Neat idea! But I like having the comments section, so lovely people such as yourself can tell me nice things. It makes my day every time!
I like that too, but, I want others to be happy, including...
SOLVETHECUBE!!!
Shut up
when did you start speedcubing, SolveTheCube?
btw im in 2026 love ur site
I solved my 2x2 in 3.00 seconds using my own method!
Thx
Thanks friend! I started about twenty years ago, what a journey it's been!
I’m gay
Damn ok
Yo guys from 2026!
What do I do when the white and yellow sides are solved but the second layer still needs to be solved?
Assuming white and yellow are opposite, I'd just ignore the yellow face and solve the second layer like normal. Then you can solve the last layer like normal too! I'm sure there are some algorithms for middle layer shenanigans but I don't know any of the top off my head, sorry!
Thanks!
Another question, what if the yellow side, and white side are solved but only the third layer still needs to be solved?
Are white and yellow opposite each other? It doesn't really matter which sides are solved, as this method always solves layer by layer. If one of the other sides is solved before the whole cube is, then you can just ignore it as a happy coincidence :)
That’s the same question.
Hi there! First of all this site is great! I memorized the beginners method in a couple of weeks and then surprised my family. It was nice to show them that a 47 year old dog can learn new tricks! I have a suggestion and a question:
Suggestion: I think you could feature an Amazon link to your favorite cubes a bit more prominently and maybe make some money. I did eventually see an Amazon UK link buried in here somewhere but had already bought a cube at that point.
Question: Is there a website somewhere that explains what the triggers actually do? Like X Y Z will change the position of the top edge cubies or whatever? Thanks again!
Hello! Thanks for using the site and jolly well done on learning it! I did actually look at Amazon referral links but it isn't suitable for a site like this. You can take a look at the notation page here (https://solvethecube.com/no... for a visual guide on what the various rotations and notations do to the cube. I hope that's what you meant!
hmm well actually I was thinking more like "Sexy move (notations) will result in THIS" Sledgehammer (notations) will do THIS." This is all on my quest to learn the speedcubing F2L intuitively but I'm having difficulties. There are a lot of videos but I prefer text explanations to video since I practice on the bus to work. I couldn't find what I'm looking for on the Reddit cuber forum either. Oh well.
Sexy move and sledgehammer are only four moves each, so you only have to do them backwards to see what position each of them solves! I think I know what you're getting at, but I'm not sure it'll help you - learning how a four-move sequence affects each cubie isn't the same as practising F2L. You simply won't have time to utilise that knowledge as part of a solve. Instead, I think you should focus more on learning each of the F2L situations. It's a bit strange at first as it seems like there's a lot of them, but it'll click eventually! You won't be executing prelearned sequences, you'll be working out each one as it comes. Practice going slowly and see how far you get with each F2L pair in a solve. That's how it clicked for me!
In part #1 of step 6, I didn't see what to do if you have NO correct corners. That's what I have. Please comment,
&, can you tell me when this site was created? I really LOVE the layout of it.
In that case Andrew, just do the algorithm anyway and at least one of your corners will then be correct. You can then proceed as normal. The current incarnation of the site went live around June/July last year, so it's just over a year old already! That included the fancy menu, the algorithm helper, and the timer. The site itself has been about since around 2008 I believe, but it was a lot different back then!
My brain is hurting I want to be able to get past the step before the last step. I just have a hard time understanding some steps because they are so confusing.I'm also trying my hardest w/o destroying the dang thing and being a sore losser and I tossing it out. But obviously I'm refusing to be a sore losser.
Explain your problem Brianna - are you having problems with the OLL or the PLL
Can you describe your problem or post a picture of it ?
Don't be a loser Brianna! I believe in you! Are there any specific problems you're having, or perhaps any part that I might be able to help you with?
