how come this guy did not include the REAL reason this empire lasted that long. it was because they banned jews from every occupation except the trades and farming. that is the only reason they lasted

NirKon • 4 years ago

Remember the "ghetto", "Masada", the destruction of Jerusalem, The Merchant of Venice and not to forget, the crying Woltz in the Godfather with his severed prized race-horse's head in his sheets! Italians always show Jews not to f-ck with them!

Al Carbone • 4 years ago

how about the Romans putting a special tax on jews called the jew tax. the coliseum was built with money the Romans stole from the jews when they destroyed the temple in 70AD

Thank you for this outstanding article!

Rome dominated for hundreds of years. But `Byzantium' or `New Rome' was clearly more Greek and Slavic and more humane than the brutal Romans, whose population was 30% slaves. Constantine moved the capital of `Rome' to Constantinople because he despised Rome.

Constantine, the man who founded Byzantium and made Christianity its official religion was a SERB without a drop of Roman noble blood. He was born in Nis, Serbia to an `Illyrian' but still `Roman' general Constantius. His mother Helena was the daughter of a local tavern keeper. His father didn't even know Constantine existed until a Roman officer happened to see him as a boy and noted he was the picture of the general.

Constantine despised the Roman gladiatorial games which were degenerate human and animal mass blood sacrifices. It's very important to remember that Constantine BANNED blood sacrifice in Byzantium. The `Romans' of Rome kept the games going until 700AD.

My last name means "Protector of Mankind"! It was a name given to 5 of the Byzantine Emperors of Constantinople. My ancestry came from Sparta during the Trojan War, then to Athens, then to Rome and Constantinople, then to Russia, and lastly to Europe and the Hapsburgs. Constantinople was once a thriving and mighty city during Europe's Medieval times. It had a big stadium for chariots races and other activities. Aqueducts brought in water from far away for the baths. The palaces of my ancestors had the interior walls covered in gold. That's how rich the city was once upon a time. But everything ages. When the crusaders came, they sacked the palaces and carried off the gold. Aqueducts fell into disrepair. But the worse thing that ended the empire was plague. So many empires ended because the best and brightest were lost from plagues. So when the Muslims arrived, there was no help from Europe. Walls do not protect forever. And this great civilization ended. I do not blame the Jews for this collapse. The Muslims then advanced into Europe which almost fell. But my ancestors along with many others stopped them at the gates of Vienna, Austria. I hope you enjoyed this short story.

Also, The city of Sparta (ΣΠΑΡΤΗ) had no walls... their men WERE their walls !

The animus that drives most Byzantines (and this author clearly is one, even with an Anglo name) is that THEY alone are Legitimate, THEY alone are pure, THEY alone are the ONLY valid 'whatever' on the plane of human existence.

But, just like the North vs. the South in Ancient Israel, the North vs. the South in the American Civil War, the "East vs. West" in Christendom, are the arguings of BRETHREN, who have forgotten the first rule of God's Law:

'Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments; As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the Lord commanded the blessing, even life for evermore." - Ps. 133

Do I deny that Rome is apostate? Not at all. I was raised in that communion; and I watched, dumbfounded, that the "Ecclesiam semper edeam" changed with great rapidity, during my lifetime, and is now ruled by an Arch-Heretic!
Do I deny that the Orthodox East has a grievance against the West, for her ostracization from before the Fall of Byzance to today? Not at all.
Do I deny the validity of Greek as 'the' Scriptural tongue, apart from and superior to the pseudo-Hebrew of the Talmudics? Not at all. The Greek N.T., the LXX, and the very thesis inherent in Yahuda's text, 'Hebrew is Greek' have convinced me, and made me see Jerome the divider in a new light....

But, does that mean this column is 100% without error? NOT IN THE LEAST.
This is a viewpoint, that forgets to see things according to the divine providence of God, and to look at things from a merely human standpoint, rather than a Divine one. [ II Cor. 5:16]

Comments such as the following, implicitly deny the unchanging promises of God to His People [ Matt. 1:21] which can never be obliterated, JUST AS GOD COULD NEVER FORGET THE HOUSE OF ISRAEL, even as HE had 'divorced them' for their sins, yet spent half of the later part of the O.T., saying that he would 'restore the fortunes of Zion,' so, too, would God restore Constantinople, if the West would merely join together, and not seek to divide themselves ever further, using the Godless Jews (Rothschilds, Soros, Schiff, Kushner, et al.) and/or the even less human "Musselmann" (Arabia, Iran, Ilhan Omar, etc) to 'join sides,' while foreign governments (the USA) seek to control Ecclesial sites, like the Phanar!!!

Statements like this have an underlying lack of vision, when contrasted with the Divine vision....
"Therefore it is unreasonable to claim that by being baptized the Romans ceased being Roman. One might as well say that all those formerly pagan peoples entirely vanished upon entering the baptismal font, that we cannot speak of a Christian Greek or a Christian Syrian or for that matter of a Christian Russian, since obviously no nation was Christian before it was baptized."

God had ALREADY covenanted with the Adamic race, 'before the world began.' The Election of the ONE people of God, the Incarnation of Christ, the 'World' of the Gospel (the Roman "Ecumene" was already a 'fait accompli' - millenniae before Adam was created, and Eve was formed!

