It's the best tutorial I saw on internet in my opinion. I managed to solve the cube thanks to the indications. I would totally recommend this website for the beginners.

solvethecube • 9 years ago

Thanks Sven! Very kind of you to say so!

I'm having trouble at step 6. The first time i tried to solve the cube i was able to skip this step because my corners all ended up in the correct spots. This time not so much. If I put in the algorithm at step 6 three times in a row everything returns to it's original position, but if i don't return them the white cubes on the bottom are disturbed. I continuously used the algorithm to no avail. Will anyone explain what I am doing wrong?

Aamir Rizwan • 10 years ago

Takuto Himeragi Initially I also had trouble with the last step. I think you missed this line like me "Once the two or four algorithms are completed and the cubie is happily yellow side up, you have to do the same thing again on the next incorrectly oriented cubie. To do this, twist only the up face until another incorrectly oriented cubie is in the FRU corner,...... " .
Solving one corner will mess up bottom cubes but when you solve all the corners those messed up cubes will finally land to their correct position.

solvethecube • 10 years ago

That's correct!

solvethecube • 10 years ago

If you are disturbing the bottom layer cubes, I suspect you might be doing the algorithm incorrectly. Perhaps use the notation page to check each move to make sure you're doing the right ones. You also won't always have to perform the algorithm three times - make sure you're holding the cube the right way as described in the step, and make sure you check the cube between algorithms so you don't do the algorithm too many times. Hope this helps!

Wow!!!!this helped me a lot I solved most of the cube by this

solvethecube • 10 years ago

Your dog and his reflection helped you to solve a Rubik's cube? Good boy!

Andrei Olarescu • 7 years ago

Nice tutorial, solved the cube twice already. But first solve was much easier somehow and it was solved before last 7 step. Now I did it with this scary part. Did it first algorithm and I wanted to throw away the cube when I saw it scrambled :D But I've read instructions again, and all good after all. Once again, great instructions!

Thanks Andrei!

Well done Dileep!

What a fantastic website! Solves all of my cubing needs

Charity • 8 years ago

I just got my first 3x3 a week ago, and because of this site i finished it the next day. Now I can solve it with an average of 2.37 minutes, My little brother is super jealous, because he got his cube a week before I did, and he's only solved it twice in these past two weeks (not for lack of trying). Thanks for the easy instructions!

solvethecube • 8 years ago

Great work Charity, nothing like a bit of sibling rivalry to motivate you. You've told him about this site though right?

Charity • 8 years ago

Of course! He finally figured it out today, actually! He's really excited.

Goran Goes • 8 years ago

thanks man i solved it

KC Ezreal • 9 years ago

Hello, in Step 7
(R' D' R D)*2 or (R' D' R D)*4
Have any more quickly method to solve?

Jesús Advíncula • 8 years ago

instead of (R' D' R D)*4 u can do (D'R'DR)*2

solvethecube • 8 years ago

Jesús that is brilliant! I've never seen this algorithm before, thank you very much for sharing it!

solvethecube • 9 years ago

There's a whole page dedicated to doing it faster! Here you go: https://solvethecube.com/sp.... As for a faster way of doing just step 7, I don't know of a faster algorithm. But if you get a nice slippy cube and you get your ring fingers going, that algorithm can get pretty darn snappy.

Rachel • 9 years ago

I love the new website! :) <3

Paul • 10 years ago

Oh my, the new site is magnificent! The designer must be terribly smart and handsome

Majik Imaje • 4 years ago

Where did every body go ?? you learned from this site and once you learned you never came back why ??

Majik Imaje • 4 years ago

Well I hate to say this; but it seems the only option you have: is to START ALL OVER.
It appears that once people learn - they leave.
Another thing I can't understand is when we solve the cube - we never have to use the PLL
After the OLL we are always left with just 4 options The four edges ONLY.

