The worst thing about SEO is, you can never know with what google update all your ranking will be fluctuated.
Not true for competent SEOs. You should quit if algorithm updates are a problem for you.
Google should stop announcing details of their algorithm... And SEOs should stop following it like a bunch of robots. How about quality sites, with quality content, that's good for consumers? SEO will take care of itself.
SEO's who religiously follow all of G's guidelines, have no gut instinct and don't know how to think outside the box.
I think there are plenty of People who think they know SEO but they don't
The worst thing about SEO is your SEO efforts not reaping fruits think it should.
One more thing bad thing about SEO is not understanding the Google Algorithm changes.
There are two sides of same coin. If SEO has a good side it ought to have a bad one too.
That doesn't surprise anybody. Google managers will always hate SEOs (even the white-hat ones).
One of the worst things is prospective clients complaining about outreach costs since another agency can give them 200 links a month for only $50. No matter how much you explain about quality, cost always wins a lot of the time.
My biggest thing is that if we are ranking fabulous its cuz of my seo..if we suck..its cuz of Google.. no accountability.
Don't listen to them Barry you're special to me.
From a practitioner's perspective, it's got to be clients who want to cherry pick only the cheapest and easiest things to do out of all the recommendations, and then can't understand why the results are not as good as they should be.
From a client's perspective, it's got to be all the bad information out there that makes them think they know more than their consultant and overrule the advice. Either way, the clients end up thinking SEO doesn't work, ever.
As I replied on Twitter - "everything" (minus expletive)
Yeah John, there's those lying Adwords sellers who keep bothering me to spend more money. The trust is that these scum bags would sell their granny for a few extra bucks.
Google are the worst thing about SEO.
Barry you cover SEO for free, i don't always agree with your take, but you are one of the BEST things about SEO.... many people would be screwed without your coverage, which is more important than ever with Sullivan leaving
Awww…
Whats that smell...? Oh yeah it's a bro-mance brewing...
Google not revealing their algorithm, leaving us guessing on details and finding surprises we don't understand when the do unannounced changes. (And I agree with most of the others, too.)
...the lack of intellectual conversations.
Don't listen to them Berry, you're the best thing about SEO
No, I'm the best thing about SEO. (end super kidding & sarcasm). No, seriously, Barry, you are quite awesome in SEO sir. Don't believe a word they say.
Agencies that offer SEO Packages. £XXX.XX for Bronze, £XXX.XX for Silver, etc.
I've never once had a consultancy situation that could be banded in similar price brackets. Every scenario requires different approaches.
Dodgy communique from Google employees?
You don't find JM & GI tweets & other "communications" informative?! Both are about as useful as tits on a bull.
The worst part of SEO is focus on the algos rather than the audience they are trying to reach... basically trying to game the system rather than earn their spot.
Agency SEOs by far the worst thing!
If you're any good at SEO you don't need to work at some shitty agency, you can make much more money from your own sites, but then again most agency SEOs can't rank which is why they are at the agency in first place haha.
The worst thing about SEO is link building, it takes so much time!!!
