masses of private and tax payer paid public security and gated communities of which Washington DC is one giant gated community. I don't have that luxury thus I don't let class room training and arcane policies dictate how I fight.

Bring a knife to a gun fight expect to lose simply put.

Police officers should have ready access to a tactical rifle. Such as in the trunk of a car or a locked cabinet in a building.

Thom • 1 year ago

The Cops I knew and have retired had an "AR" with open sights chained to the roof of their police car trunk (key lock required to release) and the trunk lid chained down and had to be released by a means they would generally only know. They were always concerned with leaving the patrol car alone because of what was in it. I shot against such people. They weren't very good with such because one, they got very little practical training with such (outside of being assigned to SWAT) and two without optics or a lot of practice otherwise they just can't use the weapon fully to its potential most of the time. You can tell those that know how to use such by the way they carry them most of the time. That comes from practice. The amateurs are easy to spot at these crime scenes. "ARs" are expensive to train with, compared to pistols. Police Depts make judgement calls on where they want to spend what they have. A cabinet full of rifles rarely handled and used is like all those French Rifles I hear about. One locked in the trunk and the paperwork involved with the use of such is a deterrence to the street cops whose daily routine is driving a patrol car and writing traffic tickets. Only the SWAT guys get effective training but they are always the last to arrive as a "unit". There's a world of difference when your primary is a carbine vs. a handgun in handling skills and results, etc. That was the purpose of the training above. To teach what those limitations are, push the envelope for each class of weapon and hopefully impart the idea that if you bring a knife to a gun fight you are going to lose. The locked in trunk or cabinet back at the station "AR" are liabilities in Department risk management thinking. That's what my training was to demonstrate to the LE personnel sent to the training... Policy will keep that shinny new "AR" in the trunk until the bodies are cold. Lack of training with will too. Take a knife, lose the bulk of the time. That won't penetrate the skulls of policy makers there. That's why they need to blame the "rifle". It has advantages over the long bladed knives.

Alan Stevens • 1 year ago

Then they need to practice. There is no excuse for an officer with a pistol to not have access to a long gun when he is facing a criminal with one.

Thom • 1 year ago

Well, Department policy tends to govern here. Follow policy, keep a paycheck. Don't lose a job and no references for getting another in same field.

Try joining any PD and dictating what you should have, when and how you practice such on the Dept dime.

Alan Stevens • 1 year ago

The PD policies should specify what mix of long guns should be on the force and their storage and training.

. “Has [gun control] worked in Chicago, New York, or Washington, which have some of our highest gun murder rates despite their draconian restrictions on firearms ownership?”

Gun control advocated by leftist polities is the exact opposite of an anti-crime policy. Hence leftist politicos, such as California Governor Gavin Newsom, are responsible for the exploding crime rate. By now, this is no longer surprising.

Consider these bizarre leftist policies:

— Confiscation of guns from honest citizens.
— Massive release of murderous criminals.
— Open borders to flood the country with thugs.
— Allegiance with MS-13 gangs and their ilk.
— A blizzard of illicit drugs like fentanyl.
— Admittance of murderous thugs.

A recent example of the latter is the would-be assassins who were caught at the border. Their target, as it happens, was ex-president G. W. Bush.

The Left is in love with murderous criminals. So the open borders outrage should come as no surprise whatsoever. The death toll already exceeds 100,000 victims. The Democrat mob has blood on its hands.

"So you'd continue to sell AR-15s to 18 year olds?"

Should we take away machine guns from 18 year olds in the military? We train them how to kill very well if you bother to look into that. At what age is someone worthy of being able to defend themselves I would ask? Give us that ideal age and then lets apply that to who goes off to fight our wars then. There were people in my boot camp company I wouldn't hand a broom to yet the military took them and handed them any handheld weapon they had. What makes the "AR" your choice of hate here? If my first cousin was still around he and his girl friend would tell you that one shot from a 12 gauge shotgun at 4 inches from your chest and about 4 feet across the hood of a car is a real game changer. Just imagine what an 18 year old could do in a school with one of those? Oh, I forgot, some nutcase kid has already done that example.