Hi, I have the cube for more than 25 years and I'm kind of decent 2-3 min to solve... But... Last year I got in a situation were a kid had a cube and was impossible to solve. Thanks to this guide I managed to save my brain from blowing up... I was at the point where I was thinking I lost mind. BTW... I'll try to make my speed technic better. Cheers Mate

solvethecube • 7 years ago

I'm glad you managed it, well done Marcel!

Marcel Pop • 7 years ago

the cube had a corner with wrong colors

Beautiful! Went from sexy move to guaranteed solve in ONLY 2 DAYS!
Make sure you mention to repeat step 6 until all the corners are correct!
Good job!

ZeLink • 7 years ago

Really great, just one question, could you make a site that will teach us how to solve a 2x2 Rubik's cube?

solvethecube • 7 years ago

Thanks! I'm afraid not for a 2x2 guide - I don't have enough time to do everything I want on this site, let alone a whole new guide for the 2x2! I'm more of a 3x3 man myself, I have other cubes but the classic 3x3 is where the real fame and money lies.

ZeLink • 7 years ago

OK.

Sebastian • 8 years ago

I use the same method and my record is 54,37 secons

C 6 • 8 years ago

Omg thanks so much! Thanks to you I could finally complete the 6 stage. But at the last stage I dont know what I did wrong, i've got all the FRU corners correct so the top layer is finished but the bottom two layers haven't resolved themselves. Is there anything I can do or did I just mess up, so I'll have to start again ughh?
Thanks already!

solvethecube • 8 years ago

I'm afraid you just have to start again when that happens. It's frustrating, I know. Usually, the cause of this happening is that you turned the whole cube to put the next incorrect cubie in the FRU position, instead of just the Up face.

Eric Robinsón • 8 years ago

This is very usefull, I have a small cubes collection (2x2x2 a triangle one, and a 6x6x6 are my precious ones), I've learnt to do the first and second layer on my own, understanding the logic of the movements. But I cant get the hang of the logic on the last layer. I mean ... I dont want to just remember the algs, so my question is ... if I keep practicing will the algs will make sense to understand the movements? Thanks in advance!

solvethecube • 8 years ago

To be honest Eric, I think you'd have to be a singularly smart cookie in order to intuitively understand the last layer. There's simply too much complexity there. Maybe there are other solutions that utilise a more intuitive methodology, but for layer-by-layer or CFOP you'll just have to learn the algorithms.

I think it's sort of like how you don't need to know how an engine works to drive a car - you can learn how the algorithms work and how and when to use them without understanding each individual move. In programming, this paradigm is called 'encapsulation', if you're interested. Each part of the program can work together without having to understand how each other part works. Quite a bit of encapsulation went into building this site!

But to answer your question, yes. If you keep practising, the algorithms will make sense. But you likely won't be able to solve the cube without using the algorithms - you'll just know which algorithms to use and when!

this helped me so much and is way better than any youtube video i saw

moshe • 8 years ago

Great tutorial, just solved my cube completely for the first time! I've been struggling for a while with the last layer and this tutorial finally made it clear! Thanks!

solvethecube • 8 years ago

Good job, I'm glad I could help you!

Drew • 8 years ago

I got into cubing two days ago! It's finals season so I stupidly ordered myself a distraction on amazon. 2:40 is my best time so far.

Surprisingly, finding good info has been tough. This is the best beginner's manual I've seen yet! I picked up two new algorithms from you I'll have to add to my repertoire and see if I can break 2 minutes. Idk if I'll ever learn the speed method though haha it seems quite memorizing-intensive.

solvethecube • 8 years ago

Thanks Drew! I'm sure that if you work really hard and put away silly distractions like exams, you'll smash that 2 minute barrier. Some things are just too important!
But for real, good luck with your exams!

Muhammad Bilal • 9 years ago

i still cant solve the cube can you personally help help eg on messenger

solvethecube • 9 years ago

Of course Muhammad! If you go to the contact page you can send me an email, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Include some photos of what you mean if it makes it easier to explain!

Michael • 9 years ago

A wallpaper I made a while back, before the site update. Figured I'd share before I make a new one. :)
