The avenue where I live was lined with Almond blossom trees but they have gradually disappeared as the canopies drooped over the pavements and it became more difficult to back out of the drives into the road because the view was obscured. I am lucky though because the one remaining, on a spacious green corner viewed from my window, has been allowed to flourish and it is a magnificent sight every Spring.
I have two Almonds and a Morello cherry, my favourite of all the species, in my garden and I am always amazed that the heavy fall of blossom disappears like dust rather than lying on the lawn in a soggy mulch.
