It's great that Sen. Jackson is pro-life! But what is her judicial philosophy? Is she committed to applying the plain meaning of the law as intended by its authors? Your article doesn't address this.

The solution to progressive judicial activism isn't opposing activism -- it's rooting out activism altogether and returning the court to its original role.

goodwater • 3 years ago

Ditto. How can she even consider being a member of the socialist Democrat party. Does she still believe the socialist Democrat party's accusation that the Republican Party is only for "rich" people. Furthermore, the socialist Democrat party are "abortionist" believers.

Allan Daniel • 3 years ago

I would not encourage sending any Democrat to the court.

The Lunatic Left hates nothing more than women, African Americans and Hispanics who Christian, Conservative, and Libertarian. IT completely destroys their political narrative.

FeuerBomb • 3 years ago

I'm late to this party, but I'll say it anyway, This is identity politics! No.

John Hladky • 3 years ago

it's a moot point to comment now given Amy's nomination, but if someone were authentically pro-life I do not comprehend how that person could remain affiliated to a party so manifestly aligned against God.

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

The situation in New Orleans is evidently pretty desperate, especially where black pro-lifers are concerned, since the Democrat Party has a stranglehold on the African American community. My hunch is that this has everything to do with at least trying to break that stranglehold. Where we're concerned, raising the profile of the tiny minority pro-life contingent in the Democrat Party seems like a good idea, even if it means pushing a massive bolder up the side of a sheer cliff.

John Hladky • 3 years ago

That's what I don't understand; if they are being "strangled" why not just switch party affiliation? It's not like they can force them to be Democrats. Would other African Americans reject her if she did switch parties? Anyway your cliff analogy is fitting. But I think the stranglehold is demonic and that it seeks to tear down the lives of all people.

Patricia goodson • 3 years ago

In most cases, Father Altman is correct. However, there might be reasons for staying in the Democrat party. In 25 years of lobbying in the Kansas legislature, I knew many Democrats who disagreed with the positions of their party. The reasons are beyond the scope of this comment. But some of the prolife dems I knew were far better on most conservative issues than many suppose to be Republicans than I could count. And far more willing to fight for the cause of all life without exception. Yes that was more than a few years ago, but maybe this lady can explain her affiliation without being condemned outright.

Also, it is troubling to me when someone says their religion would not interfere with their judicial decisions.

Truthbetold • 3 years ago

How can one be pro-life and vote democrat or be an elected democrat? Maybe 30 years ago there were a few pro-life elected democrats, but not today. Today's democrats follow Mao and Stalin far more then they follow Christ or God.

Clifton Webb • 3 years ago

Over the past three years I have come to believe that the catholic democrats are the dumbest Catholics on the face of the earth. I had the opportunity to engage with some older people in their 70’s to 90’s who are catholic and democrat. They are ignorant of scripture, the tenants, commandments, sacraments. When it came to voting they just voted the name associated to the letter D. When informing them of where their candidate stood on abortion they either denied it or said they were not aware of it. Or! What difference does it make. One woman who learned Hillary Clinton’s position on abortion seemed truly sincere in her sorrow for voting for her. She said she wouldn’t do that again. Too late though. She passed away last year. At least there is one less catholic democrat to worry about.

DLink • 3 years ago

Excellent idea. Of course it will have to be done in President Trump's second term when he has the opportunity to replace Justice Breyer.

How do they justify staying in the party of death and destruction? By calling themselves democrat they identify with the party.

Burt • 3 years ago

I would love to see Slow Joe, Chuck and Nancy, MSM et al. having to try to work out how to oppose such a nominee as Katrina Jackson. A black woman Democrat!

She seems like a lovely young lady. It's great that she is a Senator. She is a Democrat and likely could never have got to the Senate unless she was.

However I wonder who Katrina will be voting for? Trump? Not likely is it?
She should cross the floor to truly demonstrate her pro-life commitment.

Apart from anything else how qualified is she? Yes she is a lawyer, but doesn't such a position go to an eminent judge? That is a genuine question as I am a Brit and have very limited knowledge of the history of Supreme Court appointments.

Scipio Africanus • 3 years ago

This is a good and very important question. The US Constitution doesn't list any requirements for being a SCOTUS justice. (There were no law schools when the Constitution was written, so nobody had a JD...)

pamino • 3 years ago

What sort of people were on the first Supreme Court?

Scipio Africanus • 3 years ago

The usual rascals.

Darian Fisher • 3 years ago

I'm sorry but it is impossible to be a representative in any capacity under the mantle of the Democrat party when the entire party is 100% pro abortion. It's like calling yourself a Catholic while attending a Methodist Church every Sunday.

Truthbetold • 3 years ago

More like calling yourself Catholic while attending Mosque on Friday, and positioning head down butt up when the call to prayer is screamed over loudspeakers.

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

Unless they manage to get baby-killing off the Democrat platform. Any attempt to make abortion illegal in America is good...no, it's essential. Half the Republicans are fake pro-lifers, anyway. Reagan, Bush, Bush, McCain all had pro-abort wives. hmmmmmmmmmmm

goldie • 3 years ago

It is very disturbing to see your comments in support of a demonrat. I suppose my comments won't see the light of day...

pamino • 3 years ago

You’re not dangerous enough for that — yet; expertus dico.

