Beware of who you tell that you will be away. Posting on FB that you are going on vacation with a picture of a packed car with your address numbers in the background is a clue. Old fashion idea leave a radio playing low with a talk-radio station on and light timers in various rooms and intermittent times on and off.

Take picture or video of every room. Don't post it but keep it for records should you need it later. Insurance companies do not like to pay out claims.

Just a few thoughts.

The suggestion I have is for people to STOP leaving papers on my door to advertise! It lets people know that no one is home. Everytime I see them on my door I call and ask for them to stop, unfortunately many times they are realtors bragging about the houses they have sold.

SO many people do not think it's necessary to put something in the sliders. Sometimes it's the simple reminders that can make the difference.

34% front door break-ins - how many/percent had front door video monitors? Seems to me it will decrease as more front-door monitors are installed and then the perps throw a rock through a window. Also, must have always on internet/power. If either goes then so goes your monitoring. But I agree - it's a start

I suppose this is a start but honestly these suggestion are pretty lame.