We ALL (all of Europe, Russia, and the lands established by our racial forebears (Canada, US, OZ, NZ) are brethren. WE DO NOT NEED THE 'Xenos,' the 'Other' the 'Goyim' in our lands- we need to restore communion among the White Europeans of both East and West, before God will bless us!

This circular 'I'm loved by God, no I'm loved by God' rhetoric of the BOTH HALVES of Christendom, needs to stop, before we can stand UNITED against the Deicides, and the Goyim of the World. Sadly, BOTH SIDES of Christendom have listened to 'the Jews and the Lies' as Luther noted, for some centuries....

Not sure. But your argument seems at least plausible.

Dimitri Ledkovsky • 4 years ago

Lots of Oxford Harvard in this piece. Must we assume therefore it's all true and unbiased? I recall that sometimes it was called the Holy Roman Empire, that it was Christian and that its center was Constantinopol, named after it's first Christianized Emperor, Constantine. Damned revisionists.

You who wrote "I don't know.... it's all Greek to me" are more ignorant than you dare imagine since you, whether you like it or not, speak Greek even though you don't know it. The English language consists mainly of Greek words which you think are actually English. They are not. 70,000 Greek words are used to make up the English language. Greek words are used in science, mathematics, geography, history, and the list is endless. The words I just used are Greek by the way. Educate yourself first before you dare make any comments.

Germanics are barbaric forest-nigger devils(and will always be) and the Romans were well aware of this. The Italic race in Europe originated in the steppes of Ukraine over 10,000 years ago after their long migration from the Indus valley in present-day Pakistan. No need to underline that ALL Aryans come from the India-Iran region. The Italics were basically bucolic, wheat farmers for millennia and it was the ancient Celts, in fact, who gave them their original name, Sicels, due to the sickle they used for harvesting. Over time, however, marauding tribes from the east forced them to become more warrior-like in nature to defend themselves and as a consequence, were compelled to uproot and migrate further south into the Balkan peninsula establishing the ancient Vinca and Illyrian civilizations until they crossed the Adriatic and settled in the Italian peninsula around 1600-1500 BC. The Etruscans, Lucanians, Sardinians and Sicels were the first tribal off-shoots and their common origin can be noticed in the burial practice of placing the deceased in "loculi", grotto cave tombs. The Sicels, eventually left the Lazio region where Rome is located in about 1300 BC and moved down south to the island of Sicily, which preserves the name of its early inhabitors and colonizers to date. It shouldn't come as a surprise then why the best grain grown in Europe today and since Roman times comes from this island. Although yes, I do admit that Ukranian grain is still world-renowned for its quality and considered by many to be the best in the entire world, this is a bit of our legacy that remains there to now. Honestly, I would have liked to have sent you a YouTube video on this thesis but it has been taken down as a testament to the vile and demonic "chosen" ones trying to purge all hidden history that is being revealed.

The politically incorrect truth about Rome is that, when Rome adopted Roman Catholicisme as one and only official religion, the Christians, exhorted by pope and bishops, committed a shoah on all who adhered to the traditional religion. This was the ruling elite and the families who produced Romes rulers and generals. It was a bloodbath. \Within 3 days they were done.Thereafter Rome, now without competent rulers and generals, was an easy prey to the invading Goths.
One may call it the second shoah, the first being the annihilation of the Kanaanites as ordered by Moses (see deuteronomy 7) and executed by his follwers, the second being the eradication of traditional believers in Rome, the third being the demise of the American Indians, the fourth the elimination of unwanted nations by the Nazi's. I m sure I forgot some, but is not this enough?

I really can not figure out, what is this all about! If you went to school in Europe, they must have told you, that "Byzantine empire" was in fact East Roman empire! After all, who would the "Byzantines" be?Empire was named after it's Capitol City, but continuation of Roman, what was left of it!

amdg • 4 years ago

I leave aside the use of the name. Constantinople was built on Byzantium, therefore litte wonder they are called byzantines. I find much more outrageous the name “Middle ages”, an ex-post invention of protestant heretics to diminish the Christian Ages of West Europe.

But this is just a naming issue. What no reasonable person can buy is that it “thrived over 1000 years”. It did not thrived at all; it never went beyond the limits of the ancient Roman Empire. It resisted with ups and downs, but always, always shrinking.

If the Ortodox call this thriving. I can only hope that they do no continue thriving another 1000 years.

Eastern Empire was overrun by Islam as early as 700 AD. West defeated Islam and then spread the faith around the world to North America, Central America, South America, Australia, Africa and Asia while East lost almost everything from their capital in Constantinople to the Balkans, the Levant, North Africa and Anatolia. This article is old propaganda that is easily countered by stating the simple facts. The East lost almost everything while the so-called weak west spread Christ's Kingdom world wide.

Decent empire, but nothing beats the Imperial Russia.

Moscow is not the third Rome. Rome was the first Moscow

ALTERNATE HISTORY • 4 years ago

It's unusual to find a scholarly work with annotation on this forum. The author has explained some things not evident in our understanding of an important empire that lasted 1400 years.
It's also interesting that succeeding empires lasted successively shorter periods of time. The American empire might be less than 100 years given the state of decrepitude and corruption we can easily notice .

...I don't know...it's All Greek to me...