"Armed forces in the military use weapons under strict supervision"

Right and you've never actually been in the military in any capacity where that has any meaning. The "military", the Master at Arms handed me a .45 acp 1911 that I never had training on and was expected to know how to and be effective use on board a ship. I've trained with "military" officers who haven't fired their M4 since boot camp and they are in their mid 20s. A now retired LT Col of the Army was traveling alone on orders and stopped by a Cop in New Jersey with his M4 an "kit" in the back seat. Just imagine that conversation. "Yes sir, I see Sir, you aern't 18 years old Sir", "Good day Sir". Strict supervision is complete BS. How'd that strict supervision work out there at Ft Hood when a Major shot up his defenseless fellow soldiers in a "mass" shooting and it was civilian cops that arrived and managed to only wound such? He wasn't 18 nor used an "AR". He did a bang up job with just two pistols. Who taught him to shoot that well there?

Thom • 1 year ago

I make perfect sense. How many "dead" kids were killed last year with pistols? A very large number there. How many with non-firearms, a huge number compared to all rifles yet you focus on styling of a rifle to vent on and show concern for all "those" dead children. The number of dead children you show absolutely no concern for here is staggering. Why 18 year olds is your hate object here? You can't refute what I say so you try to avoid the idea all together now. Have you seen the graph by age of murderer and those murdered lately? It rises sharply from the late teens and peaks around age 24 and declines into the 30s. The bulk of those doing the murdering are fatherless trash dumped on the street for society to deal with. Are we going to keep selling "SUVs" to the trash that ran all those "other" dead kids over recently? He wasn't 18, Had a criminal record a mile long and we let such people drive "assault" vehicles. It is easier to buy an "assault vehicle" than a gun anywhere in the nation. What about all those "dead kids"? Someone has to deal with the trash of society. The Cops have shown decades of evidence they can't. Who does that leave? You?

I was the military dumb butt. When commanders with the funds send their folks "off books" to get effective training they do so because what the military has devolved into isn't cutting it. What took place on the Fitzgerld and McCain could not have taken place on my Tin Can short of at least 5 watch standers not doing their jobs. Yeah, right the military use of small arms is under strict supervision by people with silver stars coming to people like me to learn how to shoot well. It's a booming business for serious people who don't put faith in the non-sense you spout.

You and Thom both make good points and it's a shame that in a so-called 'diverse' society where nobody trusts the government and distrust each other even more, that tragedies such as this cannot be properly addressed.

BOTH sides claim that the election system is corrupt. BOTH sides claim to have authority under The Constitution. BOTH sides want a strong police force to enforce their agenda even as they distrust it.

Thom • 1 year ago

You can't fix a problem you coddle, protect and excuse for political reasons that starts eating on your toes and works its way up till there is nothing left to save. Objects don't create problems. The people that condone the culture we give license to act out on are the enablers. 50 plus years of war on "drugs" hasn't solved any problems associated with the choices people make we condone more or less. We blame the "drugs" for what people choose to do. Same with "guns", certain guns at least, the "bad guns" of course. We blame the "drugs" for all the overdoses, yet all those overdoses were with "illegal" or controlled substances that the "government" can't control but surely gets bigger off of. Who forced those people to take those
"drugs"? We excuse the "murderers", the "drug addicts", the "homeless", the Welfare Queens the "government" enabled decades ago and then complain about the problem of fatherless male children, "burning, looting and murdering" anyone they can get away with.

Simply put, when does polite society hold anyone responsible for their actions anymore? All the folks attacking Rittenhouse were convicted criminals. Who let them out? Doesn't matter how many "police" you have if as in NYC you can commit over 100 felonies over years and not be removed from society. Multiply that by a few thousand there and pretty soon you have the latest installment of the Joker movie sans the Batman.

