I chose my condo out of about 25 others because it had low windows with wide sills for my cat to be able to sit and look out.

As a Dog parent I say BRAVO!! Here's my advice:
Find a home with a good fence, tall and solid, and then go to your nearest Pound and adopt at least 2 dogs, never mind age, the older the better, or better yet, one young, one older, skip the potty training, rescue a bonded pair if you can fine one, or 2 dogs that play well together, and SAVE THEIR LIVES. TWO dogs are better than one, bonded pairs or two rescues are the easiest transition, because they feel safe and have each other. Keep them in the house unless you're at home, walk them when you get up and when you come home, give them a space for them in your bed.. They will adore you and be your best friends. License them, chip them, register the chip, get a cloth collar and a tag that has their ID contact info on it. You will be SOOOO happy! I cross post lost pets on Death Row on Facebook and Twitter. I have a special FB page and twitter for it. Too many LOST pets die daily because their owner never bothered to license, chip and register and tag their pets.

The article title and wording is very misleading when compared to the survey itself.

The article makes it sound like the survey asked for the one thing that drove the buyers decision to purchase the house, but the survey clearly allowed multiple reasons per respondent (the results displayed above show a total of 179%).
"I want a house because I want more living space for me and my dog" and "I want a house so that my dog has more living space" are very different things.