Scattergood Baines • 3 years ago

At first I thought this was spam somehow under the Remnant logo. I’ll have to add Jason to my Caution!! List. Ok, she’s pro life. How is she on illegal aliens flooding into the country? Does she have an opinion on the 2nd amendment? How about felons voting? How is she on mail in ballots? I note that Jason lives in Japan. Sorry to say I’m a little concerned that this would pass Remnant smell test. What if other readers are influenced by this article and send letters to their representatives, senators and President Trump, also? This is quite frightening to be on Remnant’s site.

pamino • 3 years ago

Unfortunately that’s getting to be true. They have worded up Disqus accordingly. When all’s said and done, Western Europe is with all its shortcomings the best place to be.

goldie • 3 years ago

My thoughts exactly!

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

This woman has no chance of replacing Ginsburg, obviously. This is a provocation designed to help get her pro-life message out. She has been on EWTN many times promoting making ALL abortions illegal, she's been covered by LifeSiteNews and most recently she was involved with a full-page ad campaign taking Biden to task on abortion. If abortion is the fundamental moral issue, then this matters and we should encourage her: https://www.democratsforlif...

Elizabeth • 3 years ago

And yet, the entire article is asking Trump to nominate her to the Supreme Court. Right? Was this all in jest?

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

When a lawyer is a public advocate for the unborn and makes no exceptions even for rape and incest, I think Mr. Morgan is showing deep pro-life conviction by suggesting she be nominated over a Republican who's not really pro-life at all. There's a national debate and vetting process going on right now, and we do NOT put our columnists in a headlock when it comes to expressing their opinions on something like this. This is a blog post...not an editorial endorsement by Michael Matt.

James • 3 years ago

If Donald Trump were nominating a Liberal Republican in the Nelson Rockefeller mold, this would make perfect sense. But that is not what Trump is doing.

This is neither 1981 nor 1989 nor 1993, when many genuinely conservative - and not just conservative on one issue - people remained Democrats. If a politician remains Democrat after 8 years of the Obama Administration and then after the past four years of Democrats going totally insane in the Marxist sense, and after this past summer of endless rioting, then something very bad is wrong with that politician. That does not change because of 1 issue.

Scattergood Baines • 3 years ago

"a Republican who's not really pro-life at all." Who would that be, Amy Coney Barret? Maybe instead of promoting a pro life Democrat with all the residual baggage, you should issue "a provocation" citing evidence of who on Trump's list is deficient in the pro life category. BTW, Bob Casey is an infamous 'pro-life' Democrat which I never believed and his tenure has reinforced my opinion.

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

AVOID DEMOCRATS! AMEN!

Elizabeth • 3 years ago

With all due respect, but what? A Remnant columnist wants to see a Democrat as the next Supreme because.... it's a woman. Check. And she's Black. Check. And she's pro-life to one degree or another. Check. Good grief.

Now I've seen it all. Seriously? I'd say The Remnant standards are slipping big time.

goldie • 3 years ago

Amen.

Remnant1967 • 3 years ago

But just today. Right? I mean yesterday our standards weren't slipping at all but today you missed the point of a Remnant article, and our "standards are slipping" big time? LOL

Elizabeth • 3 years ago

Okay, I guess I missed "the point" of the article then. Seemed to me that your columnist, Jason Morgan, is asking Trump to nominate this Democrat woman to the Supreme Court. Was this a tongue in cheek article and it just flew over my head?

Head of Gudea • 3 years ago

Nothing against her, but why exactly do you think she's better than Barrett?

veritude • 3 years ago

Wow. If she is as pro-life as you say she is and she is Christian (perhaps not Catholic?) she might be an unassailable Supreme Court Candidate. She is a black woman, which takes a lot of the sting out of the Democrat's attack.

The big BUT is that she is a Democrat! How can one really be Democrat and pro-life today? There has to be a large degree of cognitive dissonance there!

Johannes • 3 years ago

Surprise of the year. Trump chooses Jackson as the new Justice. Why not.
Contradiction: She wants voting rights for criminals and wants more gun control.
But criminals want less gun control.

dsr587 • 3 years ago

Ummmmm, why would Pres. Trump select ANYONE associated with the pro-death Demorat Party? You want him to lose the election? His voter base would stay home in droves were he foolish enough to take your advice.

R.C. Black • 3 years ago

I think Amy Coney Barret would be quite nice too.

Expert Warns Amy Coney Barrett is a Deep State Trojan Horse Who Will Destroy Trump

This is the second warning I saw about Barret.

pamino • 3 years ago

It’ll become the third if you look above.

SendThyHolyAngels • 3 years ago

LOL! Maybe they are just afraid of her. I've heard Alex Jones is a
trojan horse also. That the only reason he is still alive (they say) is that
he puts out the "controlled" opposite side to stir things up. I have no
idea. All I know is, they most certainly are good at what they do.
Mostly confusion.

Starting to believe that they are already in a state of Artificial
Intelligence implants. Look at this clip of Nancy Pelosi starting at
25:00. She goes totally off script and does not appear to know
that something odd just happened. Watch Stephanopolous' face. LOL
