Obvious next step by "Progressives", demand Nationalization of all the largest employers so they can eliminate the "parasites" in Management.

You read it here first, folks... unless you're old enough to remember the Soviet Union.

Ron-93561 • 4 years ago

Dear all libs, socialists, communists, and fascists. We conservatives told you what would happen by demanding higher wages. We spoke from studying history and we warned you.
You reaped what you soed. Start paying attention to us and maybe you can hold off another bad decision.

thelastminstrel • 4 years ago

In a rational world the people who Correctly Predict the consequences of a Law or Rule imposed by the govt. would be listened to more and the people who were wrong listened to less.
We do not live in such a world.
It's a pity.

I have no sympathy for the ignorant morons who protested for $15/hr. They couldn't spell economics, never mind understand it. The liberal dunces that support this travesty should have to answer for their stupidity. Target must have democrats running the show. Stupid decisions, stupid reasons. Nothing based in reality. Then, as we predicted, the raise in pay causes the company to make changes that hurt their employees! Hah! Who would have guessed!!! When you make stupid decisions, there are consequences. However, democrats do not care about consequences because they know their media brothers will cover for them. What a bunch of total losers. Like I said, I have no sympathy for the whining morons who demanded this. And I blame the democrat party that supported it just to get votes, knowing the outcome could not be good. Democrats do not care about you America! They care only about getting total absolute power!!! They will do anything to get it. Just look at the lies they spew on a daily basis!!! C'mon people, it is time we threw these traitors out of office for good!!!

I dislike the term "workers". It sounds Marxist. I prefer employees.

Workers of the world unite! You have nothing to lose but your jobs.

Percival • 4 years ago

It sounds Marxist because it is Marxist. There was a definitive shift toward using that term in the US MSM about twenty years ago, and I couldn't understand why nobody seemed to notice or object. But then I'm over sixty and remember it being the term of choice in Soviet propaganda from PRAVDA.
Never heard "employees' Paradise" from them, did you?

jimmythegeek • 4 years ago

A 50%+ cut in hours is not just a response to a 15% increase in pay. As the Ohio former store director pointed out, there are already reasons to cut hours that would still be there at $13/hr.

Details do matter here, but why is working fewer hours for higher pay in principle bad? It's not like standing around Target is an inherently fun thing that people would rather be doing, than to be at home or elsewhere.

stephencua2001 • 4 years ago

It's not a simple matter of spending the same amount of money on employees but spreading it out over fewer hours. As the cost/employee goes up, the stores will find other alternatives that don't involve employees, or involves fewer of them. The self-checkout lanes are a good example. They create self-checkout lanes as employee costs rise. So instead of needing, say, 3 cashiers, they just need 1 to oversee. So the increase from $12/hour to $13/hour isn't just an 8% reduction in hours, it's a 67% reduction.

Welcome to the Communist dream. You were promised $30k per year With benefits by your handlers and their propaganda machine, but you will actually only make $20k without benefits.

Did you really believe money grows on trees?

Someone finally made the introductions: Social Justice meet Real World.

John R33 • 4 years ago

Foolish bunch yes but many of their adult overseers knew what would happen. A Seattle research project proved it and still the lemmings when off the cliff. Sacrificial piglets roasted on spit.

markvol • 4 years ago

Poor damned fools. Maybe they needed more classes in economics, than those of socialism, in the public schools. Kids get started down the wrong path, very early, nowadays.

Jersey Mark • 4 years ago

Be careful what you ask for because you just might get it. The Left are nothing but spoiled children who have no capacity for understanding that the economy is dynamic meaning that it is always changing in response to changing circumstances like increases in the minimum wage. They think that everything else but wages paid to workers will remain unchanged which is just what a child would think. They can NEVER appreciate the likely ramifications and impacts of their actions. This fine with them because they identify a crisis, impose their solution which only expands and shifts the crisis requiring them to impose more solutions and so on.

Sorceress • 4 years ago

Congratulations workers! You got just what you wanted, and exactly what you were told would happen has happened. You got reduced hours to the point of being in a worse condition than when your wages were less. When businesses cannot sustain the wage demands, they of course will look for ways to fill in the "losses" they are suffering because of your demands. Congratulations. You just demanded your way out of a decent job. Good going.

The school of hard knocks is a much better teacher than our public education system.

mf • 4 years ago

True, but that's not a very high bar to exceed in today's public education system.

markvol • 4 years ago

But more effective.

redstatevet • 4 years ago

Next up... the Sanders/Warren wing will demand that 20 HR/Wk is "Full Time" and gets Full benefits.

