Haven't heard of a squeeking issue regarding vinyl flooring before as it is typically glued directly to the concrete slab. If you are concerned about squeeking there is one brand that is sold with a cork backing which could eliminate that potential problem.

Does SMART carpeting refinish existing hardwood flooring?

Unfortunately we do not perform that service. If you look in yellow pages under flooring installation or flooring refinishing you'll find people that can do that.

does installation of hardwood flooring include moisture barrier and/or sound reduction padding?

We only install a moisture barrier when we are installing engineered hardwood or laminate over a cement sub-floor. The cost of the moisture barrier is included in the cost of the hardwood. It is not proper installation technique to use a moisture barrier over wood as it is not necessary and the nails used to secure the floor would make holes in the moisture barrier. We do offer a sound resistant pad that can be installed over a wood floor and there is an additional charge for that. There is no sound pad install over cement as we need to glue the flooring directly to the sub-floor. Hope we have answered your questions.

Our installation charges vary depending on the product. For Hardwood Flooring there is no installation charges....it is all part of the square foot price. For carpet, laminate or vinyl there is a flat installation fee of $49 whether it is one room or a whole house.

Typically we use a product similar to tar paper that goes underneath nailed hardwood. that acts a a moisture barrier but no so much as a cushion as that is not desired under hardwood. The proper way to handle that installation issue would be for us to disassemble the entertainment center, move it and then re-assemble it after the carpet installation.