As I've said before, "laws" aren't going to save a corrupt society from itself.

How do you stop gun crime by stopping lawful gun ownership? The 2nd Amendment is there to protect us from tyranny. That is a higher priority than occasional crazies who go berserk. But collectivists don't recognize that.

MS.....school shooting

Added information:
Wow. So they changed the story 3 times. At first they said there was a resource officer who confronted the shooter with gunfire then they said that he didnt fire at the shooter and now they are saying there was no security guard at all and the shooter just walked right in.
Kind of a big detail to miss don't you think?)More things that don't add up.
The door was unlocked.
They just let him walk right in.
No resistance at all.
Who gave the order to stand down?
Is it normal for swat to take this long to arrive on the scene?
Another question. Did this shooter have a "therapist?"
Who paid for the expensive weapons he had?
Anons will get to the bottom of this. ying there was no security guard at all and the shooter just walked right in.
Kind of a big detail to miss don't you think?)

"...some imagined dystopia..."

Yes, I lament the gun violence caused by a breakdown in values. BTW, Democrat policies promote the breakdown. We could mitigate the gun violence by reinstating responsibilities to go along with rights. The answer isn't to take away more rights and more responsibilities. And yes, I will tolerate an occasional school massacre to protect America from the tyranny of creeping collectivism that seeks to make us subjects rather than citizens. Guns aren't the problem; people and their evolving values are the problem. I notice you say little about the far more frequent killings in our urban areas. These are almost always hand guns, but you prefer to rail against long guns. I'd say you're the crazy one. And the uncaring, short-sighted, delusional one.

It is typical leftist "argument" to ignore logic and favor emotion. Stop implying that I don't care about massacred children! The 2nd Amendment protects us from tyranny. Totalitarianism isn't some odd abstraction; in my lifetime we have moved far away from constitutional principles and toward state control. In some places people have no voice at all. Now we're supposed to go after law-abiding gun owners in response to law-breaking. Give us a plausible scenario for why we should give up rights and risk future tyranny in order to virtue-signal that we care, while coddling law-breakers and clamping down on the people.

Would you be willing to scrap the 1st Amendment if it might save lives?
How about the 5th? We could do away with that, and get more criminals off the streets.
Maybe the equal protection clause? I mean, for the greater good of the collective and all?

The best interpretation is that emotional leftists don't reason through a problem. They identify a quick-fix answer and don't pause to consider the ramifications. No evaluation of costs/benefits. Or maybe more sinister, they know what they're doing but go ahead because the ramifications can be managed and it gets us closer to a collectivist state, which they consider worth the costs. Recent examples:

COVID is an unknown, so let's lock down and stay locked down long after we get a handle on it. Ruin the economy, get more people hooked on handouts, incur fantastic debt, watch businesses close permanently , drug and alcohol abuse and suicides spike, and children lose years of socialization, because it may save lives.

Global warming happens, and we might slow it by ruining the economy, incurring fantastic debt, consigning more people to poverty, watching businesses close permanently, and taking away personal liberty, to reduce warming by a degree or two over a century. Nevermind whether the immense pain is worth the meager gain.

COVID is a great excuse to scrap duly-enacted election laws and wing it with mail-in for all, do away with deadlines and signature checks, promote unprotected drop boxes and ballot harvesting, and while we're at it, let's make our new rules permanent. Don't worry about election integrity because more people are voting and lax rules don't hurt Democrats.

And now: family breakdown leaves many teenage boys without male role models. They grow up directionless and mad at the world. Some go berserk and kill wantonly. Instead of working to make families stronger and individuals more responsible, let's take away rights, make the people even more powerless, and make the state more powerful.

Yes, I will tolerate occasional berserk crazies killing innocents if it is the price we pay for the means to defend ourselves against criminals and despots. You would rather trade away our freedoms and hope that the bad guys will respect that and not be bad anymore.

"Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."