FOR EVERY ACTION......THERE IS AN EQUAL & OPPOSITE REACTION!

gbk • 4 years ago

Maybe they are noticing how easy it is for us others to breeze through the self checkouts.

markvol • 4 years ago

I would rather have the people doing the checking out, but yeh, if they are that stupid...

noah300g • 4 years ago

...and yet they will never learn. Ignorance is not having seen or heard, stupidity is refusing to accept what has been seen and heard time and again. Sometimes you just can't fix stupid.

Fantasy meets reality. Jarred into what's a true "woke" state of being.

checkmate2012 • 4 years ago

Here's my shocked face @:-o

Even Seattle and NYC already learned the hard lesson of forced anti-capitalism. Hello Bernie and Warren.

Ron-93561 • 4 years ago

OK, now we got the $15, now it's time to 'fight for 100'. Yeah right.

CaptainAmerica • 4 years ago

Absolutely......I've Always Wanted to Know What a $150 Hamburger Tastes Like !

upchuckliberals1 • 4 years ago

100% unemployment is the goal.

markvol • 4 years ago

Uh, that is true.

checkmate2012 • 4 years ago

The easier it is to destroy our country from within, the easier is for Leftists to remake in the utopia model of Venezuela. Green new deal.

Ron-93561 • 4 years ago

Yup!

writeofcenter • 4 years ago

Just like when the mandatory health insurance requirement (for companies with 40(?) or more employees) ended up requiring full time workers to work less than 28 hrs(?) a week this turning them into part time positions.

Unintended but clearly foreseeable consequences of nanny state socialism.

upchuckliberals1 • 4 years ago

Oh it was fully intended, drive them off of private insurance onto the government roles and make them subservient to the Dims.

Vote stupid, live in stupidity.

Maydaymayday • 4 years ago

Remember when people could tell the difference between an entry level, basic skill minimum wage job and a career? Those toting the min wage signs and celebrating the fight for $15 have peaked in their lives.

checkmate2012 • 4 years ago

Easy, not that long ago as in pre-Obama.

bk • 4 years ago

Hard to believe such a woke company is practicing - what's that word again? - oh yeah capitalism.

Robert1231 • 4 years ago

I wonder if they got rid of all those pesky male & female bathrooms yet? They were among the first to vow to do away with such 'out dated' gender labels. I'm sure the construction cost on such a venture wasn't cheap for a store already having to cut hours to overpay entry level employees.
We all know that Socialist have such a distorted view of Capitalism that they believe their is no difference between a dollar invested and a dollar wasted. It wasn't that long ago that Pelosi was telling us that increased welfare was stimulus.

RichD • 4 years ago

Dunno, but that's when we stopped going to Target. Permanently.

davinci38 • 4 years ago

I shed crocodile tears for these workers. When you preach socialism, this is what you get, less money and more misery. More people need to suffer and they will eventually see that capitalism is a superior system to govt control.

upchuckliberals1 • 4 years ago

One would think they'd figure it out but NEVER underestimate the stupidity of the gimmiedats.

mlmorrison44 • 4 years ago

And notice all the self ordering screens popping up in the fast food chains...worked for banks...

edhuff • 4 years ago

Oddly enough Leftist Major Texas municipalities (Austin, Dallas) are pushing "paid sick leave" for hourly workers. This would kill small businesses.

edhuff • 4 years ago

Self check out--my personal favorite.

mlmorrison44 • 4 years ago

And these folks losing benefits and even their jobs will vote Dem/Warren or Bernie because they will be bitter, blame the companies, etc...

joliphant • 4 years ago

The only real minimum wage is $0.00

tonysc • 4 years ago

That's pretty much what the people that lose their jobs as a result of these pay raises are getting, $0.00!

nighttwister • 4 years ago

I guess communism still hasn't been tried by the right people.

tonysc • 4 years ago

It's like a Greek tragedy unfolding! The left and their corporate sympathizers seem incapable of setting up the play for an ending other than tragedy for the entire cast of characters.

Robert1231 • 4 years ago

the entire cast doesn't end in tragedy - people like Paul Pelosi, Hunter Biden, Christopher Heinz and Chelsea Clinton come out of the tragedy just fine.

tonysc • 4 years ago

The new tragedy then... where leaders are immune from the destruction they wreak.