What's you average of 5, 3x3 and do you solve blindfolded how do you get into that?
https://uploads.disquscdn.c... ;)
Bear in mind that I'm quite rusty! For reference, my best ever average time over ten solves is 25.31s. I know this because I keep them in a spreadsheet.
I don't do blindfold solves, so I'm afraid I can't really help you other than suggesting you find a bit of cloth, tie it around your head and let the magic happen!
Is that BLD or normal. BTW isnt the dayan V Zhanchi very old, there are other cubes better than it now
I haven't found any better yet than the zhanchi 5; still searching.
how about the moyu weilong gts 2, valk 3 or gans 356 air? They are all much better. If not price wise than atleast MF3RS?
I went and found all the cubes that claim they are the best. I bought them all. I was terribly disappointed. My stickerless Dyan Zanchi Is sooooo SMOOTH
When I make any turns - it is like silky air. These others I can feel bumps and lumps when I Make my moves. You can feel "rubbing" of the pieces as they pass each other.
My next cube... still searching; is going to be the $99 dollar Lubix modified cube.
I will let you know what I think when it arrives and is tested.
the zhanchi has much more lockups and is more prone to pops than those cubes
I have never experienced that with my cube.
The New Dayan Guhong is smooth as silk the pieces float, you can't feel them rubbing other pieces and they make no noise. AND today I just received a new cube.
Gan 365 s
It feels similar to the fangshi - loose & wicked fast.
I am not one bit interested in speed solving.- People can't see or understand what you are doing.
Doing us all a service again Majik!
Just normal, I don't really do blindfolded. And yes, the Zhanchi is a bit old now bit I've never really thought about upgrading. I'm very happy with it!
YAY!! I have finally beat one of my teachers! When i came to tis site i was averaging 50 now 24!
I mean all the youtubers that i am watching to get sub 20 are all sub 10. I have no idea when i will reach that
I have about 20 different cubes..... My favorite one is still the Dyan 5 Zhanchi
Regular and 42mm (stickerless)
Using Lubix Cube silicone it is smoother than "silk"
Quite good, your websites helped me get my first sub 40 average so thx, keep up the great work.
You too! Congratulations!
You are very right, this site is better than any video because this tezt text is so interactive! More than any video! Thank you very much for it. Although I already knew how to solve but reading everything on this site improved my understanding. And the new site is great. Keep up the good work.
I learnt one algorithm every day, that way i could remember it thouroughly and it wasnt to much to take in at the same time. I managed to remember all the algorithms in 3 months.
Nice work Li
I really like this site. It's the best I've come across and I've bookmarked it so that I can refer to whenever I need to. Thank you for putting in so much effort! Using beginners method I managed to speed up my solving time to ~2.5 min. It seems impossible to get any faster without knowing more advanced algorithms. How did you remember so many of them? Looks like a mission impossible to me!
Thank you very much! I haven't memorised all of the algorithms at all, so I still use 2-look OLL/PLL a lot. There does seem like a lot of them, but breaking them down by shape or trigger certainly makes it more manageable!
I'm amazed by how good is this web!! Congrats and thank you :D I surely hope you get some retribution for all the work you put into this! Also, the web design is great.
Thank you very much!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR DARK MODE. I purposefully don't access this website as much because it was so bright and I wanted to chill and learn some cube algorithms while watching YouTube. However, the font of the section where you enter your name and password to sign up with Disqus is white while the background is also white.
pls suggest a good cube i should buy for speedcubing. my minimum speed for solving is 35sec. pls suggest :D
For clarification, at the Question:
"How do I check if my cube is unsolvable? How can I fix if it is?"
At the second image (the tetris T shape), it IS fixable. You treat it as if it is a line case.F (R U R' U') F'
its probably just me but the steps keep not working, the first and second, and my cube is solvable for sure! i ran it through a tester and it said it was solvable. i dont know whats happening? please tell me if you have the chance.
This is so legit. Have you thought of putting a little link at the bottom of the last page that says, "You helped me solve my 1st cube" to track how many people you help?
