Isn't it amazing that they employed special constables specifically to monitor the CCTV and so many crimes ere committed right under their noses when it was supposed to have been working at the time

Do you remember when a then Premier brushed off everyone by saying there aren't any gangs in Bermuda?....look where we are now!!

And just in case you UBP'ers and OBA'ers open your mouths to bash the PLP, remember when your very own Minister was "arrested" for gun and ammunition possession?.....remember the name Harry Viera?. If it would have been one of the back of town men, there would have been immediate imprisonment

You are all calling for harsher penalties, but you can blame the Dame for her first order of business which was to abolish the death penalty!!

$200,000 for a set of stairs. $250,000 for bus washing equipment. What will cameras cost?

How many of the cameras scattered around the island actually work? Somebody must know. Where are the files stored? Who has responsibility for them to be maintained? That stuff is not cheap. A simple home system can easily run at $1000.00

If the CCTV system is 6 or 7 years old the technology must be 8 to 10 years old, which is several generations away from being current. If the system is actually upgraded to todays tech it would benefit ALL of Bermuda, would not need to publicly appeal for witnesses as CCTV doesn't blink and isn't afraid of reprisals IF the system is monitored as it should be and is implemented island wide.

Will the new CCTV be able to tell if a judge is driving his car?

What is the status of the previous $5 million dollar upgrade project? I recall they started swapping out cameras and then silence.

Are we not tired of government waste? We need an investigation on how much the current system cost overall, how much has been paid monthly to maintain thus far, who runs the company and how many cameras do not function. The cost of buying and installing a new system, how much maintenance costs will be, what lifespan will the cameras have and who is getting the new contract. Also where are we borrowing the money to finance it and a list of crimes solved by the cctv so far. Accountability and transparency first.

Evidentially not, Bermudians keep on voting for incompetence in the form of the PLP every couple of years.... so your answer would be “No”.

Not if they can keep it under 50k per camera.

Silly Question !!

Stevie Wonder • 2 years ago

Of course the last system installed was allowed to deteriorate.
How else would they be able to provide a large contract to a F&F member.
